1st time we used VRBO overseas...a fantastic choice....I lived in Paris for 3 years in the 90's.. Didier's property met all my (our) expectations. The fotos tell it all about the apartment...what they don't tell is the location. Metro bus terminus across the street gets you to the main sights (Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, Marais, Left Bank, etc) ...2 blocks towards the Seine and you can get the RER to Versailles. The neighborhood has everything ...2 small supermarkets, a bakery, a "fromagerie", a wine store (Nicolas), a green grocer...everything is there you need to make you feel like you're living Paris not just visiting. If you're there on Sunday, do the market on Rue Cler about a 20 minute walk away... a rotisserie chicken, cheese and a baguette and you're set for a wonderful lunch looking at the Eiffel Tower from the kitchen. Finally, there is Didier ...you cannot ask for a better host!

Paris - April 2012

Guest: Andy (Apex, NC USA)
Date of Stay: 05/04/12 Review Submitted: 05/13/12

Excellent experience with accommodation exactly as advertised. Location is right next to Eiffel Tower which is visible from the apartment, as is Invalides and Sacre Coeur in the distance. Many restaurants are within 10 minutes walking distance and are very good. The apartment is clean and has everything you need. It is on the 6th floor so climbing the stairs needs to be factored in - there is a small elevator if needed. Didier is a good host and was willing to help and offer advice if it was needed. All in all an enjoyable experience and a place I would highly recommend for a couple visiting Paris.

A lovely, immaculate and well equipped apartment in a fabulous location. Great shopping and restaurants nearby. Close to Rue Cler for great food and wine. Close to the Metro. Short walk to the park and Eiffel Tower. It was wonderful to sit at the kitchen table and see the Tower lit up at night. Didier was most accommodating and helpful. A gracious host. The photos and descriptions display the unit very well. Free WiFi and telephone was an added bonus. We were able to use this to find tickets for a great concert at St. Chappelle. We would gladly rent this apartment on our next trip to Paris.

Our week in Paris - 4/20/12 through 4/27/12

Guest: Mike (Alabama)
Date of Stay: 04/20/12 Review Submitted: 04/29/12

Our stay at Didier's place was great. Everything was as advertised. The apt was clean and recently renovated. It is small by US standards but most places in Europe would be. We enjoyed having a kitchen for morning coffee and to store snacks, etc. The location was perfect. We were basically right next door to the Eiffel Tower (2 blocks) and only a short block from the Champ du Mars. 2 blocks to the Seine. A short walk to Invalides. There are shops at the street level of the building for wine, cheese and groceries. Also there is a drug store and several Brasseries (restaurants). The metro is about a 10 minute walk. Bus stops are plentiful within 1/2 block. The RER station at Champ du Mars is 2 blocks away and will take you straight to Versailles. I will definately stay at Didier's place if I go to Paris again and would highly recommend it to anyone going there. It is a good balance of space, location and price.

Splendid stay at Didier's place

Guest: David & Alicia (United States)
Date of Stay: 03/19/12 Review Submitted: 03/29/12

We recently stayed 8 nights at Didier's apartment. Staying there was a treat in part because it brings Paris to your doorstep. The apartment, on Avenue de Suffren, is located about 1/2 block from Parc du Champs de Mars, home of the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower looms outside one of the apartment's large windows, while the other looks upon the extraordinary golden Dome at Hotel des Invalides, with a clear view of Sacre Coeur cathedral off in the distance. These were striking to see in the morning sunlight and even more so lit up at night. We would finish our days by watching the displays of hundreds of sparkling lights on the Eiffel Tower in the evenings at the top of the hour. The apartment is nicely appointed, akin to a model unit of a new condo development containing the latest appliances, designer lamps, and other winning touches. The apartment is small but is efficiently designed and adequate for two people. Overhead spots brightly light the kitchen and bathroom. The hot shower has good water pressure. Buying provisions from the small grocery next door and from the excellent nearby patisserie and fromagerie enabled us to enjoy a delightful breakfast in the apartment each morning as we planned our day's excursions to the accompaniment of music on Didier's stereo. We made frequent use of the espresso machine. The neighborhood is elegant and accessible to the rest of Paris. There is a great selection of restaurants, grocers, and chocolatiers on nearby Rue St. Dominque and Rue Cler, which are among the best streets in Paris to shop, dine, or to linger at a café. Bus #69 starts from the park about a block from the apartment. It takes you along St Dominique, up Rue du Bac and across the Seine to Rue de Rivoli, past the Hotel de Ville to Place de la Bastille in the Marais, and finally up to the famous Pere Lachaise cemetery. It is a great orientation tour. The apartment is also near the Metro stations at Champ de Mars (#6 line) and Ecole Militaire (#8 line) that connect to Paris' main attractions. The short walk along Avenue de Suffren to the Seine, where you can cross the Pont D'Iena and view the Eiffel Tower from the Trocadero, is well worth the effort. We enjoyed the constant presence of the Eiffel Tower as we departed for our day's adventures and as we returned home each night -- a constant reminder of the uniqueness of being in Paris. Didier's apartment was part of that wonderful experience and is highly recommended.

