Our family of five loves this vacation home because it is close to everything 'Tahoe'. Whatever season you choose to vacation in North Lake Tahoe there is something to do for everyone. Our home is quiet and peaceful located on a cul-de-sac there is almost no traffic. The neighborhood is very safe for children.
The best part is that there are trail heads and great bike trails feet from the front door. The best trail is paved and winds thru the forest, great for bike rides or walking, within minutes you will find yourself at the 'North Tahoe Regional Park'. Here you will find great lake views, tennis courts, a disc golf course, snow sled hill, brand new soccer fields and a children's park. There are also mountain bike trails for every type, cross country ski trails, hiking trails and snow shoeing without ever getting in your car.
Take advantage of the brand new bike path that will take you straight to the shores and beaches of Lake Tahoe in 5 minutes. Within a short driving distance find the newly developed 'Village at Northstar' where you can find great shopping, fine dining and fun family activities such as ice skating, seasonal festivals, horseback riding and downhill skiing. Less than ten miles away you will cross state lines into Crystal Bay, Nevada where the nightlife is exciting with casinos, live music and great dining. However you choose to spend the day or night, the best part is coming back to our vacation home and enjoying the hot tub under the stars, looking at national preserved forest and listening the the creek babble. The house has been recently remodeled so expect to find new mattresses, new appliances, new carpeting, doors, windows and trim.

Our first red flag for this rental was as soon as the owner of the home received our check we never heard back from her. We asked numerous times for references for this property - we never received or heard back her. We checked in OK and then it started. First of all, the sink faucet leaked the whole time we were there - we had to put a towel on the floor to prevent people from slipping - we called and left a message she said she would send someone down to fix it - this was Monday - by Thursday no one still had come - she then gave me the number to call someone - I'm on vacation it's not my responsibility to call someone. The fridge was broken - three shelves were broken and we couldn't use them (we had a family of 11 for a week - that's a lot of fridge space that we can't use! With two babies on milk we couldn't even use the milk storage in door because that was broken as well). Unless you consider three ice trays and an ice bucket an ice maker then we had one. It states there is 2.25 baths - wrong. There were no bath tubs so you can't consider it a full bath - we have 5 children all taking baths - one with a broken arm that we had to bath in the leaky sink. There was a moldy smell so bad in the downstairs bath that my 3 year old nephew screamed every time he had to go in there. The shower curtain was moldy on the bottom and there was mold in the shower upstairs in the caulking. The shower head in the upstairs bathroom was so bad that we had to switch the shower heads every day to take showers. There is no A/C and only 1 fan in the house. The one fan in the living room is was going in the reverse direction so there was no cooling affect. The upstairs bedroom was so hot we had to wait till late late at night to go to sleep before it cooled down. Linens were provided but only 7 towels to shower with. No DVD player or video library - we brought movies for the kids - couldn't watch them. The park was 2 miles away not walking distance with children. The biggest issue we had was the owners kid WALKED into the house while we were eating lunch through the side door. No knocking - when he saw us he turned around and tried to leave - we then asked what he needed he said the internet number. Trying to get in touch with the lady is nothing short of frustrating when we did get to talk to her the first day she said "it's a rental" and basically to lower our expectations. We really enjoyed our time at Creekside Hideaway for a mini family reunion. We were very comfortable in the cozy, rustic surroundings. And so many outdoor activities to enjoy, all very close by. We spent many hours hiking and biking on the trail near the house. My grandchildren had a great time playing at the beach and playground. There are some excellent mountain biking trails nearby for the beginner or the expert. Restaurants and casinos are a short drive away for a change of pace. We would definitely recommend this home, especially for families.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, age 55+.
