Choosing the 'Right' Place to Stay
Question: given the wide choice of accommodation in and around St Andrews, why pick 6 Queen's Gardens?
Answer: the 3 Cs
Comfort - warm, welcoming, elegant, homely, luxurious, spacious, relaxing...this is not just our opinion, these are some of our guests' comments
Convenience - located right in the heart of town...seconds away from the shops, bars and restaurants...minutes away from the golf and the beaches...total flexibility to come and go as you please...the whole house to yourselves, sharing with your family and friends not with strangers
Cost - our rates are highly competitive and especially cost effective for groups of 6-8+.
Situated right in the heart of the town, 6 Queen’s Gardens is a wonderful place to spend your time in St Andrews. For golfers we are little more than a couple of minutes drive or a 6-7 minute walk from the iconic setting of the Royal and Ancient clubhouse and the 18th green/1st tee of the Old Course. The beautiful beaches are a similar distance and the university, castle and cathedral ruins and the shops, bars and restaurants are also all almost on the front doorstep.
This large Victorian property was fully renovated and restored recently. It is typically set up to sleep 4-8 people in 4 large double/twin bedrooms, 3 with en-suite bath/shower facilities & the 4th with a shower room immediately outside. There are additional beds available for larger groups or children. On the first floor there is a beautiful, spacious drawing room with wireless internet/printer work station; on the ground floor, a second living area and dining area leading into a fully equipped kitchen and opening into rear courtyard. There is also a 130 ft south facing private garden with patio seating area & golf practice/warm-up net.

We now live most of the year in the Caribbean but get back to St Andrews frequently. It's the perfect contrast to our life here - a lovely historic old market town oozing with character. A unique blend of old style local life & historic culture, a university atmosphere...and of course the golf. St Andrews is a truly magical town. Welcome to Our Home in the Home of Golf.

We stayed here for 3 days in August. We loved it and plan to return next summer. The other reviewers say it best, so read their reviews too. I will recommend this place to all my friends. It is conveniently located in the center of town and is the only street with free parking. The layout was perfect. Bathrooms and kitchens were new. Bedrooms were thoughtful. Watch the video on the website too.

I am told that the owners of this property are golfing enthusiasts who spend 10-12 weeks in residence. Their thoughtful and carfeul restoration of this Victorian row house indicate that it was undertaken first for their personal use, and secondly, as a vacation rental. I, for one, feel fortunate to have benefited from their hard work . Six Queen's Gardens truly feels like a "home away from home." Far superior to a hotel, we wanted for nothing...not even a corkscrew. While Six Queen's Gardens is certainly close to the golf courses, it is definitely the place to be once you leave the golf course. Located in the City Centre, it is convenient to the ancient sites, shopping, as well as the best of the local restaurants, and the most popular local pubs. Our group was an extended family with golfers, non-golfers, married couples, and single young adults. We had no difficulty finding entertainment opportunities to suit one and all. My final and best recommendation is this: We will return to 6 Queen's Gardens...well before my husband's 70th birthday. Kudos and thanks to the owners and the property manager for making our vacation so memorable.

It is not often that a vacation rental is even better "in person" than on its promotional website but, in the case of this home, that is most definitely and delightfully so! Our group of four couples from the U.S. spent about 10 days traveling through Scotland (Inverness, Edinburgh, Isle of Skye, St. Andrews) and our only regret about the trip is that we did not plan to stay longer at this wonderful home in St. Andrews. The elegant yet comfortable townhome was light and airy, quiet, spotlessly clean, updated, and perfectly located within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops, historic attractions, and, of course, THE OLD COURSE! Spacious rooms, very comfortable mattresses, and modern bathrooms would be reason enough to choose this home but the additional features of a fabulous kitchen with everything a cook could need (including provisions for breakfast already stocked!), relaxing gathering spaces, whimsical touches (loved the wine corks in the fireplace grate!), and the lovely patio and garden make this home memorable. The owner was very responsive to our inquiries, and the local caretaker for the home met us promptly at the appointed time and was most helpful in helping us settle in. Discerning travelers who value good taste and convenience will be very happy making this their home away from home while in Scotland, whether you are a golfer or not! Recommended unconditionally!

-Centrally located---can walk anywhere in the town -within 20 minute drive of many outstanding / famous golf courses -our group of 8 golfers had plenty of room in this large, open, well appointed home. -owner was exceptionally easy to deal with---hassle free. -fully met expectations---no surprises---clean and well stocked -comfortable, homey, all the conveniences of home---far superior to hotel living.

Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at Queen’s Gardens. We appreciated having someone there to welcome us and show us around, and from that moment on felt completely at home. We thought the house was beautifully decorated and furnished. We all slept like logs in your very comfortable beds, luxuriated in your bathrooms and were happy cooking in the best equipped kitchen we have ever stayed in. It was very helpful to have the welcome pack, though I also placed a Tesco order which arrived just after we did. My grandson, who is 18 months, was in his element crawling up and slithering down the stairs (terribly good exercise for Granny too!) and loved the garden. For him it was a real adventure to be able to walk on all those different textures and negotiate slight changes in level, and for us it was very restful to be able to let him run around in complete safety once the gate was shut. The location is, of course, perfect. We never had trouble parking, although only my son and his partner really used the car when they played golf. The rest of us were happy to potter around the town, enjoying the excellent selection of shops – including a fishmonger who advised on what kind of fish to buy and how to cook it! – and stopping for home baking. I was anxious that this should be a good weekend, as it was intended to help our son through the trauma of turning 40! And it’s not often that we are able to get my husband and me, son and partner, and my daughter, son-in-law and grandson all together in one house. Queens Gardens was the perfect location for a real celebration in style! And my son and partner very much appreciated being able to stay in the house till 4pm when the car came to take them to Dundee airport.
