This house is immaculate and truly comfortable. With unobstructed views of the water from most rooms and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy, Hayden Point is a relaxing retreat. On a quiet dead-end road, the house overlooks a salt waterway leading to the Atlantic.
Hayden Point owns 100 feet of saltwater frontage making east access to the river for fishing, kayaking or canoeing via steps leading down to a small floating dock. There is also a boat launch open for public use about one half mile from the Hayden Point House.
The kitchen contains everything you need to cook a gourmet meal, but you also can get some of the best lobster in Maine 5 minutes away, and you are only five miles from downtown Rockland, which has several outstanding restaurants, as well as a fine art museum, galleries and shops. Camden is a short distance as well.
This craftsman style home built in 2004 has 2.5 baths and sleeps 8 adults in three bedrooms (children are welcome, too!). A private master suite with water views has a king-size bed and sitting area, a large bathroom with a garden tub and custom walk in shower, and two vanities (one within the bathroom and one in the hallway to the bath). A second bedroom on the ground floor has a queen-sized bed and small sitting area, and a nearby half bath. Upstairs there is a second full bath off a very large bedroom with a big sitting area, games table and 180 degree spectacular water views. The king-sized bed in this room can be separated into two extra-long twin beds and there also is a queen sleeper sofa. A portable crib is provided as well. The house has a great deal of closet space and drawers for storage. All linens are provided and are 100% cotton. A washer and dryer on the main level provided as well.
The first floor is the main living space with an open dining room, which seats 6-8 people, and living room overlooking the lawn and the water beyond. The kitchen is fully-equipped with solid-surface counter tops, cherry cabinetry, an electric oven, gas cook-top, dishwasher, trash-compactor, microwave, double-door refrigerator and dishwasher and a walk-in pantry. The kitchen has a breakfast nook and double French doors leading to the wraparound deck. The deck has a table, plenty of seating and a large Weber gas grill.
The living room and den area is outfitted with comfortable and stylish furnishings, a flat-screen television, cable, a DVD player, stereo and Internet access. Large windows overlook the deck and the expansive lawn and waterfront. Novels, local guide books and maps are also included.
Hayden Point has 100 feet of saltwater frontage making access to the river for fishing, swimming, kayaking or canoeing easy from the front yard and steps leading down to a small floating dock. There is also a boat launch open for public use about one half mile from the Hayden Point House.
South Thomaston is located just five miles from downtown Rockland, 15 miles from Camden/Rockport and five miles from the St. George Peninsula and the villages of Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde. Hayden Point is less than 10 minutes from Primo, one of the best restaurants in New England.
Dogs are allowed with owner permission and additional pet fee.

We spent hours on the internet searching for the perfect place for a month in Maine to celebrate my husband's recent retirement. The time spent was well-worth the effort because we eventually discovered this lovely property on Hayden Point in South Thomaston, with the city of Rockland, Rockland Harbor, 5 lighthouses, and a number of other charming villages within a short driving distance. The design and decor of this home was so aesthetically inspiring that we spent many hours there relaxing, reading, and eating in just for the pleasure of being in the home, with it's quiet setting, abundant windows looking out to the tidal cove just beyond the back lawn, and the joy of cooking in the spacious and well-equipped kitchen. Don't miss the Keag ("Gig") general store 5 min away (they will cook lobster for you) along with other general stores, small libraries, and miniature post offices in the area villages. We enjoyed several nights at the Strand Theater in Rockland, devoted to artistic and independent films. And the Farnsworth Art Museum and Wyeth Center are a must. The only reluctance in writing a review of this treasure is that it will attract so many other vacationers that we will have a hard time getting a reservation! Highly recommended. Another outstanding feature of this rental is that it is isolated enough to not be in a touristy location with all the shops and restaurants that so expensively and crowded-ly cater to visitors. That was important to us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our first trip to Maine was terrific and your home was the perfect place to launch our daily outings. We were able to easily access points of interest North and South, spend downtime relaxing, fishing, reading and or simply enjoying the view. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the upstairs loft, referring to it as their own apartment. You've stocked with everything a cook needs for a home cooked meal, books for reading or a soft blanket to curl up for a nap. The house is immaculate and all our questions as we were finalizing details for our stay were responded to promptly. We'll certainly be back again and would recommend your home to anyone considering a trip to Maine. Best regards, Bill and Jody CoutrosDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I, along with two large teen boys, spent a wonderful week in this house. It had more than enough room for us -- and we were able to spread out easily. The upstairs loft was perfect for the boys - we turned it over to them completely and they enjoyed the independence immensely. The WiFi worked well and the iPod dock was in full use at all times. Lots of screens open up this home even more, and we had wonderful breezes all day and evening. We BBQ'ed often and took full advantage of the spacious deck and yard. We had kayaks delivered and enjoyed many mornings and afternoons exploring the channel in front of this home. The kitchen was fully stocked with wonderful plates, pans and all utensils I could think of... I've never had a rental that was so complete. Having the laundry room was great as well. My husband and I treasured waking up in the master bedroom each morning to see the water flowing in, and the robins hopping on the lawn and enjoyed the quiet breezes coming in the windows. It was really heaven. I should also note that the house was VERY clean when we checked in -- not always the case with rentals, and this made us extremely happy. We had 3 rainy days while at this house and it is a testament to how happy we were -- no one complained once! We had books and games to keep us busy and when that failed, a cocktail sitting by the window and looking out at the view set everything right again. If you are looking for a well designed home, in a lovely setting, in close proximity to many of the mid-coasts' best towns -- this is your spot.