NYE in Paris, Bonne Anne.

Guest: Aaron (Las Vegas)
Date of Stay: 12/30/11 Review Submitted: 01/13/12

I wanted to take a moment to thank Didier for being a gracious host. My wife and I had a great time in this penthouse apartment this NYE. Although not large in sq footage, the place is much larger than an upgraded room at many hotels and the view of the tower is wonderful. There was plenty of space to roam when the murphy bead was tucked away in its closet. The bed was a queen but very comfortable. The location was fantastic and the apartment was nicely decorated and in great condition. The hall entrance could use updating but that is not to fault this property. Close to the action and all the amenities you would ever need. The restaurants below the apartment and down the street were great for lunches and snacks. The market is just below for wine, cheese and the croissants at the bakery were delicious. We highly recommend Carmine, it's Italian but one of the best things I ate during the trip was the bone marrow app there. Metro is a few blocks away but the walk is great, that's what you're there for. The only thing that needed attention were the bath and hand towels, a little scratchy. I am sure that was a rotation thing from the house cleaning crew. Highly recommended from the couple in Las Vegas!!!

This property had an extremely good location. Minutes from the Metros and the Eiffel Tower. You can see the tower from the kitchen penthouse window. There are numerous restaurants, grocery stores, even a cheese shop just steps away. While we didn't do much cooking, the apartment had all the tools including a stove top with three burners. The bed was very comfortable and the size was perfect for the two of us. The building itself could use some work and I was worried on our way up. The apartment had been totally remodeled to include a rain shower in the bathroom. Double pane windows helped the noise considerably. Watching the Eiffel tower at night with the light show was an incredible treat. Very nice property and very clean.

Fun place to stay in Paris

Guest: BigMike (Andover, MA USA)
Date of Stay: 10/08/11 Review Submitted: 10/25/11

Photos are completely accurate- the place actually feels bigger. Perfect for a couple. The building is quite (i only saw 1 tenant in 5 nights!) Building seems old, but the apartment is really modern and beautiful. Didier was great to deal with. He really loves this place, and it shows. It's clean, modern, and comfortable. Bed was comfortable. My wife love the hot shower! New windows keep it quite and comfortable. There's about 3 english tv channels, but who's going to Paris to watch tv?! Location is good for traveling around paris. The bus #69 starts 30 steps from the front door! (check out Rick Steves, paris book for Details) It's better than the subway and goes to most of the major touristy sites, and you can use subway tix on it. Also, 2 subway stops within 5/10 min walk Bir Hakem (sp?) and Champ de Mars, which makes getting all over the city much easier. Rue Cler is a nice 10/15 min walk, Eiffel tower twinkles in the kitchen window. Elevator is Tiny, but worked great. You do have to go up about 12 steps to get to it, but way better than the stairs. The bakery downstairs had ok esspresso coffees and good baked treats for breakfast. I would stay there again. Didn't really use the kitchen, but it was modern and nice. Internet worked fantastically. Phone to the US for free, worked and was another bonus. Between the extra room, the kitchen, internet, comfortable/clean bed, stereo, free phone, the views of the tower and monuments, and best of all a REAL QUITE NIGHT sleep-skip the hotel and book this place.

