The Ehu Kai 'Seaspray' is located in Hale Ko’olau, a family owned & operated group of ocean & beach front vacation rental homes in Honolulu, Hawaii located in the fishing town of Hauula on Oahu's North Shore near the Polynesian Cultural Center, Turtle Bay, Kualoa Ranch, and many other wonderful Oahu attractions. We are located approximately 45 minutes from Honolulu International Airport on the North East coast of Oahu; where the Ko’olau Mountains touch the Pacific Ocean.

The Ehu Kai “Seaspray” studio is directly on the ocean and is completely air conditioned. This is a spacious (500+ sf living area) duplex studio, one bath suite with ceramic tile floors throughout. The Ehu Kai Kitchen & Bath were both completely remodeled early November 2006. The open kitchen has maple cabinetry and granite countertops, a full size stove/range, built-in microwave, full size fridge, and all the cooking utensils you need to prepare complete meals. The kitchen opens to the living area with a convenient breakfast bar/nook. The living area is richly decorated with warm tropical & plantation style furniture and enjoys direct ocean views. There is a queen size futon and teak dining table in the living area, all illuminated by a large sky light. The Ehu Kai has a queen size bed just 20 feet away from the gentle surf. This suite enjoys wonderful tropical breezes year around, however there is a ceiling fan in addition to central air conditioning.
Enjoy relaxing on your direct ocean front deck which has sweeping views of the entire Hauula Bay & Ko'olau Mountains. Your private deck area has an outdoor dining table with seating for four. There is plenty of area for sunbathing on the beach or on the grassy yard. Relax in a beach-side chaise lounge chair or watch spectacular sunrises while soaking in a six man hot tub just steps away. Stroll down the beach to the Hauula beach park and coral preserve for some great snorkeling and swimming or take our ocean kayaks out for some adventure. Close by are world famous North Shore attractions such as the Hauula hiking trails & preserve, Polynesian Cultural Center, Turtle Bay Resort & Golf, Brigham Young University, Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay, Kualoa Ranch and the last unspoiled 'Hawaiian' style towns on Oahu. The umbrella so you stay dry while sitting on the futon, and the boots so you don't slip and slide when you awake to a flooded unit after a seasonal rain. During check-in we were told the CD stereo didn't work and would be replaced the next day, but it was still there a week later when we left. We never did locate our private lanai with table and chairs, and the locked door that separates the units is not much of a sound barrier. The 10 p.m. limitation on the hot tub outside our unit did not apply, at least not while we were there. We were drawn to the location and enjoyed the view, but having stayed there now know that "warmest regards" really means buyer beware. Loved Oahu and the north coast, but will only speed up when passing Hale Ko'olau on our next trip.Owner response: We wanted to take the time to thank this guest for his review and address some of the items he was unhappy with during his stay. The CD player was replaced by me, the general manager, myself after his complaint and apologize for the maintenance person not performing his duty correctly. He has since been replaced. Also, we have also revitalized the entire suite, starting with the new paint job throughout the entire rental, new wooden blinds to block out the sun on that day you want to sleep in, new lamps, and light fixture. Unfortunately, this gentleman did encounter a flood due to a huge rainstorm that passed over the island and we did attend to him. During these acts of nature, we can only do so much to prevent a flood after receiving 10 inches of rain in 24 hours, but he forgot to mention that we did tend to him at night after working hours to ensure he was comfortable and cleaned his unit entirely after the severe rains. We ask guests to call us with any problems, want their stay with us to be enjoyable and full of fun memories. Unfortunately, we were never contacted about the hot tub situation and there are guests who abuse and neglect the rules we have on our property for their own pleasure. I'm glad these guests enjoyed our island, and are very sorry to hear they did not enjoy their stay with us. This is a rarity, as many guests who leave feedback in our Guest book on our direct website site or in the rentals can't wait to return. But we wanted them to know that we value their feedback and because of comments, we decided to act and renew all suites. We thank them for their stay and feedback as it has helped us make our rentals better for the future stays of our guests. Mahalo nui loa!

About the owner: We have owned and operated these properties for two generations. We have operated as Hale Koolau LLC for nearly a decade, however prior to this change of entity we operated the business as sole proprietors, accommodating thousands of guests over the years. We are a member of the Better Business Bureau of Hawaii with an A+ rating, member of the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce, and have an 'excellent' rating on TripAdvisor.

Our family has owned and operated this business for two generations now. Originally our goal was to provide accommodations for people visiting family at BYU-Hawaii who wanted a more family-friendly atmosphere. We then realized the need for quality oceanfront vacation rentals at an affordable rate...this is our mission today, to provide quality, yet affordable, oceanfront vacation rentals on the North Shore of Oahu.

Guests who stay with us get more than just a place to sleep at night, they get their own beach house on the North Shore of Oahu. We have 450 linear feet of oceanfront property giving our guests plenty of room to lounge in the sun while being cooled down by the gentle breezes of the South Pacific Ocean. We also have four hot tubs on the property plus complimentary high-speed internet. We are happy to provide our guests with access to amenities such as snorkel equipment, kayaks, beach & picnic equipment, and more for a nominal service fee.
