Year Purchased: 1986
Dee and John have been enjoying Kiawah Island for more than 10 years. Dee paddles her whitewater kayak in the surf, riding the waves like a surfer. John reads while relaxing in the shade of the screened porch. They boil local blue crabs and serve crab dip on crackers for an appetizer. For dinner, they buy fish and shrimp off the boats docked nearby (sometimes John is lucky enough to catch fish in the surf). Dee mixes the seafood with corn on the cob, sausage, and spices to make a mean Beaufort stew.
Why the Owner Chose Sparrow Pond
Dee and John want others to enjoy Kiawah Island and their cottage as much as they do! They love resting in their cottage on rainy afternoons in the Fall and Winter, reading and relaxing, maybe watching a movie. In the summer, they enjoy running across the hot sandy beach and diving into waves in the cool, refreshing ocean. The beautiful, historic city of Charleston is close by with wonderful restaurants and romantic strolls down cobblestone streets in the moonlight. There is so much to do on Kiawah and in the Charleston area, they discover something new every time they return.
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
Dee and John paddle their canoe in the black water of the marshlands, watch for birds on the island, fish in the surf, ride bikes, walk on the beach, kayak in the waves, swim, sunbathe, sit under the outdoor fan in the screened porch, read and relax, swing in the hammock, and eat seafood, fish, and local, seasonal vegetables.
