After working in London for 3 years I emigrated to California. I received an M.B.A. at U.C. Berkeley. I have been in the rental housing business for 40 years. My first visit to Utah was to play rugby in Park City. I now own 2 vacation rental houses in Sandy and I enjoy renting and arranging vacations for my guests. I meet lots of nice interesting people through this business. I really like it when customers become repeat visitors as it means that we are doing something right.

Tramview Great Choice for a SLC Ski Vacation

My family and friends - 12 of us - recently stayed for 5 nights at Tramview, by Classic Ski Homes of Utah. 25 minutes from the airport and located just a few steps from Little Cottonwood Canyon Rd. this home is in the perfect location for those who want to ski Alta/Snowbird and Solitude/Brighton. Alta and Snowbird are less the 30 minutes door-to-door, Solidtude/Brighton are roughly 30 minutes. It wouldn't take more than an hour to drive to Park City or Deer Valley as well. This is a big house with lots of bedrooms and two large living rooms, plus an excellent hot tub on the deck that can handle 6 comfortably and 8 in a squeeze. The kitchen and dining room handled our group of 12 just fine. Bathrooms were a bit scarce, with only 2 1/2 baths and one is in the master bedroom. One of the best attributes of Classic Ski Homes is they will do your grocery shopping for you before you arrive! We all ate breakfast and dinner each day in the house and packed lunches for the ski areas. CSH staff filled a $600 shopping order and had it all in the house when we got there. This was an amazing plus, particularly since we jam this trip into a tight schedule every year. This one benefit will bring us back to Tramview in future years, among all of the other plusses for this house. The owner is very customer-service oriented and stayed in touch with us throughout the week before and the trip week, making sure everything was right.
Owner response:Thanks for the nice review. This makes it all worth while. We try hard to see what we can do extra and it is nice to be appreciated. Regards, Norman

Great Stay in Sandy, UT

We had a great time in Sandy. This property was exactly what we were looking for. Plenty of room, close to the mountains, and at a great price. If you are looking for 5 star accommodations, look somewhere else, and pay twice as much. However, if you are looking for a nice, safe, clean place to stay while enjoying your time on the slopes or in the mountains, you have found the right place. The owner will go out of his way to make sure everything is set up well for you when you arrive. He helped us with lift tickets, and even offered to have groceries waiting at the house when we arrives so that we could maximize our vacation time. We did not take him up on the offer due to the close proximity of grocery shopping and our late arrival, but I think this really shows an owner willing to do what it takes to get repeat business. If we end up back in the SLC area, this will be the first place we look for. As far as size, I feel this house would be extremely comfortable for 8 people (4 couples), and very doable with 12 to 15 if you really wanted to pack people in for a low cost ski trip. We have zero complaints, and would definitely rent again.
Owner response:As we only have 2 ski rental properties we try to make ours stand out. I think we have lower prices than any of our competitors and we recently spent time making them more attractive. They are not new properties but we always get good reviews. We are not perfect. We learn from our guests and react to any negative feedback we receive.

Snowyslope Vacation Ski Home

Snowyslope in Sandy, Utah provided the perfect accommodations for our vacation party of 4 adults and 4 children, and offered great value for the rental fee. We were very pleased with the space provided, cleanliness of the well maintained home, convenient access to the 4 local ski resorts, and the abundance of local dining and shopping. Classic Ski Homes was terrific to work with and made the planning of our trip easy. They pre-arranged for all of our lift tickets, advised us properly on signing our children up in ski camps, equipped the home with groceries we requested prior to our arrival, and even added a decorated Christmas Tree in the main living room - nice touch! I would certainly return to Snowyslope in the future and I recommend it to our friends and family. Thanks Norman for your sincere care to ensure that all our needs were well met! Regards, Warren Potenberg Tampa, FL
Owner response:We have recently upgraded the decor of the house and it is nice to get such positive feed back. The guests we get make it all worth while when they appreciate our efforts.

A group of seven adults rented the house for a week in January. There was more than enough room and the oversized garage was had ample space for an suv and a minivan. The kitchen had all the amenities and we cooked breakfast and several dinners with ease. Norman was very helpful and great to work with. The house is really close to the big and little cottonwood canyons. It has great freeway access and nearby grocery stores. We will definitely be renting from Norman again!

