Aloha Meredith and Jerry, We want to thank you for sharing your WONDERFUL piece of Paradise with us. We think you named your "Klassy Kalama Condo" just right. The location was perfect for walking to the beaches, restaurants and stores yet so quiet. We really enjoyed all the extras you supplied us with including Tommy Bahama beach chairs and umbrellas.....wow, so generous. Also we were so happy to have such a clean, perfect getaway to come home to everyday. The kitchen was well stocked and so was the whole house (wifi, 2 t.v.s, etc.). You surely made our vacation the best! Mahalo, Mahalo for all!

We spent 2 weeks in Gerry & Meredith's lovely condo. We had a wonderful time. It was only minutes away from Charley Young Beach. We travelled all over the island, and decided that "our beach" was the best. Perfect for boogie boarding, swimming, laying about and much to our surprise even a great spot for snorkelling. We found the bed to be a little firm, but enjoyed the way the gentle breeze blew through the windows onto us while we slept. Although the unit comes with lots of toys, we found them to be rather low end and not all that well maintained. We did enjoy the use of the beach chairs, umbrella and beach towels. There was also a handy cooler for keeping snacks cool on the beach. We loved our lanai, having all our home cooked meals and cocktails on it. We could watch the comings and goings on the quiet street while the large trees provided privacy. Mahalo! Nancy&Terry

Owner response:We are very glad that Terry and Nancy enjoyed our condo, the location suited them, and they found the condo to be very comfortable and relaxing. We were a little sad that they considered our toys (sports equipment) to be "rather low end" as we don't consider them to be low end. We provide free usage for our guests of an extensive array of sports equipment. From time to time, they become damaged by guests and we promptly replace them. All of these items are pictured in our ads. There are locations all over Maui where used equipment can be rented or new items purchased for a price.

In our opinion, this condo is located in the best "town" on the island. Its central location made it easy to get everywhere. The condo itself also is in a fantastic location. Even though we had a rental vehicle for getting around the island we often walked to the nearby beaches, restaurants and stores because they were so close. We found that the condo actually looks better in person than in the pictures so right off the bat we were impressed. It is really well maintained and very clean. Jerry & Meredith provided tons of ammenities that were really helpful and the binder with tips & tricks for doing things around the island came in really handy. They also answered any questions we had before getting to Maui. We would definitely recommend this property!! Hopefully someday we can make it back!

We had such an amazing time. Your condo is beautiful and in such a great location. Without a rental car for 2 days we found it very easy to get around by walking or taking the bus. With such a short visit, seems like we just didn't have enough time to accomplish all we wanted to, so will definately have to come back, hopefully next year. We mostly shopped and relaxed on the beach, but did take the drive around the north end on the one-lane road...sooooo exciting!! After that experience, decided not to attempt the Hana road!! we had a great time in maui! the condo was great. it had everything that we possibly needed and more. we really liked the fact that there were condiments in the refrigerator, coffee, every utensil possible, sporting equipment, beach gear... our daughter had a great time too. we were at the beach a lot, white rock beach in particular, and she enjoyed playing with the beach toys. we attempted to watch the sunrise at haleakala, but it was so cloudy, we barely saw anything. we know that we are bringing gloves next time we do that. we went snorkeling a few times and traveled all over the island to explore. we found two of our most memorable and favorite things to eat- the spicy ahi poke at eskimo candy best poke ever!!) and the spicy pineapple shrimp at geste shrimp truck by the community college. we will definitely be back, and we would love to stay at your condo again. i gave the information to a few friends of mine who will look into staying there as well. it was absolutely perfect!!!