Cozy and Comfortable Paris Studio

Guest: Ira & Shirley (New York)
Date of Stay: 10/03/11 Review Submitted: 10/16/11

Arrived and stayed a stones throw away from the Eifel Tower. Literally out the dining nook the tower was present. The apartment was immaculate, equipped with all the necessities for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Didier, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with, very informative, very helpful and always willing to go the extra step to ensure satisfaction. The pictures were a good depiction of the apartment but we felt the apartment appeared larger in person. Location was outstanding for us. Right downstairs was our bakery, cheese store, wine shop, butcher shop, supermarket and around the corner a beautiful wellness spa. Walk a few blocks in either direction and you can catch the metro, the RER or a bus or two that take you all through Paris. A couple of finds in the neighborhood are a small branch of Poilane Bakery (must try their cookies!) near the metro station on Grenelle Boulevard and a wonderful Restaurant for dinner on Avenue Bosquet called 7e Vin everything is delectable. The staff is great. We would recommend the apartment to couples who want to experience what living in Paris feels like when it is done correctly. We recommend this very highly; a great experience.

My husband and I spent a week in late September using this rental as our hopping-off point for daily excursions in Paris and Ile-de-France. This apartment met our needs perfectly -- stylish, convenient, and well-priced in a wonderful Parisian neighborhood. The apartment is even nicer in person than the lovely photos would suggest -- comfortable, sleek, and welcoming. You really can dine in the apartment with a stellar view of the Eiffel Tower. We had a tremendous stay and thank Didier, the owner, for making this rental experience so easy and pleasant. We look forward to renting this apartment for our next trip to Paris.

We were very glad that we had chosen this apartment. We have had a very enjoyable stay there and experienced a true Parisian style of living, though short. The apartment was exactly like what the photos have shown and in very good condition, equipped with everything we needed. The owner was very kind and detail-minded, and we have encountered no problem at all during our stay. The view from the apartment was absolutely stunning. The apartment was in an accessible location, walkable distance to metro/public transportation. Shops, restaurants and supermarket were all nearby. We would like to thank Didier the owner again, whom has made our Paris trip even more unforgettable, by offering us this nice apartment! Surely we will come again in the very future. We will recommend this apartment to our friends without reservation (in fact we have already done so!).

A True Parisian Pearl - Perfectly Lovely

Guest: Luv2Travel (Ontario, Canada)
Date of Stay: 06/25/11 Review Submitted: 07/04/11

Upon entry you are welcomed into the parsian world, the pictures are perfect representations of the apartment, it is definetly as described. This was our first trip to Paris and we wanted to be close to the Effiel Tower with a view & what a view! For an experience to appreciate the city more from a local point of view this is definetely the way to go. The apartment is very quaint, is kept very clean & the bathroom has a rainshower style shower that is great. There is a stereo that we enjoyed listening to French music on which helped to enhance the Paris experience. The convience of having a kitchen + eating area is very nice. The coffee maker provided makes GREAT coffee, which we enjoyed every morning. Imagine drinking your morning coffee or eating dinner while gazing at the Tower, well we don't have to imagine because this apartment allows you do that, pretty incredible. Just having the view is worth it, plus all the added other bonuses of being in the heart of Paris! Downstairs just steps away are many amenities which helps in keeping costs down from dining out. There's a few markets to pick up groceries, a local Patissiere to pick up bread + pastries (try the croissants & the pain au chocolate, so flaky & delicious, they make great bagette sandwiches too) & a great wine store across the street called Nicolas where the wine merchant is very helpful. Rue de Cler is only a 10-15 minute walk across the park for more markets, cafes; there is a fish store, Chocolatier + Fromagerie (called La Fromagerie de Grenelle-again where they were very helpful with selections) & so much more. One of our favorite things to do at night was take our blanket & walk across to Champs de Mars Park only a 3 minute walk & enjoy a bottle of wine or Champagne & watch the Eiffel Tower light show at night, something we'll never forget. The Metro is minutes away by the Seine; but you need only walk 10 to 15 minutes to be at Invalides, Rodin Musee, Rue de Cler or 20 minutes to the Musee de Orsay and Luxenburg Gardens. During a hot spell while we were there, the air conditioning worked great, it would cool the whole apartment very quickly. Didier was only a phone call away or he would reply to emails promptly with answers to our questions. He was there to greet us and explain everything about the apartment or any other questions; I would recommend his apartment to friends and family. We looked at a lot of properties on VRBO and we are very pleased with this little piece of Paris.

My companion and I had everything we needed for our five-night stay in this clean and ideally located apartment. The view out the windows was marvelous as we watched Parisians live their daily life. The shops on the block provided fresh fruits, breads and pasteries, meats, cheese, plus brasseries plus laundry and grocery. The bed was comfortable and we slept well with no city noise. Amazing. Close to public transportation, Rue Cler, and of course, the Eiffel Tower!