The home was plenty large enough for our party of 9. Three more people would fill all the beds. Norman was very helpful, supplying us with super passes, etc. The house was clean and well maintained, we had one small problem with the gas grill and I told Norman about it when we got home, I'm sure he took care of it. The hot tub was great after skiing and worked well. I would stay here again and would reccomend it to any one. We skied all 4 resorts in the 2 valleys as well as snow basin. 20 t0 30 minute drive to the valleys 1 1/2 hrs. to snow basin.

We rented the Stanley house for a week. The house was clean and there was more than enough room for seven people. The house had a big screen tv, computer, wireless internet, and a DVD/VCR. The garage was large and fit two full size vehicles with room to spare. The owner was always available if we had questions and they even brought jumper cables when one of the car batteries died. We have always enjoyed staying here and this is a first class operation.

We stayed at this residence for a week...2 adults and 2 kids ages 7 and 6.It suited us perfectly. Excellent location, 30 minutes from the airport, close to restaurants, supermarkets shops and Alta/Snowbird. The house was clean and comfortable. One of the lovely things about this home was not having to purchase huge amounts of food that one would use only a little of. There were condiments (ketchup, mustard, dressing, jelly) in the fridge and dry goods like tea, coffee, aluminum foil etc in the pantry. We ate out most nights and one of our favorite restaurants was The Market St. Grill. One suggestion may be to have a file or a book where guests can write where they have eaten a good meal or had a good take out. It can be overwhelming trying to figure out where to eat after a day of skiing. All in all a lovely house, would recommend it to a friend and would return if we come back to Salt Lake City
Owner response:I had the good fortune to rent to this Michael's brother Chris earlier in the year at my other house. Chris provided the recommendation to Michael. Both families were very appreciative of our efforts. The light went on this summer. I had previously had a few items at the houses and I thought it would be a good idea to greatly expand the breadth and number of items to what people would have at home. It has worked well. We have been getting a good response from guests and are having a good season.

When searching for a rental for our ski trip, we just needed the basics at a decent location. This house fit the bill perfectly. You will not be stepping into a modern, beautifully interior decorated house. The home is basically furnished with the essentials, is clean and very affordable. There are plenty of beds so it worked well for the 8 of us. The renter, Norman Jack, is very responsive, informative and helpful and made sure our stay was good...he has been on the ball from day 1. Had looked at other properties on VRBO and Homeaway and it is amazing how unhelpful/lazy some renters are. The renter we originally contacted was managing about 3-4 nice homes in Snowbird/alta with about the same bed capacity of this home and he just could not be bothered...homes still listed...hopefully he's been replaced. We were pleased to have rented the home we did.

We stayed at the Tramview house in Feb of 2010 and were very comfortable there. We had an easy drive up Little Cottonwood Canyon to ski at Alta. The drive took around 20 minutes. It was nice to be close to shopping and restaurants. We particularly liked the Mexican Food at Cafe Rio. Yum!
Owner response:It is always nice when somene appreciates staying in our house and takes the time to send a review. This review highlights the convenient location of the house.

We had a very nice stay in this property last Christmas holiday. It is close to Little Cottonwood Canyon as well as grocery stores and restaurants. The decor was dated but the unit was clean and well-equipped, and the beds were comfortable. The property manager was very responsive to some minor requests-- for example, the unit needed more glassware. This is an excellent house for families with children or single skiers as there are plenty of single beds. It was also nice to be able to pull our cars into the garage. It would be nice if the owner were to add a larger TV to the unit. Overall, it was a great value and perfect for our needs.
Owner response:We like the feed back we get from our renters. We will put a larger T.V. in the house and will look to upgrade the decor. We should have done this before. The first time people book with us we are lucky. Our aim is to get you to come again. When you come back it is special for us. We had many repeat customers for the past ski season inspite of the economy. Thank you all for booking with us. If you have not stayed with us we would like to encourage you to come and see if we can establish a relationship where you come back again. That is our measure of success.
