The coach house is a 800 sq. ft. suite tucked in behind our main house nestled in the garden, with easy access from the island highway; we are in an area known as "The Diamond" just north of Ladysmith, BC.
"The Diamond" was named because the railway tracks crossed here. The large piece of cast metal in the middle (called a Frog) was shaped like a diamond. Miners used to meet there, to board the mine trains, and it was often referred to as "The Diamond". The name has stuck to this day. Today it is a rural area of small acreages,with only the dayliner using the tracks twice a day with people traveling the island from Victoria to Courtenay and just minutes from historical Ladysmith.
The coach house was finished in 2009, with much attention to detail. With one bedroom with a queen bed plus a den with a single bed and luxurious linens, bath with heated tile floors, open concept kitchen, dinning and living room. The high ceilings and large windows make the suite bright and airy. A covered deck opens from the kitchen; it is a great spot for watching the deer in the neighboring field.

This is a great place to stay. The house is super and the location is great! If you're a gardener, you will be interested in the flowers, etc. that she has. I would recommend this to anyone vacationing on Vancouver Island.

We found the property to be exactly as pictured and the amenities exactly as described. The gardens are dazzling, the house is sparkling clean and perfectly furnished and supplied with every single thing you'll need and even several things you won't need (we didn't use the mix-master, the iron, the washer/dryer. We did use the coffee grinder - and fresh coffee beans, supplied). There are two porches and the seating is arranged so you can take your coffee or adult beverage outside and sit in the sun or the shade, whatever you prefer, any time of day. Our two young granddaughters live in Ladysmith and they came for a sleepover and were enchanted with the house and the owners' two very loving very welcoming dogs. The owners were wonderful with our girls. I would recommend this property to anyone - it's luxurious and quiet and beautiful, it's close to town, close to the highway if you're taking daytrips. If you're looking for something that's not a condo on a beach, choose this place. It's perfect in every way. And Arlene and Doug are the world's nicest people.

My wife and I were looking for a place that would be comfortable and homey while we visited our daughter in Naniamo. Hotels just does not do it for us, however, we found this quaint 2 bedroom not far from many sight seeing venues and restaurants. Arlene, our hostess, provied us with a warm welcome and even baked a loaf of bread and provided us with home made jam. What a lovely touch and welcome. The house "cottage" was very clean, albeit very new and provided us with all the amenities that we needed for our short 3 night stay. We used the locations as our base to do the wonderful things to do around Naniamo, Ladysmith and area. When there, do not miss Coombs...Goats on the Roof. Enjoyed it all. Highly recommended.

The Diamond Coach House was a real gem. Arlene and Doug were awesome hosts and were an excellent source for local information. The unit is new, bright, clean and very comfortable...it felt like a home away from home. Having coffee in the morning on one of the two covered decks and watching the hummingbirds in the beautiful garden, was a unique experience. Ladysmith has the Holland Trail for hikers and you are located minutes from the ocean, ferries to the other islands and several fine golf courses. In town, The Bakery, provides excellent soup and sandwiches. Should you decide to dine in, the Diamond Coach House provides a fully equipped kitchen. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable experience and are very much looking forward to our return next spring.
