"Wonderful Niagara Falls Experience" My Fiance (sorry had to mention it, got engaged while staying at the hoblett!) and I as well as another couple stayed at the Hoblet for 2 nights while visiting Niagara Falls. Petra could not have been more helpful and hospitable. The hoblet is approximatey a 15 minute drive to the Falls, and as others have mentioned before, it is just wonderful to come back after a long day/night and be able to spend time with friends & family, cooking, listening to music, playing games or sitting by the fire. Note that there is 1 bedroom with a bunkbed, we alternated btw. the bedroom & the blowup air mattress which was not a problem at all. Also note that Petra & Mush live on the property, just behind the hoblett, but once again, no issue here, the best neighbors? one could have! We did not do the "meet & greet" with the animals, but they are on the property so we did get some great pictures. We were traveling up to Toronto following our visit to Niagara and once again, Petra could not have been more helpful offering information and tips. I would definitely recommend the hoblet for anyone visiting Niagara Falls!

"Relaxing, quiet getaway in the woods w/animals and near Falls" Wow - what an enjoyable time we had at the Hoblet for 5 nights with our 2 kids. It was a pleasure each night to come back from sightseeing to a quiet, serene place to relax and play games with the family, and rest up for the next day. We loved riding bikes in the morning and evening on the rural and flat roads (we're from a hilly place!), listening to and temporarily catching the many frogs in the pond (Powder caught one on a more permanent basis), hanging out with and petting the dogs (Katie, Powder and Mutsy), meeting and greeting the donkeys with Mush, and watching the other animals (horse, mules). We used the barbecue for burgers one night, and enjoyed s'mores by the fire in the Circle of Elements another evening. The hoblet was beautifully decorated and had a rustic, peaceful feel to it, surrounded by nature -- which was a welcome change from staying in a typical (noisy, crowded) hotel room near the tourist area. It was nice to have some basic food items already there when we arrived (muffins were awesome). Petra and Mush were wonderful, helpful hosts. We appreciated the tips for what to see/do while there, and for sharing their personal internet hub with us so we could look online for tour info. and let our college son get his daily online fix (ok - we used it a little too...). Our favorite places to go (besides the Falls): The Wet Jet Boat ride, Maid of the Mist, the Mandarin buffet, Timmy Hortons (great sandwiches and iced coffee!), Sherkston Shores and Niagara-on-the-Lake. Thanks again Petra and Mush for everything (especially for keeping us "cool" during a rare Canadian heat spell). We hope to return some day! Will refer to family and friends looking for a peaceful, enjoyable getaway near one of the world's amazing sights.

"Tranquil Nature Hideway" Hoblet was a great nature retreat with modern conveniences. My children loved sitting around a fire at night making smores at the end of each travel day. Even though we had a lot of enjoyable experiences they were most excited to get back to the animals and wooded setting.

"Great Week Thanks To Great Hosts!" My partner and I stayed at "The Hoblet" June 13-18 and absolutely loved our stay. Our hosts were so friendly and accommodating - even giving us their internet hub for the week as we needed internet for work. So generous! The pantry was stocked with milk, juice, yogurt, farm-fresh eggs, muffins, cheese, butter, etc. it was such a thoughtful treat. Both Petra and Mush were beaming with kindness and went out of their way to make our stay incredible - and very relaxing. We felt right at home. The Hoblet is very well appointed, extremely comfortable and spotless! It is very private and a great getaway that I highly recommend. We loved the "circle of elements" fire pit, waterfall, and the lovely view into the woods that surround the property. There are windows and sky-lights galore which, with the high-ceilings, make the space bright and cheery. We highly recommend it and will be back!

"Nice little cottage in the woods away from the tourist crowd" A nice place to stay away from the main tourist crowd. A 10mins drive to the main Niagara Falls. Cosy, homely, quiet, and all well provided. Host was very friendly and helpful. A place to stay if you want to be away from the city to enjoy the sereness of the woods and yet near enough to the main tourist Niagara falls attractions. Wish we had more time to enjoy the cottage stay.

"oasis of peace!" We spended 3 days at the Hoblet with our two daughter (9 and 10 years). We liked the falls, but the best time we had was at the Hoblet, enjoing barbeque, nature, silence, peace... Petra and Mush were so nice and friendly and the animals there were the joy of our daughters. Thanks to Petra and Mush!

