Snowmass Village house description
This house, at 35 Janss Lane, is 5 homes from the very top of Wood Road, which runs up the center of the mountain. We see everything from Daly Peak to Sam's Knob, Big Burn, the Cirque, High Alpine and Elk Camp. The ski access takes you to the bottom of the SECOND lift, Coney Glade, letting you avoid all the crowds at the bottom of the mountain. With a week ski pass and groceries, you would enjoy incredible privacy - or you could go to Aspen and schmooze with the glitteratti. Easy ski-in access is just indirect enough to preserve your privacy - there are three alternatives to ski or walk out.
Four bedrooms with en-suite baths, all with mountain views - two kings, one twin, one quad. Sleeps 10. Hot tub accommodates 8 or more. Wireless high speed internet; all the usual TV and audio equipment. Weber gas grill on the deck.
Ready and waiting for your perfect vacation!

This is a wonderful home at the top of Wood Run. We had 5 adults and 2 children and there was plenty of room. The kitchen, dining room and living room were spacious and filled with light and incredible views of Snowmass and the surrounding mountains. The 2 upper bedrooms were beautiful, and the bedrooms on the lower level were great for families with a big bunk room for kids. We very much enjoyed the board games and hot tub as well (although not at the same time!). The owners were very helpful before and during our stay. For experts, it is easy to ski-in/ski-out to the driveway. For intermediates or beginners it is necessary to walk up the road - but only a couple of minutes. All in all, we had a wonderful time in this beautiful house and would highly recommend it.

We have stayed at this fabulous mountain home in Snowmass Village for the past four years. Just got back to hot Dallas after two wonderful weeks at the home. Our stay could not have been more enjoyable. The location is superb with terrific views from all windows and the wonderful deck. We did not try the hottub this year, but it did look inviting. The home's physical layout is really well thought out. We had our daughter and 3 grandkids during our stay this year and the house worked well for us. Plenty of room and the kitchen/dining area is better than our home in Dallas. Cannot say enough good things about this property! We will be back for certain. The Burnetts

Perfectly designed, absolutely welcoming
Perfectly designed, absolutely welcoming
My husband and I have stayed in this Jans Road home both winter and summer, with and without, our friends the owners in residence with us. The home is superbly designed for multiple families or up to 4 couples with on suite baths throughout. The views from the kitchen remind you are in a skier's paradise. You may even be tempted to try skinning up the mountain with the fit bodies you can watch doing just that each morning as you sip your coffee. The large dining table and cozy living room inspire guests to just hang which, to my way of thinking, is what a vacation is all about. And don't forget the summer months. Fabulous hiking, fishing and some truly breathtaking (as in harrowing....) mountain biking are there for the taking. P.S. I am in the Elk Camp photo (in red).

Our entire family of 8 adults and 5 kids spent a week in this beautiful home. There is ample sleeping space and the home is well stocked with everything you may need for a fun-filled ski vacation! The owners even stopped by while they were in town visiting family and they couldn't have been nicer. It is clear that this home has been the site of many wonderful memories for the owners and their guests - we felt lucky to have been able to enjoy our family vacation in such a treasured space.

Perfect family vacation home!
Perfect family vacation home!
This was our 4th trip to Snowmass and this was by far our nicest accommodations! We were two families of 5 and we had a lot of room. Everybody had a comfortable bed. There are two master suites plus two bedrooms on the first floor- one for the boys and one for the girls. The pictures on the listing are accurate. The kitchen is magnificent and a pleasure to work in. Before the trip the Wards (the owners) were very helpful and honest. They answered all our questions (and we had many) honestly. Although we had plenty of information on the house before the trip, upon our arrival, we were pleasantly surprised. We had no idea (after 3 other stays on snowmass) that the house could be this nice!!

About: My husband and I, both physicians, bought this lot in 12 hours sight unseen when my brother, a local real estate agent, called to tell us that it had gone on the market. I grew up in the Aspen area, and knew how special this lane is. Even though we were not thinking retirement, both of our sons ended up going to college in the west, and this home that we built quickly became our favorite holiday haven. Skiing, snowboarding, fishing, hiking, pack trips through the mountains, summer concerts - We love it all.
Why Snowmass Village:
For years we considered buying, because our family didn't fit well into my brother's or my mother's home. Not until the perfect lot became available did we consider buying and building. We look down at the valley AND up at the ski hill - on a special little ridge off Wood Road, where several of the very first homes were built. (Mr. Janss was the original developer of Snowmass.) With binoculars, you can see this house from every high point on the mountain.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The house is spacious and every bedroom has a view. The two 'kids'' rooms - 6 twin beds in two rooms with intervening rumpus area - are separated from the 'adult' king bedrooms by a whole floor, allowing privacy. The hot tub is on the lowest level with the kids rooms. The large deck is off the living-dining room kitchen. The steam shower and the Jacuzzi, inside, are good for tired bones, as well. The fully appointed kitchen makes large meals for many people an easy assignment. We have every book you never read in high school, as well as best sellers, thrillers and beach trash. And we have a piano.

What a pretty house!
Cozy up to the fireplace and read a book while the kids are in ski school!
Ahh, a quiet master bedroom at the top of the house, looking out at snowy peaks!
The "dorm" - good for 4 kids, or one couple on a split king - awesome view!
C'mon in! Room for seven more, at least.
Gotta take the obligatory photo at the top of Elk Camp.
Come in the summer for hiking, fishing, music, biking, riding.
But you deserve that vacation cause it is somebody's birthday!
Nice oval table for lingering family dinners overlooking almost whole ski area
Haul out that wonderful chili - everybody is coming off the hill for lunch!
Your table is waiting!
The "guest master" - same size and same view as master bedroom, one floor down
Janss Lane is short but pretty. This was Thanksgiving 2010.
Or you could use the house as home base, and ski-tour the back country huts.
Of course, those trails are pretty steep....
