A Stunning Retreat!

I (along with friends) stayed at Mulino di Anqua for 2 months (mid October-mid December). What a treat! Everything about this place is stunning. Even though we were here during the “low-season”, we enjoyed it thoroughly. We used both villas – enjoying both the privacy and the ability to be together when we wanted (the 2 villas are only 20 steps apart) The quality and detail of the restoration takes you to a different place and time. Everything is of the finest quality .We love cooking, so the well-equipped kitchen and outdoor barbecue were perfect! We enjoyed walking right from the property to explore the peaceful Tuscan countryside. We enjoyed nearby Radicondoli village the most as it was a nice change of pace from Siena and the larger villages – still offering great restaurants, markets, pharmacy, etc and truly kind and genuine village people .We delighted in the beautiful wines and vineyards of Chianti –only a 30 mn drive from the property. Mulino di Anqua was such a nice retreat after a long day of touring – we loved the pleasant sound of the stream running nearby. The fresh, pure well water for drinking and bathing in was a delight . We look forward to returning next summer so we can dine al fresco and enjoy the pool and waterfall area. Thank you, Gerardo, for a wonderful stay!

We stayed at Mulina the first week in Oct 2011. It was myself, husband and our 3 year old son. From the first contact with Gerardo he was warm and hospitable and willing to answer questions. When we arrived we had a car full of luggage and had not stopped at the grocery store and though we had set up to have dinner cooked for us near the end of our stay Gerardo very kindly offered to make us dinner that night. His mother was visiting at the time and we were fortunate enough to arrange for her to cook for us 2 nights. After dinner the first night we had no desire to go out because 1) 8pm dinner with a 3 year old is not fun, and 2) the food was so great we didn't want to drive 1/2 hr for food that wouldn't be as good! 3 of the dinners were simple casual pasta and one dinner was a prearranged "fancy meal". Gerardo cooks as a hobby but you would never know it was a hobby with his timing and presentation. He even put on music and poured the pre dinner champagne. I can honestly say the 4 meals we had there were the best we had in Italy, and we were traveling around for a month. We were able to use the pool and the sauna although it was already quite cool for the pool at the time. Our son loved jumping off the wall into our arms in the deep end or wading in the shallow pool. The interior is very well appointed with cozy down pillows and duvets and super soft cotton sheets. Terra cotta floors down stairs and wood floors upstairs. If you have the option of having Gerardo or his mom cook for you I highly recommend it. She doesn't speak any English but we had an Italian translation (spoken) on our iPhone that worked great with the wifi in the house so we had no problems. We not only enjoyed our stay because the property was nice but it was made that much better by the warmth and welcome of the owners.

I am a travel agent and I booked this property for my client. To quote her, "fabulous, fantastic, breathtaking". The property was clean and well maintained. Gerardo was a phenominal host. I asked to have the villa stocked with some staples and everything was there upon her arrival. Gerardo (a wonderful chef) prepared a welcome dinner for my client and her guests. He provided some menu suggestions from which I made my selections. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone. In fact, one of my client's guest's is discussing another visit with her family.

I spent a wonderful week in Tuscany with the villa as my home base. It is well situated and allowed me to easily see much of the area by car or bus including Florence, Fiesole, Assisi (via train from Florence), San Gimignano, Siena, Chianti and Pisa. Gerardo and Lisa are wonderful hosts; Lisa is American so communication is easy and Gerardo is a fantastic cook! Ask him to make his wonderful fish! The pool is relaxing if you just want to hang out at the house and enjoy the sunshine. The villa itself is precious, the best of modern life with an old world feel. Open all the windows for the best night breeze ever!

I and my family stayed one wonderful week at Mulino di Anqua. Gerado and Lisa were wonderful hosts and were avialable for any request we may have had. The property is in a quite and beautiful part of Tuscany and has easy access to all major towns and cities in Tuscany. Located down an easy to travel dirt road just accross a large stream. It has all the amenities that one could hope for. A Beautiful outdoor pool, cold water pluge pool and wet and dry sauna's. Also, has a very nice outdoor oven/grill and patio for outdoor dining. The house is classic tuscan in design, finishes and furnishing. All around a nice place to spend a quite vacation in the countryside of Tuscany. Have Gerardo cook you dinner one night and make sure you go into Radicondoli for dinner and a sunset.

...and that was in the off-season! I had a short stay at this property in November. Even in the off season it was a delight. The architectural detail and furnishings are absolutely exquisite. The place was spotless and well appointed (linens, kitchen utensils, enough service for entertaining)- I couldn't have wanted for anything. The owner was extremely responsive to all requests and questions. Even in the off season it was a wonderful retreat-I can only imagine the beauty in the summer. All you hear is the babbling brook on the property. There are secluded little nooks for reading and resting. There are hiking/mountain biking trails out the front gate. The steam and sauna are luxurious ways to unwind after a day of exercise. This property looks as though it has just been renovated so everything is new and beautiful. The town of Radicondili is adorable and the people are very friendly. La Pergola restaurant is a must for homemade pasta and the thinnest crust pizza on the planet. I can't wait to return!
