Secluded Lakefront Home, Gorgeous Mount Saint Helens View
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
Secluded lakefront home with panoramic views of Silver Lake, Mount Saint Helens and Mount Rainier. A gateway between Seattle and Portland, this charming home sits on 2 acres surrounded with old rustic pine trees. Water and mountain views can be enjoyed from the kitchen, dining room, living room and master bedroom. The property has 3 docks and an additional floating dock in the water for fishing, swimming and water sports. If you have jet skis, the boathouse has a crane to raise and lower them into the water. If you are an angler, Silver Lake is well known as one of Washington’s best bass fishing lakes.
A second lakefront deck off the Master Bedroom has an outdoor hot tub. Sit under the large pines and enjoy the lake view from the spa. There is a large upstairs bonus room with a private deck. This area is currently unfurnished, air mattresses and bedding can be provided upon request for additional sleeping space.
If you choose to explore the area, the Mount Saint Helens National Volcanic Monument is a must see. The views of the mountain from the deck are breathtaking, but a trip up Spirit Lake Highway to the ridge is a day trip worth taking. The Mount Saint Helens Visitors Center (1 mile away) shows a great movie on the 1980 eruption with first-hand accounts from locals. Another 42 miles up Spirit Lake Highway is the Johnston Ridge Observatory. This ridge is an actual working laboratory for scientists, has a large visitor’s center and sits just 5 miles from the crater.
This beautiful home is fully equipped for a relaxing vacation. Stay and enjoy the seclusion or enjoy the many shopping, antiquing and city attractions nearby.

Hands Down The Filthiest Vacation House!
Hands Down The Filthiest Vacation House!

We were so disappointed to arrive and find the house uninhabitable. The kitchen floors were sticky, the windows were so dirty you could barely see outside, there was gooey stuff on the kitchen counters. There was hair in the shower and urine and hair on the toilets. The hot tub was rimmed with a brown smudge. Upon arriving and seeing the condition of the house we called the owner. She informed us that it was perfect and was unwilling to correct the situation. We had family coming from all over Washington and Oregon for a weekend together and we were left scrambling for a last minute substitution because this house was unacceptable. We ended up finding a beautiful and very clean rental to use for our weekend (which was half the price!)Owner response: This group did not stay in the home. Once I received their phone call, their claims were so outrageous I asked them to please leave. I had just left the home the day before after a 2 day cleaning. I returned to the home after their departure, and the home was clean, nothing in their claims was valid other than some crumbs I had missed on a dining room chair. I suspect they had found another home to stay in and wanted to get out of the rental fees. This home is kept spotless, and my other reviews will indicate that. Unfortunately, we occasionally have to deal with dishonest renters. It was in our best interest to ask them to leave, which is what their intention was anyway.

I would actually give this place 4.5 stars if that were an option. Clean, great view, great amenities and quite spacious. It was just a little difficult with the sleeping situation for our party (see below). We just got back from a long weekend at the house with five adults and three children. To start off, the pictures do not do the place justice at all. You have to see it to believe the view and overall serenity of the place. The windows in the kitchen, dining, living, master and bonus room all have great views of the water and mountains, and if you are lucky, you not only get Mt. St. Helens, but Mt. Rainier as well! Not only that, there is a great large deck outside that is partially covered by a roof and also two big trees. You could spend all day out there relaxing if you wanted too. They have lots of chairs, a big table, and a nice barbecue as well. The house is a good base for enjoying all that Mt. St. Helens has to offer. It is only 45 minutes to the end of the road at the Johnston Ridge Observatory, where you are only a few miles from the mountain and can get amazing views right into the crater. Also nearby is the Forest Learning Center, the Hoffstadt Bluff Visitor Center and the Mt. St. Helens Visitor Center. They are both great places to explore. Of course, you could just stay at the house all day if you wanted to, enjoying the view, the hot tub, the deck and so forth. If there are more than a few of you planning to use the house, the only thing to be careful of is the sleeping situation. The master bedroom, with a king bed and twin showers is large, but the other bedrooms only have one single bed or one full. Therefore, sleeping two adults in one of the other rooms is not ideal, unless you want to use inflatable beds. If you have one couple and three singles, you can fit five people with no problem on the beds. Otherwise, it is a little tricky. Overall we all had a great time, and were able to mix in rest with sightseeing. I would highly recommend staying there for at least 4-5 days if you can, because there is so much to do. We felt that we were rushed and barely had a chance to see and do as much as we had hoped. Oh well, we left something for next time I guess.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Thanks for sharing your home. We had a wonderful time exploring the Mt. St. Helens area and Ape caves. The kitchen was so well stocked and we made good use of the grill. The kids loved running around outside!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

The most awesome family vacation ever! A beautifully appointed and clean home, the most fabulous views and the deck and docks were our favorite place to congregate. The very best location, peaceful and relaxing! Enjoyed watching and waving to the boat "commuters" from the island. Full moon across the lake last night and sunrise this morning were spectacular! We return to "real" life invigorated. PS Video of Mt St. Helens eruption (16 minutes long) at Johnston Observatory well worth the drive up there. Admission is $8.00 for adults, If you have a Golden Age Passport, admission is free!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Thank you very much for the great stay. What a lovely house and fantastic view! Our kid loved the water and all the wildlife, and the neighbors commuting by boat. Thanks also for all the extras, like the swing sets, fire pit, jetty and the bassinette. Really appreciated.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Ouch. We found out the hard way, the 3 buoys are to warn of under water rocks. One prop and a trip to the boat shop later, we leave this warning for future guests.....Stay away from the buoys! The rest of the house was fantastic. So glad we got to stay here. The backyard is amazing. The lake is perfect and great deck for tanning. Thanks for everything!Did you find this review helpful? Thank you for letting us stay at your house. It was a pleasure spending our vacation here. We liked that the house is cleaned and fully equipped, even though we brought our own stuff. Our kids had plenty of space to run around and for the adults, it was great for boating and the view is just amazing.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: We live on the coast of Washington state with our two teenage boys.
Why the Owner Chose Mount St Helens:
This is a convenient area for travelers. One hour from downtown Portland, and 2 hours to downtown Seattle. This home is 6 miles from I-5. Centralia is a 45 minute drive with factory outlet stores and a historical downtown antique district.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Peaceful, with magnificent views. Every room in the house has a water view. I especially love the large deck, two huge pine trees were left in the middle with a wrap-around bench for seating. It keeps you outside most of the time, even when the weather is not cooperating.
