Guest Book #1: Dear Ben and Erica: Thank you for sharing your magnificent mountain getaway with us, six young professionals on holiday from the hustle bustle of NYC. Upon our arrival, we built a roaring fire which warmed our bodies and our spirits. We spent two lovely days exploring the lovely Catskills. On day one, some of us enjoyed the powder of Hunter Mountain. Day two brought our group to the four-star Emerson Spa where we relaxed with sensual massages and soaks in the outdoor hot tub. You have a warm home, and we would recommend it to anyone needing to get away. Thank you! From, Ben, Elizabeth, Jen, Nathan, Sarah, Shannon
Guest Book #2: What a comfortable house in such beautiful surroundings. We especially delighted in the surrounding brook and fire pit. It's rare to find a cabin with so many little luxuries combined with rustic simplicity. We took a pretty walk on the reservoir path and had a tasty pizza at a restaurant down the road (Merlina's?). We saw hummingbirds last night in the backyard! Thanks for a lovely time!! -- L & N Families
Guest Book #3: Dear Ben & Erica: Thank you so much! We wanted a getaway to a quiet place with snow to celebrate New Year in a peaceful home. This is more than we could imagine. Everything was perfect! This was the first time my son saw snow, he loved it! We even saw a bunch of footprints in the backyard! It was so cozy here! The simple, yet treasured, smell of firewood in the wood stove, made everything seem like a dream come true. Thank you for making this New Year one of the best we had! -- The L Family

All the general impressions of loveliness that other reviewers have shared are accurate. Here are a few additional, more specific perks. First, the arrangement of rooms lends itself well to big groups. The kitchen, living room, and fireplace all occupy the same area of the house. People cooking, people stoking fires, people changing the music, people making snarky comments on the couches are all within in 15 ft of each other. It's great. The house is essentially a rectangle. The kitchen/living/dining occupy one end of the house and the bedrooms occupy the other end, sort of in a line. This proved helpful because those who had to get up earliest slept in the farthest room, relatively isolated from any revelry that continued late. The house is well stocked with games, blankets, firewood, spices, etc. We didn't spend much time exploring the property behind the house, but did romp about in nearby forests, rivers, etc. Fishing and hiking were both only half an hour a way (and I believe there were even closer options). I'll write again here what I wrote in the guest book: "Came up here with a close crew of friends; because of this house we're even closer."Did you find this review helpful? Six friends and I stayed at this Catskills oasis and had the most amazing time. The house is so cool (loved the secret closet and awesome decor) , the surrounding area stunning and is pretty much the ideal place to take advantage of the area. The owner, Ben, was so generous with his time and very responsive to the many questions we had, which was invaluable. We didn't want our weekend to end and are already planning our return in the spring! Nassie et alDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Holy cow, we can't thank you enough for having us stay in your beautiful home. Absolutely Perfect! (And exactly what we needed to escape the city... peace and quite, completely serene...) We will certainly be back and your swimming hole recommendation scored BIG with our group. Between that, the fire pits out back, the BBQ grill and the hummingbirds we really debated if we'd ever leave - lol. :-) Thank you so much!!Did you find this review helpful? This was a great place to get away from the city and unwind, thanks for making the house so comfortable. We really enjoyed the fire pit and the yard. The house was clean and felt like it had been left ready for us to arrive. Ben, thanks for being so helpful and quick to respond when we were booking. We are really looking forward to our next visit.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Just a quick note to let you know we had a great time in the house this past weekend. So very cozy and in a great area. Close to both Woodstock and excellent hiking etc… The weather threw us a bit of a curveball with snow on Saturday, but that just made it nicer to cozy up by the fire place. We will definitely keep your place in mind should we head up there again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Ben was the most gracious host we could imagine and the house and property are simply wonderful. We have a dog who was in heaven every time we took him outside and the yard even has a small fenced in area which is a rare find in the country and a bonus when you have a husky who can't be trusted off leash! The property has 2 small creeks running through it and feels very private and tucked away. It was also great for cooking and entertaining (nice kitchen, huge dining room). We'll definitely be back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I took my parents who were visiting from Australia here for a weekend of relief from the city. It was beyond what we needed. So lush, and clean, and private. The house is cosy & really quaint. All of the attention to detail really brings the house to life. We stayed in and cooked (incredibly equipped kitchen) and explored the area during the day. The little bridge over the stream is such a nice touch. Went for a long walk, and explored woodstock too. But it felt so so wonderful to come back to this house! The property is really a gem!!!!! We will be coming back and it was truly one of the buggest highlights of my parents trip.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a lovely time and you have quite the place. We really enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and just kicking back and sitting on the platform in the backyard. You should advertise the platform! Such a nice view sitting on there... We managed to find the "blue hole" waterway to swim in, and also found our way to the Hanes Falls where we hiked down to the water and swam all day. Didn't make it to the hike you suggested, but definitely want to check that out next time! Hope you are having a nice beginning to the summer and thanks again for letting us stay at your great place! Had such a wonderful time, and hope to stay there again! Thanks, ClaireRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This was our second stay. We're so glad our friends recommended this lovely mountain home to us. We enjoyed the huge yard which was great for throwing around a football or baseball! Evenings were perfect making smores at the bonfire pit. The house is clean and in great condition. And the owners are responsive and a joy to deal with. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

About the owner: As a couple who lives day-to-day in NYC, we love to use this house ourselves and so we've taken great care to ensure it has everything that we want when we're there. We like using real, non-rental dishes with high-end pots and pans. We like using wireless internet connections that actually work, wireless iTunes connections to the stereo plus an iPod port, the ability to fax when necessary, the ability to turn on an alarm system, using a wine fridge, playing basketball out front, watching fire in the pits out back or in the fireplace inside, using a massive Weber BBQ grill and dimmer switches everywhere. We're also insane about keeping things CLEAN. :-) With all that we just decompress. Watch the deer or the hawks or the hummingbirds. Or just read a book while listening to the streams babbling by on either side of the property. Regardless, just love our place as much as we do and don't hesitate to call with questions while you're there.
