Capitol Hill Oasis: A Unique Place to Stay
The arrangement and interior design of the Oasis is heavily influenced by the principles of Feng Shui and this application lends to the already inviting air created by the architectural elements of this property.
Upon entry into the functional foyer (set down your luggage, hang your jacket and slip out of your shoes!), you’ll be delighted by the easy flow of space that connects the dining and family rooms with the gourmet kitchen.
In the dining room, the custom-built, low-set table is situated in front of a picture window and is surrounded by an array of cushy chairs. Ten to twelve people can dine comfortably here and the feast that you create in the gourmet kitchen can be elegantly offered atop this table. If you visit Seattle during the chillier months, the wood-burning fireplace will provide warmth while you graze your plates. When done you can drink your wine while lounging on the day bed which is also a full sized bed for someone to sleep on at night. (there are curtains to provide privacy in the room)
This cook’s kitchen is well-equipped with a Viking gas stove, Advantium oven/microwave, Miele dishwasher and a separate ice maker. Other kitchen essentials such as a blender, drip coffee maker, pots & pans, dinnerware & utensils and limited spices are available for you to use. Like crepes? Use the crepe maker and serve them sweet or savory! We do not provide paper towels or napkins however, the nearest convenience store is only half a block away across the street from Starbucks Flagship Store where they test the future of all things Starbucks.
There are two bathrooms in the Oasis, one upstairs and one on the main level. Both are outfitted with shower stalls only though upstairs you’ll find a supersized stall with nine, well-pressurized shower-heads! Bath linens are provided. For soaking there is a all wooden cedar hot tub in the backyard that is fun to soak in.
Upstairs, three rooms (with all bed linens provided) and a loft space are available when it’s time to relax and have some downtime.
When you reach the top of the staircase, you’ll find space with brightly lit window seating and a desk in case you want to get a little work done on your laptop. Also, it’s from here that you’ll control the house-wide sound system. There is also a sofa bed here that will sleep 2 people.
Master Bedroom - houses a king-size platform bed and will accommodate two guests.
The Second Bedroom- Accommodatea two guests and boasts a queen-size platform bed. It will be easy to find peace and quiet in this room. The room is brightly lit by the corner windows and there is plenty of space in which to lounge or Enjoy the city views.
The media room- Has a huge comfy and fuzzy bean bag...The largest you've ever seen, It has a high end state-of-the-art projection system to watch DVD's, cable or you can plug your iPod into the surround sound system. There is also a queen-sized bed for two guests.
The loft area has a queen-sized sofa bed that will accommodate two guests.
Downstairs, there is a full-sized day bed available in the room with fireplace for two sleepy guests!
During your stay at the Oasis, you can maintain your electronic connections via the desktop computer with broadband internet access that’s situated in the upstairs office space or by connecting to the house network through your wireless-ready laptop (password provided at home).

Urban Oasis- Chef's Kitchen, Hot Tub, Media Room with Parking
Year Purchased: 2004
Why the Owner Chose Capitol Hill
I've enjoyed living in my Capitol Hill Oasis since 2004 and wish to share its comfortable environment and desirable location with those planning to visit Seattle for business or pleasure. Capitol Hill is Seattle’s second most densely populated neighborhood, one of its most diverse and boasts a lively sidewalk culture (one mustn't walk very far without encountering one of our many coffee houses) and energetic nightlife (from fringe theater to live music)! And there's no shortage of bars and restaurants to serve cravings of any nature within walking distance of the Oasis.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The Oasis is a spacious, Craftsman-style house situated in the heart of Seattle's lively Capitol Hill neighborhood! This property offers 2300 square feet of living space that spans two floors with accommodations for up to seven people. My residence, with its peek-a-boo view of Lake Union and the flagship REI store, is unusual in that it’s one of the closest single family housing units to Seattle’s downtown core. Its called the Oasis because its the only house left on the block surrounded by high rise condos and apartments . The Oasis offers a large fenced-in backyard that provides a safe place for children and dogs to play, a gas barbecue grill ready to be fired up at your will and an all-cedar hot tub in which you can relax after a full day of sightseeing. The huge front porch is equipped with a comfy sofa and offers an ideal place for reading and lounging outdoors, even on a rainy day.
More bars and restaurants than you could ever hit in your visit. Its the heart and soul of Seattle culture.
Sir - mix - alot wrote his song "posse on broadway" about this street. Filled with great resturants and shops
Starbucks Flagship store. They sometimes try cool new things before they launch world wide.
Bars, Restaurants, boat moor age, and of course an international airport on the lake. That can wisk you away to islands and spots in the pacific northwest for cheap.
REI's flagship store. with the worlds largest indoor rock climbing wall. Take your bike for a spin on the "the grounds" or simple test our your gear on the fake hiking trails.
The activity center of downtown, shopping, restaurants, and fun stuff
Owner's Map of Capitol Hill
I own multiple businesses and travel a lot. I sit on the board of a few non-profit organizations. I enjoy travel, rock climbing and generally live life to its fullest! I enjoy opening my home to friends and family for celebrations of all sorts!

