The Unique Benefits at this House
We enjoy the privacy and the oneness with nature from watching eagles soar overhead to gazing at the stars at night in the steaming bubbles of a waterfront hot-tub; we enjoy the peacefulness of a crackling fire after a day of swimming, kayaking, hiking, fishing, skiing or snow-shoeing. But most of all we enjoy the comfortable spaciousness of the Lodge whenever we share it with family or friends.

Fantastic experience! Perfect for large groups!

We spent a weekend at the Raquette Lodge with a large group. We could not have asked for a more beautiful, private, and memorable location! It was spacious, clean, and stunning, and the owners were a pleasure to work with. We honestly could not have imagined finding a more perfect spot in all of the Adirondacks, especially not for such a reasonable price. We had many outdoor enthusiasts in our group, who were all thrilled by the easy hiking, kayaking, and canoeing access. Others simply enjoyed relaxing by the fireplace or taking in the gorgeous views from the hot tub. Truly a fabulous spot for large families or groups. We have already gotten many phone calls from people in our group asking how soon we can all go back! Thanks for a truly memorable and wonderful experience.

We picked Raquette River Lodge for a family getaway and I am so pleased that we did! There was plenty of room for our family of 13 people which included small children and a baby. Even in the midst of Winter, we were so warm and comfortable and there was plenty to keep everyone entertained. We made good use of the hot tub, snow shoes and the large kitchen. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The loft worked out perfectly for the 3 older children and one of the Queen sized rooms allowed plenty of space for the babies crib. The extra long dining table enabled us to enjoy meals together as a family which was one of the reasons we wanted to take a weekend away. The owners were very helpful throughout the entire process and we will definately be back. Would definately recommend Raquette River for anyone looking to experience privacy, serenity and amenities to reconnect family and friends.

We spent there several days between Christmas and New Year's. In spite of a lack of any substantial snow coverage (we rented with the hopes of skiing), we had a fantastic time. The lodge is very well appointed and cozy. The kitchen was very well supplied with all needed utensils. With the exception of beds that could have better covers, everything else was clean, well maintained and functional. The hot tub is definitely a huge attraction and I can see it being so at any time of the year - we sat there in a something of an icy squall. The view from most windows is really nice and a nearby river (looks more like a lake) offers beautiful vistas at any time of the year. Our hosts were incredibly attentive and accomodating. Our friends from Canada were coming on Christmas day and given the ban on most food stuff from Canada, and closed stores on Christmas day in the US, they would be chewing on bark if not for Donna and her staff who went grocery shopping for my friends according to the shopping list they provided. Clearly over and beyond what is normally expected. I also want to thank Donna and John for their farsightedness: on the last day one of our friends left his car doors open and his car battery died. We were ready to help out but nobody had jumper cables: nobody that is except Donna and John who had them conveniently stored for just such occasions. We were rescued from a very unpleasant delay in our departure. Once again, Thank you guys for thinking ahead!! Lake Placid is nearby (~1 h drive) and if one so desires, one can find all kinds of interesting restaurant venues (we recommend Liquids and Solids). Hiking trails are also close by. If winter comes all kinds of winter activities are possible, and judging by all kinds of trophies on the walls one can hunt there as well. Most of all, it is peaceful, beautiful, and quiet. A real gem in the woods.
Owner response:We appreciate the wonderful review you wrote and the time you put into telling about your experience at the Lodge. We also thank you for bringing to our attention the poor condition of some of the bed covers. When we read your review, we went to the Lodge and were embarrassed that you were entirely right! We have ordered a number of new bed covers and have asked our staff to be more aware of such important details.

What a wonderful experience! There was 11 of us all together and we had a magnificent time. We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet, the serenity and the stillness that The Lodge offers. It snowed or rained 6 out of the 7 days we were there but it did not matter...The kids still explored, kayaked, canoed and played volleyball. Thank you so much for sharing your place with us! We definitely want to come back.

We stayed at Raquette Lodge for our annual girls getaway. There were 15 of us in total. This Lodge is absolutely beautiful, comfortable and well equipped. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to prepare our meals. We made full use of the amenities including the hot tub, the pontoon boat and the indoor and outdoor fireplaces. It is large enough that we never felt crowded and the best thing was that the living area is large enough to accomodate our group in one space so that we could all spend time together. The dining table is large and comfortably fit our group. The property itself is beautiful, clean and well kept. It is very private which was nice that we felt we were in our own paradise and we did not have to worry about bothering neighbours. There is a small grocery store just around the corner from the lodge that had everything you could possibly need. There is also a nice antique shop just around the corner that is nice for browsing. I would recommend this Lodge with no hesitation for large groups or families.

After staying at a few of John and Donna's other properties over the past few years, we rented the Lodge for a beautiful fall weekend in October. As with their other properties, it was wonderful; well-maintained, full of character, and well- appointed. The layout was great for a large group of people and we spent the rainy days inside playing games and visiting near the large fire place. We also enjoyed the sprawling grounds and amenities. We are looking forward to our next stay!

Our hosts, Donna & John, were easily accessible, very friendly, and most accommodating. The Lodge was very clean and comfortable. The hot tub was awsome, in a private and scenic setting. Can't wait to return....

We found this place as was described, and then some more. The house was clean, spacious and nicely furnished. The owner was easily accessible by phone and answered questions as needed. By far the greatest highlight was the out of doors. We enjoyed the seclusion, the wildlife and the water. Our family especially enjoyed exploring the the surrounding water by using kayaks a canoe and the pontoon boat. The sand volleyball court was a great addition. My 10 yo and 13 yo say, "tell everyone they should not miss a chance to go to the Raquette Lodge."

Our family just returned from a week long vacation at Raquette Lodge. There were 16 of us ranging in age from 77 to 20. The lodge was absolutely spectacular. We were visited by loons, bald eagles, deer and the beaver who lives next door. Even though the weather didn't cooperate until the last day, we fished, hiked, climbed, played volleyball, sat in the hot tub and just hung out by the fire. Everything was as promised. We were already planning next year's trip as we were walking out the door to go home. We would definitely recommend this place. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to stay here.

We had 6 adults and 6 kids with plenty of room for everyone. The beautiful property had something for everyone - those in the hot tub could watch a rousing game of Boccie in a light snow, while the kids explored the property. Very quiet location with ample room in the house to be as engaged with or disconnected from the rest of the group as the mood struck. The huge dining table was perfect for full sit-down meals as well as games and arts and crafts. The loft with 3 beds was great for the kids. We slept 4 up there. The loft looks bigger in the pictures, and would be tight for more than 3 adults. The skylights were great for ventilation and would be perfect for a moonlit night. A great place we hope to return to next year.
