Our family traveled to San Anselmo from Wisconsin for my son's wedding and found this spacious home to be the perfect setting for a week of fun, adventure, laughter and loving. The house immediately became THE gathering place for entertaining and relaxing with family and friends. Our terrific host Cyrus made sure we were "at home" comfortable, that the house had everything necessary for our large group and made us all laugh often with his great sense of humor. Everyone was very impressed with how clean and well maintained this home is. The online pictures really don't do it justice. I would highly recommend this home for any family or group looking for the best value in Marin accommodations. We hope to return again soon.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner lives on property, and the house reeks of cat pee. It smelled so bad we decided not to stay. Owner refused to give us all our money back, and was aggressive with my husband. A terrible experience.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

VRBO house was used as a gathering point for out of town great-grand parents, grandparents, and uncle so they could spend Christmas 2012 with their San Anselmo family. The venue was perfect for this function, as the floor plan of the house is very accommodating to our large group -- 11 dining on Christmas Eve. All of the four bedrooms were used, except for the two twin bedroom, that was used only one night to provide a sleep-over of the young grandchildren. It is difficult to provide enough praise for the owner's attention of our needs. Having him personally meet the arriving guest and provide a though walk-through was particularly appreciated -- he made us feel at home from the beginning. He would check in with us periodically the first few days to ensure we had all we needed and to provide advice to the area. When we departed, he asked us to provide him with a list of items we had noted that could make this lovely property even better. He was, quite simply, a lovely host who seeks to make every guest feel at home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed at this property for 9 nights in December 2012 and it was wonderful. We travel to the area every 3 months and have stayed in other places in the past and nothing compared to this house. The house was clean, open and spacious and Cyrus was a wonderful host. He met us and checked us in early and he was available for anything that we needed. The house had everything that we needed including towels, soap, extra bed sheets, washer and dryer (with detergent too!), beautiful fireplace, huge dining room table and a big kitchen. The kitchen has all the necessities and more. Thank you Cyrus for a wonderful stay in your San Anselmo home. we will be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

I rented this house for my extended family when they visited for THanksgiving and it couldn't have been more perfect. It easily fit all 10 of them and there would've been room for more if needed. There were some toddlers and young children around and the house was definitely child-safe. The kitchen was well equipped and the huge dining room table was awesome. We loved having the sleeping areas downstairs and the living upstairs so that when it was time for the little ones to go to sleep, noise from the adults didnt bother them. The owner was very attentive. We only had one question about how to work one TV and he addressed it within hours. We would absolutely choose the same house again if it was available.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed at this property for a week. We needed something north of San Fran and south of our family in Novato. This house was perfect! The location was AMAZING!!!!! Everything you could possibly need or want is nearby. The little town of fairfax is 5 mins away and was so much fun, little shops, movies, cafes and more! It was a easy drive to SF and even easier to Novato. The house had everything we needed. It was HUGE and there was plenty of room for the kids to run around inside and not get bored. We BBQ'd many nights on the front deck and the kitchen is great. The owner was very helpful and very nice. The house is dated in some decor and design but in NO way took anything away from how much we enjoyed our stay. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family of six had a wedding in the Sausalito headlands July 16th and didn't want a typical tacky hotel. This property in Marin County was absolutely gorgeous with plenty of room and every amenity. At one point we had fifteen relatives around the huge dining room table and no one felt crowded. Sipping coffee every morning on the deck watching the hawks glide across the sky was so relaxing. Our host Cyrus was very helpful and saw to it our vacation was just perfect. I would certainly recommend this property to anyone lucky enough to visit Marin County. Thank you Cyrus, hope to visit you again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This is our second time staying with Cyrus in the last 6 months. It is so comfortable here. The view is amazing and we enjoy the proximity to San Francisco, Sausalito, Sonoma etc. The home has a well stocked kitchen and I love that I always have plenty of hot water even with our family of five-six people here. I would describe the decor as electic and funky with some wonderful pieces of art the owner has created himself. San Anselmo and San Rafael have all of the basics you need and some very good restaurants as well. There is a nearby park and a trail close to the house that leads to the top of the vista where you can see the Golden Gate bridge and San Francisco. There are also a couple more trails near town for hiking as well. Overall, this house is an amazing value and Cyrus is a great host as well! We have plans already to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Wow! There are no words to describe being able to wake up after a peaceful night's sleep and have a cup of coffee while admiring a woodpecker going to work right in front of you in one of the beautiful trees in view! We were astonished at the magnificent view of the valley and mountains from this home - and we never tired of watching deer and hawks at work right in front of us! Being NY city people, we loved and appreciated every one of those tender moments. This incredible home allows you to! Yes, the town is lovely. Yes, the proximity to San Francisco is convenient. But this house and it's owner, Cyrus, make the whole experience magical and special and those are precisely the things that make for special memories. This home and entire trip will most definitely be one of our most treasured family trip memories - it will be hard to top! My heart is sad being home!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Coming from France, we spent two weeks in this very nice house. The equipment of the house and the decoration of the rooms are perfect, nothing was missing. The house is very pleasant for the family life (numerous and big bedrooms, big kitchen, bathrooms for everyone, barbecue...), beautiful view. The situation of San Anselmo is perfect for visiting San Francisco and all the region all around. And, last, but nos least, the owner is a so nice man. He took care of us as if we were belonging to his own family. We recommand very much this place.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
