What is really great about this place is its location. It is in the south side of Joshua Tree walking distance to both the National Park and downtown Joshua Tree. It is near the highway yet on the other side of the hill so you do not hear the traffic noise. It is on paved road yet there is a hiking trail right outside the door. If you want to go to the Park it is a two mile trail through the wilderness, if you want to go to a shop or restaurant it is only a one mile walk down the hill. It is also right near hundreds of petroglyphs that are worth seeing. We also just remodeled adding a new kitchenette, french door windows and a new sitting patio. We think you will love this place just as much as we do.

For visiting Joshua Tree National Park, this location cannot be surpassed. JB was the perfect host, responsive and helpful. A shaded parking place was a bonus. The charmingly rustic studio is furnished with everything you could think to need: hats for the desert sun, shampoo, books on the park and other attractions, other reading material, personally drawn map of nearby sights, personal recommendations for eating out, sunscreen and evena popcorn maker, . A welll-outfitted kitchen makes meal preparation simple. The futon bed is very comfortable. We didn't get time to use the attractive outdoor area but it was very appealing.

We stayed here for 4 nights this past April. It was pet friendly and the canyon across the street was incredible! Our hosts were so helpful and the studio was very comfortable. WE BBQ'ed in the back one night and cooked all of our breakfasts in the well equipped kitchen. I would highly recommend this place, especially if you have a pet!

I have a great stay at this property in February 2012. The room is a good size, very clean, and has all the amenities you could ask for -- including a very gracious host, JB. The location cannot be beat -- you are literally steps away from Joshua Tree National Park.

We absolutely loved our stay. It was nice to be away from the busy citylife and enjoying the beautiful environment and star gazing nights. Right near the Joshua Tree NP, waking up with views of wildlife. What more can you ask for?

This place is cozy and convenient. It is located very close to the JT strip and the park entrance. The view overlooks a beautiful undeveloped valley. Just in front is a great hike featuring petroglyphs and other traces of native American habitation. This place is an ideal base to explore the whole desert region. We plan on going back soon!

We can highly recommend JB's place. It has a unique location close to the west entrance of the National Park and in walking distance to Joshua Tree village. We stayed for eight nights. It' s quiet, comfortable, well equipped and has a spectacular view of a canyon formation. The terrace right in front of the studio is part of a desert plant garden leading down to a shaded port for the car. Being there provides an excellent entrance into the desert experience, good relaxation options and most of all great hosts. We are looking forward to more.

We had a wonderful time staying in the studio, it provided a cozy place for a romantic getaway. The proximity to the Joshua Tree National Park was very convenient. We really enjoyed being able to take a moonlight stroll into the desert right across the street from the house. The private backyard with the fire pit was also a favorite. We would definitely rent the studio again!

This place is the perfect weekend getaway in the desert. It reminded me of a small beach house that my family used to own. You have everything you need to be self-sufficient with the coziness of home. My favorite aspect of the space was the patio. Sitting right outside the room there is a fantastic view of an impressive boulder-ridden hillside. This is exactly why one comes to Joshua Tree! My boyfriend and I sat here morning and night- a great way to wake up and end the day. I recommend this rental over staying at a hotel any day.

About the owner: We first visited Joshua Tree in the mid nineties driving through from Seattle. We still believe this is the most amazing place to be.

Why the Owner Chose Joshua Tree:
We bought this property for several reasons: It is a well-built mid-century rancho; It has an amazing view of the National Park; There is a trail that goes from the house into the Park; There is actually a huge canyon filled with petroglyphs right near by; It is only one mile from any of the restaurants and shops in downtown Joshua Tree; It is right off the highway yet on the other side of a hill so it is easy to drive to while still very quiet.

The Unique Benefits at this Studio:
It was quite soon after we bought this place that we realized the location was too good not to share with others. Since then we have remodeled the additional part of the house into a private guestroom with kitchen, bath and private entrance. It is now a perfect getaway for a single or a couple. There have been a number of writers who found solitude here as well as couples looking for a clean bed and shower after a day of venturing through the park. We decided to open the room to pet-lovers as well and many found the nearby trail a perfect place to walk their companion.
