Rating Details: I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was very clean. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property was in generally good shape and is in a quiet location. The main spaces are very bright and airy and the bedrooms comfortable with the exception of the children's room - very crampt. The view is great. The opening mechanism was broken on a number of windows and needs to be replaced.

Rating Details: I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was more than happy with the location. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall place was nice. Only 1 tv and 1 Internet connection without wireless. Overall place was acceptable; but dirty in corners etc. Equipment and dishes adequate. Since your stay, this home has added two new televisions and a wireless router. The owners have even added new serving bowls and dishes. Rating Details: I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was very clean. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: aside from finding the outdoor shower running full force when we arrived, having no deck chairs until I made a special request, a water problem (first the toilets with no water and then the sinks) which required a couple of calls to Atwood (who responded very well). Then a fire alarm system that blared throughout the house at 5:30 A.M. and continued erratically through the day until we disconnected them all so we could sleep that night. The electrician called to fix the water pump problems neglected to fix the alarms. Turned out that the alarms still had the original battaries. I guess the minor irritations would include not having the rental telephone number nor the wi-fi password on hand. Again I had to call Atwood. Be prepared for solving the unknown when you find four, count them, four remotes for the only television in the house. Other than the above, the crabbing is good and the fishing is lousy. Be ready to put The Atwood Agency on your speed dial. Oh, as yet, I have not heard the word "recompense".

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I downgraded the general condition catagory for what I consider minor problems, but they add up. My list: Kitchen faucet leaks No drain plug in bathroom Weak and useless compactor Excess garbage cans with no lids Kitchen sink leaks into pan below sink garbage disposal doesn't work Very few deck chairs but lots of porch chairs Wi-Fi directions as given do not get you to the internet. Phone number not given with the property. We had to call Atwood to get it so we could leave contacts. No phone book No TV channel guide Interior door to stairs has a lock problem and needs replacement. Looks like the door was forced at some time. The interior light was out when we arrived which made using the stairs hazardous. A ladder was needed. Atwood fixed it immediately. Kudos! Several boards on the boardwalk are lifting and could trip walkers. There are tree branches that rub against the house and will soon cause damage. Like I said....little things. But it wouldn't take much to fix them. Otherwise, five stars.

Wonderful Thanksgiving at Edisto 2010

The property manager was more than helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My Family really enjoyed our Thanksgiving stay this year. The house was very nice, had plenty of room for everyone. The Kitchen is well stocked (we did Big Thanksgiving Dinner) we had plenty of pots, pans, dishes and silverware. Nice open kitchen/dining area. We had friends over for Carolina/Clemson Game plenty of chairs and couches. Fishing was very good - we had a fish fry one night. Dock has plenty of water but creek is shallow at low tide. We had shallow bass boat work great but our bigger ocean-going boat could only run at high tide (tricky getting to Ocean). Crabbig with traps off the dock was very productive. The Property is gated and well taken care of. We say plenty of deer at night on the property. Very quiet and relaxing. Would recommend to friends. The house was very nice, had plenty of room for everyone. The Kitchen is well stocked (we did Big Thanksgiving Dinner) we had plenty of pots, pans, dishes and silverware. However, there are a number of things in the home which should have been repaired before we arrived for our much-anticipated vacation last week. The garbage disposal was broken, the toaster did not toast, the kitchen window was broken, the dishwasher did not wash the dishes clean so we washed all dishes by hand,the grill was rusted through on the bottom so we could not grill, the refrigerator door would not close so we had to prop a cooler in front of it at all times, quite a few light bulbs were burned out, the wiring in one of the downstairs bathrooms seemed faulty-lights and fan only worked part of the time. Our Stay at The Hammocks

A lovely home in need of a little TLC. The wonderful dock was the most outstanding feature. The pictures did not accurately reflect the bedrooms, the twin bedroom was cramped with bunk beds. Other bedrooms minus bedside lamps. The big letdown was the unclean condition of the home, EVERYTHING was covered with pet hair. It was necessary to vacuum furniture and floors and wash all bedding before we could begin to enjoy our stay. Since there is a fee for pet friendly rentals, we expected that to cover cost of cleaning after former renters. We left the home much cleaner than we found it.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location of this property was outstanding. From the top deck you had a gorgeous view across the wetlands and dunes to the ocean. We kayaked off of our own dock and caught 20 blue crabs in just two hours one evening. The kitchen is well equipped--otherwise the furnishing and decor are sparse and the house needs maintenance and updating. The property is pet friendly and we chose to bring our two dogs who loved running back and forth on the dock. The hard wood floors and simple furishing made it easy to fully relax. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: There were six guys at Hammock's Heaven. Three from upstate South Carolina and three from Georgia. There was ample space and plenty of individual bedding. The view from the balcony was great and the home was comfortable and well maintained. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have always loved Edisto. This was my first time coming in late March. Hammock's Heaven IS Heaven from the first second you step into the house and look across the wide marsh. We brought our jon boat and a kayak and LOVED having a boat ramp for the jon boat two doors down! I found the front tibia of a bison and a large vertebrae past the houses going towards the end of Edingsville Beach. The sea washed them up to me. I took both to the Interpretive Center which is another jewel and not to be missed on any visit. They confirmed I had a bison fossil. Also, not to be missed is Botany Bay Plantation. Hammock's Heaven is so spacious and comfortable everyone could have a place to call their own. The kitchen is well stocked. The only suggestion I had was for the owners to include a DVD player along with their VCR. There will be evenings or days when you just want to watch a movie and most of us travel with our favorite DVDs rather than videos. A wonderful place and I have already reserved it for 2 more visits.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have always loved Edisto. This was my first time coming in late March. Hammock's Heaven IS Heaven from the first second you step into the house and look across the wide marsh. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: House was beautiful but there are several problems encountered that need to be addressed before we would rent again. 1. Not enough utensils or pots and pans to accomodate 14 people. 2. Sleeper couch does not work therefore unable to sleep people on it and it is considered in the # of beds in the description.3. It was a chilly week and it would have been great to use the fireplace but there were no instructions available to light the gas logs. For people who don't own gaslogs it is not something that we should try to do without instruction. 4.Really could use and extra TV downstairs and a DVD player. It rained adn we had many children and they couldn't watch movies because they brought DVDS and because the only tv is in the living room then the adults would have to not watch football and it was the week of NEw YEars. We did have a lovely time and the house is otherwise fantastic but would encourage at the least the dishes be taken care of and the sleeping couch be reapired. Manager responded on 1/10/2010: We appreciate the informatin you have provided us with concerning this home and we will let the owner know so that these issues can be rectified as best they can. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a nice house, and because of the wood floors, is perfect for travelers with pets. The beds were comfortable, the dock is nice, and the views are pretty. The Hammocks is also an intriguing place. There were some problems with maintenance of the home: the bedspreads (cotton) and the mattress pads were dirty. We had to wash all of them the day we arrived. The spin cycle on the dryer did not work, the coffeemaker did not work, there were no bathmats in the very slippery bathtubs. The air conditioning cools the home irregularly, with some rooms being freezing and others being hot. Atwood immediately took care of the coffeemaker and bathmat situations. We just lived with the rest and didn't complain. I told them the bed linens needed to be cleaned better for the next tenants. Additionally, the home's kitchen needs to be stocked better. I think I would rent the house again, but only if I could be assured it was CLEAN, operational, and the air conditioning issues had been resolved.