Truly an oasis

Amazingly quiet and peaceful refuge amid a bustling, vibrant city neighborhood. Spotless, beautifully and eclectically decorated home worth visiting just for the cedar hot tub--perfect for us on a cool, clear winter evening. Have you ever soaked in a cedar hot tub? SO much different from the chemically plastic variety and a huge treat for me. Comfortable beds with nice sheets, comforters, and cozy living area. Gourmet kitchen. Truly hard to decide to leave this interesting and easy-to-settle-into retreat to explore the city--fortunately for me, I live in Seattle and can explore at my leisure--owner had great recommendations! Will definitely make this a repeat experience: was an amazing setting for getting away with friends while staying close to home. Thanks for providing the extremely comfortable and beautiful backdrop for a memorable retreat.
Owner response:glad you enjoyed your self.. always happy to host !

This house was definitely a little quirky, but overall we had a great time. We had three guys + one couple, which worked out fine, with one person sleeping out on the futon in the loft. If we wanted to push the space limit, we could have had one more person sleeping in the living room. Definitely some things in the house are skewed way over to the form side of the form/function continuum (e.g. the ridiculously pampered up bathroom upstairs, the enormous cool-looking but very low to the floor table in the dining room), but mostly that just makes it fun, everything is perfectly usable. One thing that was really nice was the huge quantity of towels/sheets/blankets/bathrobes that were made available. There seems to be a virtually full-time manager for the house, so emails were all answered quite quickly, etc. Something you might want to keep in mind if you're planning on cooking a lot (we did) is that while there's a great stove and plenty of pots/pans, there's no real oven, only a microwave/convection combo. We were in Seattle for an event at the convention center, which was about a 10-15 minute walk. There is a nice grocery stores within a 5-10 minute walk as well, and of course coffee shops/restaurants just down the street. Overall would definitely recommend -- was great for a young group of friends, but would work just as well for a family (or two).
Owner response:Victor Glad you Enjoyed the House :-) as an FYI we have plans for a larger oven later this year. We hope to see you back again sometime soon :-)

Thanks so much for making our Seattle trip an awesome one. We enjoyed our vacation. The house is really beautiful. There were enough space for everyone. We never had a problem going form one place to another. The location of the house, I would say is highly recommended if you are looking for something that is close downtown but don't want to feel the busy city ambiance. As my mom described it, its like being in the city but you're not actually there. As early as now, we are planning our next trip in Seattle and would definitely stay back at the Oasis.

Really loved and enjoyed our stay at the Oasis. The house was definitely awesome and we were stunned by its amazing interior. The house has a very welcoming ambiance. We feel home away from home. The best part of the house is that it has a feel of being comforted and pampered. The house is more than its worth. We are planning to stay there again on our next visit probably summer next year as we would love to soak in their all-cedar hot tub.

We attended my cousin's wedding who lives in Seattle. There were 8 of us who went there to witness the ceremony. We were supposed to stay in a hotel but a friend recommended that we stay in a vacation home instead as it is more cost efficient. And he was definitely right. The house is amazingly beautiful. We love the yard,so spacious and cozy. There were rooms for everyone and we were able to cook in their kitchen, which is really gorgeous. On our 3rd day, we had a brunch with few family members and friends. We highly recommend this place especially if you want something that is very close downtown yet, you would still feel a quiet and peaceful environment. We never had problem with transportation as the place is very accessible. Overall, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place especially if you are travelling in a group. We love to stay there again, as we feel so pampered with their beautiful home. Thank you for accommodating us and making our trip a joyful experience.

Thanks for making our stay here in Seattle amazing. We got married and needed a place for us and the family to gather, spend some time and catch up. You made my new wife happy which in turn makes me very happy. My parents had a great time and my mom was in heaven cooking for us on the amazing stove. The shower was just flat out kind of decadent as was the all cedar hot tub. It made the cool northwest nights warm and cozy. We got a car which we barely needed as everything was in walking distance to downtown and capital hill. We will be back for sure!

I stayed here for two weeks in June and absolutely hated to leave! Unlike some advertisements for vacation homes, this one was not exaggerated. Clean and comfortable. I could not find one thing to complain about. It turned out to be much cheaper than expected, saving us tons of money that we used for a little ‘retail therapy’. I will definitely return to Seattle and hope to stay here again. This was one vacation I will never forget!

There is no other word to describe this vacation home but Perfect. It provides a completely luxurious experience while having a laid-back feel at the same time. Vacationers can relax, see the sights, and enjoy various outdoor activities. I have always been fond of water sports and this vacation home provides easy access to some of my favorites like jet skiing, water tubing, and fishing. My kids had a lot of fun as well. Aside from its convenient location, the home itself has all the features/equipment you need for a weekend getaway. Our family liked the outdoor grill and barbecue. It means that we can enjoy the warm weather while grilling our favorite meals. Our stay at this Seattle vacation house will definitely be remembered. We intend to come back next month if time permits.

'We had an absolutely great time. It was the first time we had ever rented a home like this, but with three kids now it seemed like the best choice. We would definitely stay here again. The kitchen was definitely everything it was cracked up to be and we had fun entertaining our friends in the area. Needless to say trying to drag my wife out of the incredible shower was not an easy task. Can't blame her though, it feels like a 5 star spa treatment. There was plenty to do close by, but it was really nice to have lots of room for the kids at the house when they got tired of being out. We will definitely be coming back!'
