Totally Charming Vermont Experience
Totally Charming Vermont Experience
I couldn't disagree with the last tenant more. My stay was fantastic and I found the full time grounds keeper to be friendly and helpful. His dogs and mine got along well. The house is charming and welcoming and clean. The rooms were spacious and my family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this home and our Vermont visit.

A Cautionary Tale
A Cautionary Tale
I rented this house for 3 months in the summer of 2013 and was extremely disappointed. The house was filthy, poorly maintained, neglected and misrepresented. The Jacuzzi is broken, the tennis court surface is covered with rocks and weeds, the entire house reeks of mold, mildew and must and there is a mouse infestation. The oven/stove does not work properly, several pieces of furniture were completely broken, the linen closet smells from all the old musty linens, and the water pressure is terrible. The washer/dryer are down in a filthy basement covered in cobwebs. If you have any allergies or asthma you cannot be in the house from all the mold, mildew and must. The kitchen is poorly stocked with a bad selection of ancient and mismatching pots, pans and utensils. The master bathroom is so small I could not stand up straight - it is about 4ft x 5ft at most and has a low ceiling. All of the cabinets and drawers in the house were full of broken, dirty personal items that had not been removed by the owner (I removed them). The bare minimum is done to keep the house in working order, but the goal is not to present a high quality rental property. No amount of cleaning will remove the mold and mildew problem - I tried and left the windows and doors open all summer and it did not help. It is a serious problem. There is a couple that lives above the garage right next to the house and they have 2 dogs. One of the dogs is very aggressive and neither are well controlled. The aggressive dog jumped off the 2nd floor balcony twice to attack my dog. The couple are very much around and you are basically sharing the property with them. They have lots of guests coming and going, they leave their outside lights on 24 hours a day, they share the same water tank so every time they use their water you have no water pressure, they often leave their boat, motorcycle, lawnmower and ATV sitting in the yard so it looks like a tenement, but that may not be an issue for some people. Just know that you will NOT have privacy if that is what you are looking for. They also keep ducks on the small pond so if you have a dog it will not be allowed near the pond. These are all things I wish I had known beforehand. They may not be an issue for other renters, but at least one can make an informed decision. I would not recommend it.