Aloha Jerry and Meredith! Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!! Here's a quick note on our stay... Your condo/Kalama Terrace is very well located to everything Kihei has to offer - beaches, shopping, restaurants, even going into Kahalui is easy. The complex is clean, quiet and even though the condo is located just across the pool, we never had a noise issue. The residents/other visitors are friendly, welcoming and not nosy at all. The directions and instructions you provided are very clear and helpful. The condo has EVERYTHING we needed...and everything you showed in the pictures is there. Both of you have evidently showered a lot of love and attention on the condo and this makes it all the more comfortable for guests. A word of thanks to the previous guests as well - most notably to those who left the Road to Hana CD and some Italian herbs in the kitchen :) We enjoyed a lot of morning coffees & evening drinks on the lanai with Coco II, who we're happy to report was thriving when we left. We read the homestyle guidebook cover to cover and it was as good as the commercial ones. We did manage to catch a sunset from 'your secret spot' on the last day and I must say...well found!! Since it was raining during our visit, we were unable to bike anywhere and drove to the Ulua & Big Beaches almost everyday. However, we loved that if weather permitted, we could've walked/biked across the road onto a number of beaches. Word of thanks to Jerry & Meredith as well. Being newbie swimmers, we were apprehensive about going snorkeling even though we really wanted to. We emailed Jerry & Meredith with our questions and they were nice enough to send us pointers within 15 minutes, following it up with what in the condo could help us. We managed to get in some time at the Ulua Beach and loved it. We are definitely not resort folks, so loved living here for the 5 days we could. We will also be recommending your place to our friends if they travel to Maui. Our time in Maui and your condo was the honeymoon we never had so Mahalo for sharing your condo with us. We found the Kalama Terrace to be well located to everything - beaches, restaurants, etc. An easy walk to the Kam I, II, & III beaches. We loved your "secret spot" for romantic sunsets, literally two minutes walk away from your condo! The condo was perfect. We appreciated the big things: the A/C, the separate bedroom, all the "perks" you offered, such as your good quality beach chairs, coolers; and the little things, for example the safeway and foodland cards you provided, and the handmade soap. We found it was such a great deal staying at your condo and we would love to return. Thank you for helping make our honeymoon perfect!

We did all the usual tourist things and I discovered a couple of fitness centres in Kihei which offered very reasonable visitor rates and where I was able to enjoy yoga and pilates. I also found an ocean front yoga class that was great. (Details of these have been left in your information folder). We particularly enjoyed early evenings watching the sunset at Mulligans on the Blue or listening to live music at Life's a Beach. All in all we had a wonderful time and just wish Maui was a bit nearer to England so that we could revisit!! Cheers

We found everything to be in order as you described including that the location is near several beaches, resturaunts etc. The condo is very comfortable, clean, and the ammenities/useful items that people use when in Maui certainly helped save a few dollars. We found the information in the notebook and other reference materials to be very helpful. We did leave a Tape for the Road to Hana in the notebook so that others can use it. We just returned from a wonderful vacation in Kihei, Maui -- Meredith's and Jerry's very neat and clean condo was perfect. It is a cozy little retreat which was so handy to many things -- the beach was just across the street, bike paths to ride the bikes which are at the condo, the sunsets were gorgeous; so many little restaurants/bars to choose from within walking distance. We have traveled to Maui on two other occasions (staying in the Kaanapali area) - the trip to Kihei was by far the best -- we loved the location - Kihei itself is cozy and comfortable -- just like the Condo!!! We also enjoyed the pool - which we practically had to ourselves on the days we were there. Kihei is very close to the airport - an easy drive; also close to many activities - whale watching - Road to Hana - Heliport for scenic helicopter rides (breath-taking!), etc. We did avail ourselves of the bikes and the beach chairs -- just didn't have time to golf or the inclination or courage to surf but so many amenities abound in this well-furnished condo. Starbuck's We would highly recommend this facility. Dinner recommendations: Buzz's Wharf in Maalaea and Five Palms in S. Kihei - also Three's Bar and Grill (dine outside). All very good! I think the best thing you have going, is your downstairs neighbor. What an absolutley amazing lady. I like her baking!! I was too busy for any real fun in Kihie but I can tell you my camping trip was amazing over in Olowalu. Yours was a perfect place for me to rest my head inbetween my comings and goings. Hi, this is Ken (Ken and Joe), We had a great time, the condo was nice and clean and we did enjoy it very much. We spent most the time on the beach, we have done a lot of the tourist stuff in the past 4 years. I liked it because it was nice and quiet and the walk to the beach to watch the sunset was great (the beach from the condo) really nice little beach and not crowded, met a couple of nice locals there. We had a very nice woman in 101, (we call her Maui Momma) that made us apple pie, pancakes, and even cookies when we left to take on the flight home. We would like to bring our wives there next visit, if you had a 2 bedroom? The pool was very clean, the grounds were kept clean daily, and we met some nice people there also. There is one thing that I always do, when visiting Maui. We drive to Hana and take a Trike flight with pilot, Armin! He is the most genuine to his customers that I have ever met. If you have the stomach to fly like a bird, with the help of an engine to get you up and down, this is the tourist trip to take. We also took a sailboat sunset cruise from Lahaina, (Scotch Mist). They are very experienced at what they do and had an enjoyable time, with whale watching, drinks and chocolates included! All in all, to us, it doesn't matter if we have several things planned to do or nothing at all. As long as we can sit back and enjoy your lovely island and relax, this trip is always something to look forward to as often as we can!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jerry and Meredith's condo. It's situated in our favorite part of Maui (Kihei) and is convenient to everything. We particularly enjoyed all the amenities and got to use the bikes, snorkel gear, surf boards, WiFi, computer, coolers, beach chairs, and kitchen supplies. It makes a stay in Maui so enjoyable when you have access to everything you would ever need without going over the 50 lbs airline luggage limit. We did our research before going to Maui and read Maui Revealed almost cover to cover. Meredith's homemade guide to the island was as good as any and the stack of other guidebooks came in handy. Klassy Kalama will always hold a special place in our heart since a short walk to Charlie Young Beach resulted in our engagement. We can't wait to book Klassy Kalama again next year!

