Absolutely IncredibleGuest comment entered by owner
My Girlfriend and I arrived during a huge snow storm and Brian put us up in a hotel at his own expense because we could not get to the cottage in our car. The next morning he drove to Strasburg, VA to lead us to the Lost River. We parked our car at the bottom of the mountain and Brian shuttled us up with our gear. Not only is he a gentlemen, but one of the nicest people around. He even left a birthday card and gift for my girlfriend. Once at the cottage we forgot all about the delay and fell in love with the snow covered mountain and hiked the roads enjoying the beauty. The cottage was spectacular inside

This was a wonderful place to walk and relax. The sky at night was AMAZING! Definitely romantic and cozy... We have already recommended this spot to all of our friends for a romantic getaway. The owner was friendly and quick to respond to any questions. We have plans to return in the Spring!

Great way to spend the holiday
We arrived on Thanksgiving morning to a beautiful cottage with the table set and wine waiting for us to start our holiday weekend. The kitchen had all the necessary items to make a wonderful meal, which we enjoyed as well as eating at the local restaurants and shopping at the new stores in the Valley. Everyone we met were so friendly we didn't want to leave.

So Amazing!Guest comment entered by owner
Only 2 hours from DC and it is paradise. The windy gravel roads as you come up the mountain were exciting and created the anticipation before arriving at Rose Cottage. The lot was pristine and well cared for as was the house and furnishings. The linens and extras like massage oil and wine made our stay so amazing. We will be back soon

About the owner: Brian J. Steffan, I am a full-time resident of Lost River, WV after living for 30 years in Northern Virginia. I own a permanent placement employment agency in Arlington, VA., Steffan & Co. Inc. I own the adjoining property to this cottage, but it cannot be seen by the cottage or the cottage by my property.
Why the Owner Chose Lost River:
I chose this location because it adjoins my existing weekend home and I had it built as a guest cottage for the main property. Also because the people are so nice and friendly and they all love to be here and cherish it like a jewel.