Clean, cozy apartment for two

Guest: Katie (Chicago, IL)
Date of Stay: 06/09/11 Review Submitted: 07/20/11

My husband and I stayed here for five days in June. It fit all our needs perfectly. We made espresso in the morning, ate crossiant for breakfast from the bakery below, and sat in the lawn in front of the Eiffel Tower at night. We went to the markets and made dinner with our finds in the kitchen. It was also a short walk to two great farmers markets, and lots of tourist attractions. All the pictures accurately display the apartment. My only complaint is that the only English television stations are news channels - while it is great to hear the news, it would be nice to have another choice. Overall - this is a great value in a great location for having a local, Parisian experience. Highly recommend.

An Amazing Experience

Guest: MEG (NJ)
Date of Stay: 05/24/11 Review Submitted: 06/09/11

What more could one ask for . . . a very clean apartment in an unbelievable location with terrific amenities! We arrived in Paris three days earlier than anticipated and stayed at a highly rated hotel where we paid considerably more per day than the daily rental of the apartment. Comparing the two accommodations the apartment was vastly better. As has been said the apartment is much more spacious than depicted. The view of the Eiffel tower, especially at night when its lights twinkle, is amazing. Sharing this sight via Skype with our grandchildren was an unexpected treat. The apartment has excellent Internet reception, is within easy walking distance of the hop-on hop-off bus and the C train which we took to Versailles. Didier gave us an excellent orientation, answered all our questions, gave us good restaurant recommendations, and left us with a list of important phone numbers including numbers for his cell and apartment. We enjoyed the hot bread sold by the bakery downstairs as well as the Fromage marche just around the corner. We never got to try the butcher because the outdoor cafes caught our fancy. We would recommend this property. Didier is extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

We just arrived back from our week long stay in Paris at this apartment. We decided to rent an apartment since hotel rooms in Europe are very small and more expensive, a thought that was confirmed when we heard dozens of people complaining this. The pictures are accurate and the bathroom is even bigger in reality. The location is beautiful, very secure, and the tower is much closer than portrayed, you literally cross the street and your standing in front of it. There is a grocery store next to the entrance door and a pasty shop right next to that. We started everyday buying four croissants to get us through afternoon and came home to cook up dinner (saved a lot of $$) Would come back again. This apartment is a steal, some others are double or triple the price in this neighborhood, again highly recommend this apartment!

Date of Stay: 05/05/11 Review Submitted: 05/22/11

The location was great and the view was excellent. As well, the photos accurately reflected the appearance and amenities as advertised. The property was clean and amenities met expectations. It was sometimes noisy with the windows open but there is air conditioning which we didn't use. The windows shut out an amazing amount of the city sounds. We had to leave at 6am and the owner was wonderful. He met us in time for us to leave on time. Thank you for that we really appreciated it. Also the owner left us to ourselves but gave us contact information in case we needed it. We would recommend this property. It is in the heart of the city with easy access to metro and very walkable to sights beyond the Eiffel Tower. The bakery downstairs was very good as were the other stores including the wine store which is close at hand. The owner recommended some restaurants for the birthday celebration we had while we were there. It was excellent. In short, a very good place (we never rank anything as excellent) but this was close.

Great Stay

Guest: Yail (Austin, TX)
Date of Stay: 03/24/11 Review Submitted: 04/07/11

This is a charming apartment located in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods of Paris. This is a case where the pictures are a faithful depiction of what you will find when you arrive, and the view of the Eiffel tower is even more breathtaking in person. Speaking of the tower, you are literally five minutes from it, and we found it a good start to our nightly walks around the neighborhood to pass under the tower and visit the commotion there. The finishes of the apartment are nice, and the the appliances and fixtures are all in good working order. There is a small shop directly below the apartment on the street that sells good food, and we saved many hundreds of Euros by cooking many of our evening meals "at home", and the kitchenette was well-appointed to cook food. The double-glazed windows do an excellent job of keeping down the sound of the busy street outside, and we never had a problem sleeping, especially since Didier had solid wood hinged shutters installed on the inside during the recent remodel. This kept the sun out when we were recovering from jetlag. When we wanted to get some "fresh" air, however, we found it nice that we could open the windows and get a feeling of the street life outside. This view of the street was a vital part of the experience, and it is a million dollar view. I would never consider renting a space without a view of the street, as this is such a vital part of the Paris experience. If you hate tight spaces, you will be spending a lot of time climbing stairs, as the elevator (which works quite well) is very small by American standards. This, however, is a small price to pay in my mind for the view from the top floor. Didier is a pleasure to work with, and is responsive to queries without being intrusive.