"The Hoblet rocks!" My husband, 12 year old son & I stayed with Petra, Mush & the donkeys for 4 nights & loved every minute of it-all of us. Petra greeted our late arrival (close to 10 p.m.) with a big smile and a roaring fire in the outdoor fire circle. We met 2 of the donkeys, who were curious about us(and met the others next morning). Originally conceived as a yoga retreat, the cabin is beautifully laid out, warm, and welcoming, with lovely touches (including a bouquet of absolutely beautiful fresh tulips on the table!) The refrigerator was stocked with 1/2 dozen farm fresh organic eggs, butter, cheese, orange juice and yogurts--and to my husband's delight, real half and half for his coffee (also provided). The beds have lovely European linens (Petra's mom is German and advised on European hospitality). There is only one bedroom, with a bunk with full-size bed under a twin, so we all slept in the same room (except one night when my 12 year old de-camped to the living room to escape dad's snoring-the sofa's comfy and gives a modicum of separation between kids and adults, if that matters to you). Petra and her husband Mush provided us with bicycles, helped my son meet and feed the donkeys they've rescued, and let us play with the dogs once we made it clear we were dog people (they were fully prepared to keep the dogs separate if we required it, but three dogs is just right for us!)The fire circle was prepared every evening. But we had plenty of privacy. The Hoblet was all ours, separate from the main house and far enough from the animals that if we hadn't wanted to, we didn't have to deal with them (but we wanted to). Caveats for some (not for us): t.v. reception's not great (Petra said; we never tried, too much else to do!), wireless reception for internet was spotty (closer to tourist areas 15 mins away, reception's fine), & there are bugs (it's in a wood, for pete's sake!) It's just delightful. We'll be back!

"A retreat like no other!" My wife, one-year-old daughter, and I were recently in search of a perfect weekend getaway. We found everything we could have hoped for at Nature's Energy Centre. First of all, the location couldn't be beat. Nestled in a quiet forest in rural Ontario a mere 15 minutes from the Falls, the guesthouse was bounded on one side by a babbling brook and hardwood forest and on the other by a moving animal sanctuary that is home to rescued horses, mules, and donkeys. The private yoga studio, which doubled as our guest apartment, featured a full-service kitchenette, a private bath with infrared sauna, and an electric fireplace. Five sets of sliding glass doors overlooked the surrounding woods while a series of mirrored skylights allowed for abundant natural light by day and hours of stargazing by night. We couldn't have been more comfortable. Even our typically restless baby girl slept the entire night--a rare but welcome treat! From the studio, a wooden path led to the property's signature "circle of elements"--a spherical firepit of rock, water, and wood. We found the "circle" an excellent place to de-stress and unwind. Beyond the "circle of elements" was a working organic garden and greenhouse. Ambitious guests can spend time gardening; a list of daily tasks is provided upon request. We opted to explore the property's ponds, streams, and waterfalls, and to take it easy instead. Regarding activities, our gracious hosts were well connected to the local tourist industry and able to secure discounts to many local attractions. They are also able to arrange private art classes, yoga sessions, and massages--all of which are given in the secluded comfort of this home-away-from home. In short, we can't say enough about this place and can hardly wait to return. Like their website says, if you're looking for a unique getaway in an intimate country setting with an emphasis on personal attention and good energy, then Nature's Energy Centre is for you!

"Amazing and Wholistic Experience!" The service that we received at the Hoblet was "second to none." In a nutshell, it was more than excellent. In every way possible way the owners bent over backwords to make our stay a very enjoyable experience! We loved the Hoblet and the owners! It is a beautiful cottage in a serene and peaceful place that allows you to enjoy the scenic nature of the woods. The cottage has so many "nice-touches" to the place. Everything from the "circle of elements" that has the bonfire pit, to being fully furnished with pots and pans and basic cooking needs, to a semi-stocked fridge and pantry that provides for delicious breakfast and snack foods, a relaxing realistic electric fireplace, and best of all--an actual sauna! Next, the Hoblet is an excellent choice to support eco-tourism, i.e. to be environmentally concientious while on vacation. The Hoblet comes with an awesome "green/living" roof, an organic garden that you can help with, and an animal rescue mission on site that has rescued a variety of equestrian animals. Lastly, the Hoblet is an excellent choice for "finding ones-self." One of the owners is a Yoga instructor, and utilizes the Hoblet for her classes. So, along with the beautiful scenery and excellent hospitality, you also get to utilize any of the Yoga class supplements, such as the relaxing nature music, beautiful artistic decorations and plants, incense, and even a yoga video! So, if you are on vacation to see the falls, or just need a getaway, I would totally recommend staying at the relaxing and beautiful Hoblet.

My fiance and I really enjoyed the hoblet and its peaceful surroundings. The donkey sanctuary is very fun and sitting in the sauna was most pleasant. The service is excellent and the location is central to all the activities the Niagara region has to offer. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend "the hoblet".
