Aloha & thank you for your interest in our oceanfront vacation rental, the Hale Mauka “The House Above” beachfront home. The Hale Mauka is located in Hale Koolau, a family owned & operated group of ocean & beach front vacation rental homes in Honolulu, Hawaii located in the fishing town of Hauula on Oahu's North Shore near the Polynesian Cultural Center, Turtle Bay, Kualoa Ranch, and many other wonderful Oahu attractions. We are located approximately 45 minutes from Honolulu International Airport on the North East coast of Oahu; where the Ko’olau Mountains touch the Pacific Ocean.

The Hale Mauka is a direct beachfront on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii and offers commanding views from one end of Hauula bay to the other with the beautiful Koolau Mountains beyond. This is a spacious (1,500+ sf living area) two bedroom, two bath second floor duplex home with porcelain tile floors in the living area and wall to wall carpet in the bedrooms.
The Hale Mauka features a complete, large and open, modern kitchen with a breakfast bar, sealed top stove/range, microwave, full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, and all the cooking utensils you need to prepare complete meals. The living area is light and airy with tropical-style furniture and enjoys breathtaking ocean views. There are two three-person couches for your comfort in addition to an adjacent dining area with seating for up to six. The master suite is furnished with tropical furniture and a king-size, pillow-top bed. The master bath features decorative ceramic tile work and has amazing ocean and mountain views to enjoy while showering. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed and tropical furniture for an airy island feel. Both bedrooms have tropical ceiling fans although they are rarely needed as this home enjoys cool tropical breezes year around.
Enjoy relaxing on your private oceanfront lanai with seating for four which opens up to the blue South Pacific Ocean only 20 feet away. There is plenty of area for sunbathing on the beach or on the grassy yard. Watch spectacular sunrises while soaking in one of our nearby hot tubs. Stroll down the beach to the Hauula beach park and coral preserve for some great snorkeling and swimming or take our ocean kayaks out for some adventure. Close by are world famous North Shore attractions such as the Hauula hiking trails & preserve, Polynesian Cultural Center, Turtle Bay Resort & Golf, Brigham Young University, Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay, Kualoa Ranch and the last unspoiled "Hawaiian" style towns on Oahu. Why the Owner Chose Hauula
Our family has owned and operated this business for two generations now. Originally our goal was to provide accommodations for people visiting family at BYU-Hawaii who wanted a more family-friendly atmosphere. We then realized the need for quality oceanfront vacation rentals at an affordable rate...this is our mission today, to provide quality, yet affordable, oceanfront vacation rentals on the North Shore of Oahu.
The Unique Benefits at this Duplex Home
Guests who stay with us get more than just a place to sleep at night, they get their own beach house on the North Shore of Oahu. We have 450 linear feet of oceanfront property giving our guests plenty of room to lounge in the sun while being cooled down by the gentle breezes of the South Pacific Ocean. We also have four hot tubs on the property plus kayaks, boogie boards, snorkeling gear and complimentary high-speed internet. Each of our units come with full kitchens and 11 of them have air-conditioning. We are located four minutes from the Polynesian Cultural Center and Brigham Young University Hawaii. We are also located 20 minutes north of Kualoa Ranch and 15 minutes from Sunset Beach and the famous North Shore surfing beaches.
Within walking distance to Hale Ko’olau with a large grocery store and several restaurants, including the very popular Papa Ole’s Kitchen.
This is one of our favorite beach parks on O’ahu. Enjoy excellent sandy bottom swimming on this stunning and uncrowded beach.
This beach is also one of our favorites on the island and is famous for boogie boarding and body surfing…but watch out…they call it “Pounders” for a reason.

We have operated as Hale Koolau LLC for nearly a decade, however prior to this change of entity we operated the business as sole proprietors, accommodating thousands of guests over the years. We are a member of the Better Business Bureau of Hawaii with an A+ rating, member of the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce, and have an "excellent" rating on TripAdvisor.