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We found this to be a gorgeous property with all the comforts of home. The back deck overlooked the tidal river and the breeze carried the delishious smell of salt water. The ocean was within walking distance, with hiking, biking and kayaking minutes away, or right out the front door. A daily dose of bird watching from the back deck was never dissapointing. Bald eagles, Osprey's, and Herons, were a common sight. The selection of gourmet restaurants within a few miles was amazing. Primo was a favorite and is a MUST! We visited local farm markets, and well known "foodie"shops and were deighted with the selection of goods and produce. The town of Rockland hosts constant events. We spent our Saturday evening being treated to wine and hors d'oeouvr's at the multiple art galleries downtown. The surroundings were quiet, and the weather was great. Overall we had a wonderful vacation, and would highly recommend this property. The quintessential Maine experience!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing.

This is a great place to stay while visiting the mid-coast! Nestled on a quiet street (great for walks) the house is spacious, very comfortable, beautifully appointed, and immaculate. The views from the living room, kitchen, upstairs, and outdoor areas are delightful from sunrise to sunset. A real treat for birders! Easy distance from Rockland, Camden, and Belfast for wonderful food, music, art, bookstores, hiking, etc. OR just kick back on the porch and let the rhythm of the tides set your schedule. Of the many fabulous things we did while here, food was a favorite! We enjoyed simple local fare like lobster club sandwiches and blueberry pancakes (fresh lobster is just a heartbeat away in South Thomaston!) as well as more sophisticated locally responsible and sustainable award-winning cuisine. Very relaxing, great time. We will definitely return, already looking forward to our next visit!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, pet owners, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I stayed at this lovely home last year and the year before. The location is great, and the house is especially clean with nice linens and pretty dishes. The welcoming factor is the open layout, perfect if someone were in a wheelchair. The great selection of windows in the living room facing the water gives you a feel of being outside, yet has a privacy factor about it. One of my favorite memories is having a sunset dinner on the deck. The kitchen is well equipped and the local store is within sight and has steamy lobsters waiting for a good home! Between the colors of the sunset, the trees in the yard, good food and friends, life just doesn't get much better than this. The upstairs sleeps 4 and works as living quarters for teens or extended family. Since there are washer and dryer, hairdryers, and a selection of spices and such, just grab your toothbrush and go! That way you have room left in your suitcase to bring home treasures from Maine and the local consignment shops. The owners are kind and flexible, they have plenty of maps and phone #'s to help you feel like a local.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This home was a big step up from most rental properties we've visited. It feels like a brand new finely-built home with quality furniture and amenities. We stayed with another couple, and while they had the large master suite on the main floor, we chose the large upstairs room, which was more like a studio apartment with lots of light, great views, a king-sized bed, and a sitting area. The location is great - just a few minutes to a wonderful Maine "general store" with great lobster rolls, a few more minutes to a great beach with a hiking trail, and only a few more minutes to downtown Rockland, which has to be one of the most charming small towns on the Maine coast. We also took a drive down the peninsula to Port Clyde for a boat right to Monhegan Island - a highly recommended day trip. We loved this house and this area so much; we'll definitely return. If you're looking for a Maine home-away-from-home, this is the place.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The house is absolutely beautiful, with well maintained gardens and a waterfront that is right out of a Currier & Ives print. There is plenty of room for large groups or families, but small enough for an intimate getaway. There seemed to be festivals of all kinds every weekend, all within a short drive. If you like lighthouses, this is the place to be. All items needed for a comfortable stay are provided and of excellent quality..even a washer and dryer. Maine in the summer is breathtaking and I would recommend a visit to both the state and this property to everyone.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I would highly recommend this rental property! The home is beautiful, spacious and comfortable, filled with light and very nicely decorated. The kitchen has everything you need and there is a large deck with a grill just outside. The house is situated on a tidal river, so the wonderful view of the water changes throughout the day. We found the scenery to be peaceful and lovely. It's a quick drive to Rockland with its shops, restaurants and museums and to the ocean as well. We had a wonderful time and are looking forward to the next visit!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
