If you've already set your sites on Crested Butte, you're already on the right track! This town is one of our favorites in the world! Not just for skiing, but also for hiking in the summer, mountain biking and even just relaxing and taking a break from the busy lives that we lead. Our house reflects this. When we first moved in, it was obviously a miner's cabin which had been brought down from Irwing lake and added on to to make a house, but it did need a little T.L.C.! In renovating it though we have kept the charm that initially drew us to it whilst adding things like a hot tub under the stars, a sauna, great insulation and cozy furnishings. Location-wise, it would be hard to beat - it's a few blocks from the main drag (Elk Avenue) and the stop for the free shuttle to the mountain is almost directly opposite the house. The house is cozy enough for a romantic getaway for 2, but also large enough for a relaxing vacation for 4!

This place is nicer than the pictures show. Everything was spot on. Only about 5 minutes to the mountain. We will be back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for the review - we're probably better skiiers than photographers! See you again soon - glad you had such a great time in our home. Tony.

My husband and I stayed at the Miners cabin for a week during our first winter vacation to Crested Butte. One word to describe it was PERFECT. The cabin itself was absolutely beautiful and relaxing in the hot tub was a welcomed ending to a day on the slopes. This was our first time visiting Crested Butte and we can not wait to come back again. The downtown location of the cabin was also an added bonus, just a short walk to elk ave. where we have now found our favorite rum at Montanya Distillers. A sincere THANK YOU to Tony for making our vacation perfect.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

My husband and I were so thrilled when we arrived at the miners cabin! It was so warm and cozy. We enjoyed every minute of our stay from a day at the mountain to sitting in the hot tub to cooking a pot of chili in the kitchen! Everything we needed was so accessible! The location was perfect! We could walk to dinner and shopping. Overall, we fell in love with the house, the town and the people. We would love the opportunity to one day call this town our home. Thanks for such a wonderful vacation!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My family had a great time at the miners cabin. It's very warm and cozy. The hot tub was great after a long day of skiing. It is also in a great location just around the corner from all the restaurants. We didn't have a bad meal the whole time we were there. I recommend The Slogar, literally 3 houses down, and The Secret Stash. The free shuttle to the mountain also picks you up across the street 2 houses down. This was a great place to stay!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

What an incredible cabin! We knew nothing about Crested Butte and took a "gamble" on this cabin and location. We honestly could not have asked for anything more wonderful. The location is perfect and literally walking distance to everything. The free shuttle picks up across the street and 3 houses down and takes you to the ski area (11 min ride.) The cabin itself is charming and cozy. Everything you need is already there and just waiting for your arrival. Super clean and just extremely comfortable. This will be our new homeaway from home in Crested Butte. Thanks to Tony for letting us experience this wonderful cabin.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We came to Crested Butte in late September to see the aspen leaves changing color and hit it right at peak – yellow and orange everywhere! It was absolutely incredible. We usually stay at hotels or condos, but when we saw the pictures of the Miner’s Cabin we decided to give it a try. It looked cozy, charming, clean and comfortable – with everything we would need for our stay. We were not disappointed. We enjoyed a plunge in the Jacuzzi in the crisp fall air complete with champagne and cheese, a cozy evening by the fire with popcorn and a movie, and nice walks through town eating and shopping. We loved our little cabin – it had everything we wanted and more. We’re converted and look forward to staying again – next time in the spring to see the gorgeous wildflowers. This was our first experience renting a vacation home from an owner, and it was a very positive one. The description of this property was very accurate, and there were no surprises at all upon our arrival. It was clean and everything worked great. The owner has clearly gone to great pains to cater to visitors to the area. He was very helpful in answering any questions we had, and the leasing process was very straightforward. We spent a week here with our two pre-teen daughters, and they loved the Miner's Cabin as well. In town, we'd recommend the Sherpa Cafe and Secret Stash for dining. We also had excellent experiences with the following businesses in the area: Crested Butte Mountain Guides for Rock Climbing. The Alpineer for mountain bike rental and general guidance. Fantasy Ranch and Harmels for horseback riding. We could not have been more pleased with our stay and highly recommend the Miner's Cabin.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The Miner's Cabin is a delightful hideaway in the charming getaway town of Crested Butte. The owners have tapped into the local spirit of relaxation and comfort with this magical haven complete with roasting fire, bubbling hot tub, personal sauna, and close proximity to all the lifts and shops. Nestled in a neighborhood of friendly locals, mouth-watering restaurants, and gorgeous landscapes - the cabin offers the perfect solution to a day on the slopes. My friends and I spent a whole week laying about this cabin - sipping hot cocoa, watching old movies, listening to music, cooking in the kitchen, and nursing our aching muscles in the hot tub. This place is a gift and is now a yearly destination for me and my friends.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My only regret is we didn't have more time to spend in this well organized and well stocked cabin. Everything is in working order and it was very clean. The hot tub and spa was a wonderful way to top off a hard day of hiking in the mountains. The location is perfect for walks to all the local restaurants and shops. The Soupcon off 2nd street is a must for fine food. I will definitely come back to this place next time I go to Crested Butte. On another note, I found everyone in this town to be very friendly and willing to help in any way possible.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About: We've skied since we were kids. After working a ski season in Chamonix and developing a passion for backcountry skiing and hiking, we started looking for somewhere in the US where we could set up a more permanent home. When we first came to the town of Crested Butte in 2000, we realised that this was the place - with its challenging ski area, great backcountry and amazing community. Over the years we've come to appreciate all the seasons here in Crested Butte and we've grown to love this town which has managed to keep its charm and avoid the overdevelopment that you find in so many other resorts.
Why Crested Butte:
When we started looking for a house, we wanted something small and cozy in the heart of historic Crested Butte (as opposed to the mountain resort which we found less charming, especially outside of the ski season). We finally found 219 Whiterock which at the time was a bit of a wreck with a full drum kit set up in the living room and some interesting murals painted in the loft area! With a little vision, we saw the potential of this cabin and spent the next year renovating it, even adding a sauna and a hot tub in the garden Now we have this beautiful home in Crested Butte.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Our home is perfectly situated in the heart of historic Crested Butte - you can walk to the shops, the restaurants, the movie house etc and the free bus for the 10 minute ride up to the mountain resort stops almost directly outside by the Nordic centre.
In the summer you can hike directly from the house (Green Lake is a favorite!)and you really don't need a car unless you're planning some longer trips.
Lying in the hot tub staring up at the stars and the mountains after a long day of skiing, hiking, biking or even white water rafting is just the coolest!!
Enjoy!
