The vineyards are some of the best in the US and similar to southern France. Arizona Vineyards is a popular roadside attraction in Nogales on the way to Mexico. Located less than one hour from the resort, the wines are unique and have classic Southwestern names such as Rattlesnake Red, Desert Dust and Coyote Red. (520) 287-7972.

We came back for another visit to this wonderful vacation home. We had a great time visiting Old Tucson, wineries, old missions, museums, and of coarse, the art. Again, the the place extremely peaceful and we loved the views. The house remained very clean and modern, there is also now TV for something to do at night when we were not looking at the impressive stars! We plan to return again sometime soon.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.
Owner response: Thank you both. It was wonderful that you enjoyed this area a second time. Ranger seemed to like it too.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights and we enjoyed the house immensely. It's very clean and spacious at such a good price. Maryann has thought of everything you will need for a relaxing pleasant stay. It was very quiet and the weather is so amazing. We really enjoyed our time visiting this part of Arizona. Maryann was so thoughtful and helpful in promptly returning some valuables to us by courier that we forgot. Thanks so much Maryann!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Dear Kathy and Cortland, Thank you for visiting my home and your kind words regarding the location and the home. I am glad and honored to have hosted you two. Maryann

My husband and another couple stayed at this home and found a paradise and great retreat to spend early December. Everyday, we went to different places nearby. Madera Canyon is a wonderful place to walk around. The observatory nearby was also nice. The night skies let us see a great array of stars and some planets. We brought our telescopes and were in wonder of the clear night skies. The home was private and nice and we all enjoyed it tremendously. There was many air and space museums close by as well as the Biosphere. My husband needed a home without stairs and we found this home to be perfect. The back courtyard did not have stairs either. This is the perfect time of year and we had warm temperatures and sunny skies during the day. Thank you, Mary Ann!Recommended for: People with disabilities, sightseeing, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you!

Maryanns house made our five week stay in Arizona the perfect holiday for us. Clean well maintained and equipped we wanted for nothing. It was a wonderfal area to be based in with lots of things to do and places to explore. The Wineries in Sonoita are a must (make sure you have a designated driver!) The town of Douglas and the Slaughter Ranch, Bizbee, Madera Canyon, are all within an easy drive and well worth the effort. We found some good eating places Marias in Tubac served excellent breakfast, the Cow Palace a very friendly family run resturant with a good varied menu and of course the famous Wisdoms. Best of all for us was at the end of a long day of exploring we had Maryanns wondeful house to come back to, thank you Maryann, see you next year!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners.
Owner response: Thank you for the wonderful review! The next couple who came loved the vineyards too. The hummingbirds are still coming for their nectar in the patio. I look forward to your visit! Maryann

We just returned from a delightful week's stay in this great house. Very comfortable and clean, in a beautiful and pristine setting. All we could ask in a rental house, with a good price too.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, pet owners.
Owner response: I am so glad that you enjoyed the home; I enjoyed you two and your well behaved doggies. It sounded like you enjoyed getting away for the cold winter climate of Northern Arizona. Please come again! Maryann

We stayed for in May for 2 nights. The house was great - very nice and clean, well equipped, fenced in lot. Nice views of the Mountains. A nice drive to the propety on a good road, bringing you to the location. Out in the country, yet neighbors near by so you dont feel completely isolated. We set up our telescope and enjoyed the stars at night. During the day, we visited Tubac, Patagonia, Sonoita and the vineyards there. Had a nice lunch at the Velvet Elvis in Patagonia. I would definitely return and recommend. thanks MaryAnne!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners.
Owner response: Thank you or leaving me a bottle of wine from one of our local vineyards. I had no idea that we had such good wine!

Map needed to show mileage-it's 20 miles from town, few streetlights, not good night driving.House was very nice, owner very friendly but needed to be gently reminded we came for privacy-should not have scheduled repairman while we were there, nor shown up early am herself to do yard work, especially since she had a day or so's vacancy after us and before next guests. We gave up and left a day early.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: The road was being repaired and it is not that far from town. Only 10-12 minutes. The repairman was scheduled a month before and this is the only time that he could come. I am so sorry, but the repair was needed and I keep everything in good repair.

We enjoyed our 8 days in April. The house was wonderful, and the location was ideal. We did a lot of hiking, from Saguaro Park in Tuscon to Ramsey Canyon near Sierra Vista. Madera Canyon is very close, with quite a lot to offer. There are many locations to see birds (with some even hanging around the house). Maryann was very helpful, and we had a great stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind words about my house. I love the outdoors and the great hikes and historial places around here so that is why I own a home here. Hope to see you again in the future. Maryann

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay in Mary Ann's clean and comfortable home. It was well equipped and attractively furnished. The setting is lovely, surrounded by desert landscape and mountains. We also appreciated the large selection of channels, particularly the movie channels, on the satellite TV.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

"This is a wonderful place to get reasonable gifts for family and friends. There are also several restaurants that I would recommend: Hacienda, Leos which are four and two blocks respectively. Dollars are fine to use but bring small bills so you don't get stuck with extra pesos. Los Rocka is also good and it is on the left hand side a few blocks away. It is best to park on the state side and walk across. Be certain to bring your passport. I also recommend Arizona Dental for inexpensive and good dental work. You can bargain for things so don't hesitate to do it."

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: Maryann is originally from Southern California. She grew up near Playa del Rey and has traveled throughout Mexico, Central America and northern South America, and Alaska. She has also traveled through Spain, France, Germany, Cyprus and around Calgery, Canada. . She enjoys birding near the Santa Cruz River and hiking. She teaches Culinary Arts at the Rio Rico High School and has over 95 students. She has been a professor at Northern Arizona University and at the University of Southern Mississippi. She is a mom and has two daughters and two sons all whom enjoy this location to hike, golf, and to hang out and relax.
Why the Owner Chose Tubac:
I built this home originally for myself, but since it only has only a 2 car garage, I decided on building another one that has a 3 car garage. I live in this same area as I enjoy star gazing and bird watching and walking in the wilderness. It is close to Madera Canyon where there are pine trees. The evenings always have a nice, gentle breeze and you can look forward to sunny, pristine skies that are some common in Arizona. I love the birdwatching from almost every window in the house.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
If you like to see the stars that are visible from the dark, clear skies of this area, this is the area for you. There are also a lot of wild life in the area and there is the faint sound of an occasional train in the valley below. The Tumaccari Mountains and Elephant Rock can been seen from this location and the sunsets and sunrises are superior.
Tubac has a unique feel to it with rich culture of Spain, Mexico and Arizona and it has many fun and historical places. There is a festival of the lights Dec 4-6th and an art walk on that Friday. There is a new HD 32 inch Sony TV with Dish Satelite Service. There is another HD TV in the office!