(A nice note sent to us by email just before departure.) Aloha Jerry & Meredith, We are about to leave your wonderful home in about an hour. We leave with lots of great memories of Maui. Your home provided us with all the amenities we could ask for in our first trip to Hawaii. As you mentioned, we didn't have nearly enough time to use all the amenities so we'll have to come out again. We really didn't know what we were getting ourselves into when we arrived in Kihei but after spending a week driving around the various parts of Maui we really think Kihei is the ideal location for us. Being close to the beach was most ideal for us. We were even more happy with location after walking around the beaches in front of Grand Waliea. This was a great, central location with excellant amenties! We had a great experience in Maui. Your condo was in a great location and centrally located on the island. It made for easy access to Wailea, Lahaina, Hana and the airport. We took the road to Hana during our stay and purchased a audio cd and roadmap with information about the trip to Hana. Since we didn't have any use for the information once our trip was over, we left the cd and brochure at your condo. We put it under the table on top of the other brochure information that was already there. We thought other visitors could use this information if they decided to stay at your condo and take the road to Hana. Thank you again for letting us use your condo while in Muai, it allowed us to get out of the hustle and bustle that can go along with a stay in a hotel or resort. Thanks, Phillip

Hi Jerry and Merideth, Happy Thanksgiving. Just wanted to tell you we had a great time in Maui and loved your condo. Of course our visit was too short so we did not get to do everything but we did take a surf lesson, saw beautiful sunsets from "your spot" and had some great food. We loved the sunrise and bike ride from the crater too. I wish we had had time to cook up some local food in your well stocked kitchen. so, we will have to come back! I would like to leave a positive comment on your rental website if you direct me to where to do that. Alan and I just had our 24th anniversary and we bought a new mattress (whoopee) I would love to find a headboard like the one in your condo. Do you know the manufacturer of that "Queen's" bed. (Sent to us in an email 6/16/2010) Dear Meredith & Jerry, Aloha and mahalo for the use of your lovely condo. It was absolutely perfect...so close to everything and so well equipped. We wish we could have stayed another week or two to make use of everything! Became addicted to stand up paddle boarding so the proximity to the Cove was awesome. We covered the island from Napili (tons of turtles!) to Hana, Paia to Makena...and had a sparkling clear day on Haleakala. We even took a dive trip to Molokini. Just loved the small town feel of Kihei and the neighbors were very friendly as well...especially the "cookie lady" downstairs. We have highly recommended your condo to other friends here in Oregon and would love to come back soon ourselves. We can't imagine a better vacation. Klassy Kalama no ka oi !!! Aloha! Thank you so much for letting us use your condo! It was everything we expected and more. It was centrally located to everything and we found everything we needed in the condo. The beach chairs came in very handy on our numerous days at the beach and the kitchen made it easy for us to cook a yummy Hawaiian breakfast, while enjoying the breeze out on the lanai. Aloha Meredith and Jerry, I probably don't even need to tell you how amazing of a time we are having here in Maui and how fantastic your Klassy Kalama Condo is!! it's absolutely the best, so comfortable, accessible to everything, and so close to the beach. We've had all our meals on the lanai (coco has been very thirsty since its been so hot and dry here lately). We had the pleasure of meeting Irie, from downstairs, who was gracious enough to share the Aloha spirit with us and bring us a delicious cake she baked! (by the way, I think she went away on a trip and we still have her plate, can I leave it here and maybe the cleaning girl can give it back to her??) We went to costco and stocked up on food when we arrived, and it was fantastic-- grilling out by the pool and bringing our lunches in the cooler with us each day on our travels. The surfboards and bikes are awesome! We rode the bikes everywhere, even to yoga on Wed morning in North Kehei where we took a free class right at Waipuilani Park. You're condo was a great home base for this trip and we will absolutely be recommending it to everyone that comes to visit us. Mahalo!

I hope we were suitable tenants. Your condo was more than adequate. When we go to Maui again, We would definitely consider it. I did bring my laptop and your Flat Screen TV was great because I could hook up an HDMI cable and watch high-def movies from it. I liked to be able to walk to "EVERYTHING" That was nice. The beach, restaurants, Grocery stores were all within easy walking distance. The location is definitely centrally located. It cut 1 1\2 hours everywhere we went to and come from. We got good use of your beach chairs and umbrella. We spent most of our time at little beach.

