River Rose Cottage is a charming vacation rental cottage tucked away on a quiet, dead-end street that runs along the Rocky Broad River in Chimney Rock, North Carolina. Just a short walk over the bridge and you are in downtown Chimney Rock. Built in 1921, the cottage retains many charming elements from its past, such as 10 foot bead-board ceilings and a natural stone fireplace with gas logs for chilly mountain evenings.
WE HAVE A LOCAL MANAGER AND CARETAKER WHO CAN PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE YOU MIGHT NEED DURING YOUR STAY!
The cottage has three porches furnished for outdoor living and dining, complete with rocking chairs and ceiling fans. The back screened porch overlooks the river and the open front porch is directly below Chimney Rock, affording a beautiful view of "The Rock" which is dramatically illuminated in the evenings. However, our guests say their favorite spot for reading and relaxing is the large screened side porch where the sounds of the rushing river often lull you to sleep.
The Rocky Broad River is excellent for fly fishing, wading and tubing and is just steps from your back door! It's a River Rose Cottage tradition to spend an evening with family and friends around a campfire roasting hot dogs and marshmallows down by the river. Located within walking distance to village shops and restaurants and less than a mile from Lake Lure, River Rose Cottage is perfect for a family vacation, or a romantic getaway for two.
IF YOU HAVE A LARGER GROUP WE ALSO HAVE CRIMSON COTTAGE FOR RENT ON THE SAME STREET ( LISTED WITH VRBO ). COMBINED, THE TWO COTTAGES CAN SLEEP A MAXIMUM OF 14 PEOPLE. GREAT FOR A FAMILY REUNION.

Map & Owner's Profile
"River Rose" Historical 1920's Cottage on Rocky Broad River
Year Purchased: 2003
Why the Owner Chose Chimney Rock
We love outdoor activities and they are abundant here. You can walk down to the river in the back of the cottage to fish, wade or tube. Hiking and exploring Chimney Rock State Park is lots of fun and the entrance to the Park is very close by. The Lake Lure Marina is just a mile away where you can take a run (or walk) on the pedestrian trail, rent a canoe, play a game of tennis while the kids enjoy the playground equipment, or swim and enjoy water games at the Lake Lure Beach,
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
First thing in the morning, we walk to the Lake Lure Marina and run on the pedestrian trial that weaves along the shoreline of Lake Lure. Back at the cottage, we have breakfast on the screen porch overlooking the river. If we are in the mood for hiking, we pack a picnic lunch and hike in Chimney Rock State Park. Our sons really enjoy the rock climbing tower there. After a strenuous day hiking, my wife enjoys a soak in the Jacuzzi tub that we recently installed when we renovated one of the bathrooms. We have dinner in one of the lakefront restaurants in Lake Lure and sample the local trout. Howver, if we're feeling lazy, we just enjoy spending the day reading while sitting in one of the rockers on the screen porch and listening to the soothing sounds of the Rocky Broad River, right out the back door.
Walk to the shops and restaurants in Chimney Rock Village from River Rose Cottage
Hike to 400' waterfall, take 22 story elevator inside mountain to see gorgeous long range mountain views. Gift shop, snack shop, rock climbing, children's trail.
Rent a canoe and explore beautiful Lake Lure or take a narrated pontoon boat cruise to learn the history of the lake.
Owner's Map of Chimney Rock
Our family enjoys staying at River Rose Cottage because it is located on a charming village lane and is just a short walk over the bridge to Chimney Rock Village. We enjoy visiting the shops, sampling the family oriented restaurants, gem mining, and walking along the River Walk. We play mini golf in the village and enjoy the beautiful mountain and river views.