Perfect choice for a single person

Date of Stay: 10/30/10 Review Submitted: 12/29/10

I traveled to Paris for my birthday this year (November) and had a wonderful experience. The flat is Clean, Modern and Cozy and I felt very comfortable staying here for the week. It's close to the shops, restaurants, bars and (for a first timer in paris) most importantly the Eiffel Tower. Watching the Tower sparkle at night through the window was an Amazing feeling. Didier was available to answer questions that I had and give me information about different ways to get around. He made sure to show me how to use everything that I might have had a question on too. On the down side, the elevator broke right before I arrived and the flat is on the top floor with many many steps to climb. be prepared to walk up and down these stairs if you go and there's another elevator mishap (which may or may not happen frequently in Paris) my advice is to call a day or two ahead and find out, so at least you're not surprised. All in all, I would love to stay here again when I go back, which from my experience I will definitely do. I'm so glad I used this website and decided on renting a flat instead of getting a typical hotel. For the money and the personal attention, I felt like I spent my money in the right way. This Flat was perfect for me and I hope if you're reading this and decide to stay there, it will be perfect for you as well. Sarah Long Beach, CA

Our stay at the apartment was fantastic! The apartment was exactly as described and the owner is very helpful. Although small, the apartment feels much larger due to the efficient design and abundance of natural light. The location is safe, quiet, and close to transportation, 5 min to RER C, 10 min walk to Motte Picquet Grevelle Metro with 3 lines, and 5 min to taxi stand. Outside your door there is a small grocery, cheese shop & bakery. Walk across the street and you are at the Eiffel Tower! 5 more min and you're at Rue Cler. This small elegant apartment is perfect for a couple. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again the next time we are in Paris.

The apartment was exactly as described and very modern. Fully functional kitchen and nice bathroom. The building has beautiful Paris architecture. So much better than staying in a hotel. The location was fantastic. Very nice upscale neighborhood with dozens of good restaurants within walking distance. Two small grocery stores and a bakery right on the block. The view and proximity to the Eiffel Tower is the highlight of the apartment. The pictures we have from the window of the apartment are stunning. After spending long days sightseeing, it was a pleasure to come back to this apartment, open the windows and admire the view and street scene while we recharged for dinner. I would highly recommend this apartment for a true Parisian experience.

Easy walking to museums, churches, monuments and great restaurants (suggested by the owner). Our bank was across the street. Wonderful views of the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, and Napoleon's Tomb, right from the windows. There was no street noise, so sleeping soundly was easy on the comfortable queen bed. The owner was very attentive, not only welcoming us at our convenience but also being there to say "Au revoir."

Cute Flat Near Eiffel Tower

The flat was very spacious and had an excellent location. We were able to watch the Eiffel Tower light show from the bed every night with a glass of wine. If you are looking for accommodations that can be a home away from home I would recommend this cute little apartment.

Fantastic Flat!

I stayed in this fantastic flat for five days and wished I could live there! Though small, the flat is so utterly charming and well located (hello Eiffel Tower!), that the size of the flat became irrelevant. Kitchen was perfect for whipping up a dinner and the table allowed me to gaze upon the Eiffel Tower's magnificent light show. Perfect. The bed was very comfortable. The view spectacular. Location off the Metro easy walking distance and did I mention, a 3 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower? The owner of the flat was very helpful and ask him to give you a recommendation for local eating establishments....he had some great tips! I highly recommend this flat! R.S. San Francisco, CA

This place was just perfect for my boyfriend and me. It is in such a great location. From one window you can see the Eiffel Tower and from the other is a great view of the city and Napoleon's tomb. Everything in the apartment seemed very new and clean. The owner was very helpful and accommodating. I will stay here again if I have the opportunity to.

This beautifully renovated apartment is perfect for a stay in Paris. Spectacular view of the Tour Eiffel, conveniently located to shopping and the metro. The apartment has everything you need to make your stay comfortable -- a great kitchen should you be tempted to cook, modern bath, great views and comfortable furnishings. Wireless and hi-speed access to the Internet as well as a flat screen TV connect you with the rest of the world when you are not out enjoying the city. The owner is reposnsive and helpful. Highly recommended.