Aloha Jerry and Meredith, We just returned home from vacation the other day and we had a wonderful time staying at your condo. It was very clean and we could tell you put a lot of thought into making your place as homey as possible. We took day trips to Molokai and Lanai and left a couple brochures regarding validated parking in the binder. Arthur and I will definitely recommend your place to our friends and family! It sure was nice having the chairs, coolers and beach mats for our use. We didn't use any of the other things. Really wanted to try surfing but neither would fit in the rental car and never got a chance to walk one down to cove park. Next time. The condo is in a perfect location and within walking distance to restaurants, shops, beaches etc. It was dumb luck on our part to pick this location not knowing the area. The computer was also nice to check our e-mails while we were away. We liked that there were so many beaches to choose from in the Kihei area. Last time we stayed in Lahaina. We always take a 2 week winter vacation and have been to different parts of Mexico for the last 6 or so years. Has been about 7 years since we were on Maui and enjoyed the change of pace. Good places to eat, Lulu's, Tiki lounge, small roadside BBQ just past Hana and best of all "Da Kitchen". If you haven't been it is a hawaiian BBQ. An $8.00 lunch is good for two people and then some. The place not to eat is the mexican place next to Moose McGillacutty's. We were really missing mexican food and this hands down was the worst we have ever had. Ari gave us realty brochures (from her daughter who is a realtor) hugged us and gave us fresh baked muffins for the ride home. Rainy and 48 degree's in Oregon. Other then missing family it is not so nice being home. Oh well spring is on the way, we hope. Enjoyed our stay and will definately consider your condo if we return to Maui in the future. If your ever in Oregon consider staying at my cabin on the Deschutes river. Beautiful high desert area with lots of fishing, golfing in summer and skiing, snowmobiling in winter. Bruce and Sarah

Aloha Jerry and Meredith, We had an absolutely amazing time in Maui!! It was all we hoped it would be and more. We wouldn't have asked for better weather! Your condo was absolutely perfect for us! We appreciated all the little extras you have. It made our stay as comfortable as it would at home! We really appreciated the computer as we were able to stay in touch with our family. Your condo is in a great location as well. We walked Kalama Park daily and went to Charlie Young Beach quite often. The restaurants and shops in the area were great as well. As Chuck doesn't swim, we did not utilize the surf/boogie boards and snorkel gear but they are great to have. We spent some time at the pool. Everyone we met at the pool and around the condo were very nice which added to our wonderful holiday! While we were in Maui, we did some of the tourist spots. We went to the Tedeschi Winery, Maui Ocean Centre, Iao Valley, Haleakala Crater, drove the Hana Highway, went to the Old Lahaina Lu'au. We toured around a fair bit just taking in the sights along the way. Chuck definitely enjoyed driving the convertible we rented!! It was not easy to leave when the time came. Maui is an absolutely beautiful place...it is paradise!! We would love to return and hopefully use your condo again. Thank you once again. Chuck and Brenda Gartner

Hi, The condo was great for the activities we planned. We didn't need to be right on the beach. Having the car parking right next to the condo sure was convenient. Happy New Year. We had a great visit in Maui. We would definitely recommend your condo to family and friends. Is there a spot on HomeAway you'd like the recommendation to go? Below sums up our experience and what we liked about the condo. We were really happy with the location. It was great to be right in the middle of two major sections of Kihei, go south and end up at a local ice cream shop that serves Carmel Cashew ice cream or go north and end up having breakfast at the Kihei cafe, pork fried rice with egg and sausage. We also appreciated being walking distance from the beach. And having boogie boards and beach supplies for us already at the condo was great, we didn't have to pack these extras. We also loved having the computer and the wireless connection. This gave us the ability to look up attractions, find discounts, make reservations, and stay connected to family and friends. Finally it was great to have a parking spot so close to the condo and the stairs. We would definitely recommend this condo to family and friends. Regards, Marie & Walter

You did a wonderful job with it and the location worked out really well for us. We made it home smoothly with a couple stops along the way to visit old friends in Calgary. Now we are back in snowy Fort McMurray but it is super sunny and not as cold as last year so things are looking good - haha. As for the condo, you did think of pretty much everything but we wanted to tell you that we did break one of the boogie boards at Big Beach and although it is still usable, we did buy another one and leave it in the condo along with the others. We didn't have a chance to use the bikes but what a great idea! Everything else was fab. The computer was a fantastic treat and all in all we were very impressed and will definitely recommend your condo to our friends! We hope to get back to Maui again in 2010 and will be in touch!
