Kitchen was better than fully equipped! Beds - cozy. Bathrooms - huge! Just for fun, we found out all ten of us could stand comfortably in the upstairs bathroom. Coffee by the gas stove watching the sunrise light up the San Francisco peaks - ahhhhhh. Accommodating and gracious host family - Indeed! Will plan another visit there - absolutely!

Six couples had the most amazing weekend at Cairn Hill. It's exactly as gorgeous, secluded and well-maintained as the listing suggests. The owner, Janece, was wonderful and responsive. It was a perfect rental experience. I'm convinced you won't find a nicer property in Flagstaff. Our friends' guestbook entries say it all: "This was one of the greatest weekends of my life. What a wonderful home! Seven of us women spent five memorable nights at Cairn House recently as part of our annual "girls' retreat." Old college and childhood pals, most were from other parts of the country and the location of the house was perfect for our daily expeditions to Sedona, Prescott, The Grand Canyon (via the train) and Sunset Crater. We were comfy in the spacious bedrooms, spotless kitchen and bathrooms, and loved lounging in the living room in the evening with a good movie on the wide screen TV. We especially enjoyed watching the sunrise in the mornings around the little stove in the living room with a cheery fire warming us. The views were fantastic! All the amenities - from the TV to the access to wireless to the well-stocked kitchen and great library with books, games and many guides and pamphlets about local attractions - made this a truly memorable vacation for all of us. July 9-16, 2011 Thank you so much for opening up your vacation home to our family. The house is so beautiful and comfortable, a very homey feel to it. We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor setting with the spectacular views of the mountains. Sitting around the fires at night listening to the wind blowing through the pine trees was extremely relaxing. July 5, 2011 Cairn Hill was the perfect spot to celebrate the marriage of our daughter and her husband. We held the rehearsal dinner, wedding and reception here - all outside. In addition, family and friends dropped by throughout the week we were here. All loved the scenery, birds, quiet, aroma of the pine forest and the space to move around and chat in small groups. At nighttime we enjoyed the stars and hot tub. Thank you Janece and Tom for making your beautiful home available to us. The bride and groom had exactly the wedding they dreamed of.

Dear Janece and Tom, Simply the best Christmas of our lives! Everything was absolutely perfect! We couldn’t decide what feature was the favorite - oldest 6 grandkids say the bunkhouse, the youngest and oldest say the sledding hill, the skiers say the hot tub, the parents say enough areas for everyone. All of us loved the homey feel of your home! The views, location, etc. etc. etc. Thank you so much for the beautiful family memories we will cherish forever!

I had a wonderful weekend with a group of about a dozen people in this mountain home (Dec 3-5). When we first arrived I walked through the place and kept exclaiming, "Wow, check this out!" and "This room is huge, have you seen the great room yet??" The Christmas tree was beautiful, especially with the green glass pieces in the window behind it. I can definitely see why people have held their weddings here, the property must be especially lovely in the summer. The hot tub in the cold winter night was a real treat, as was watching a non-local college football game in HD once we figured out how to work the giant TV and seemingly infinite cable options. The next time I'm going to Flagstaff with a larger group (8-15) I'll definitely look into staying here.

Entering this home is not like entering a typical vacation rental, where no matter how much you bring with you - it never seems to feel homey. This home wrapped us with a hug as soon as we opened the door. It feels like a lot of thought went into every piece of furniture, artwork, every decoration....even live plants! This is a vacation HOME with so many sweet touches that really added to our experience. And CLEAN! We've been renting vacation homes for 5 years and for the first time I didn't feel like I had to clean something before using it. Now, that's a vacation! It was an absolute pleasure to come to this home after our hikes and relax. We plan on returning to enjoy some of that sledding! Thank you for a wonderful experience.

We go to Flagstaff every August to escape the heat of the Valley and to run the Big Brother's Big Sister's Half Marathon. This was our 1st time staying at Cairn Hill and it will now be an annual family tradition. Everyone had such a wonderful time. We celebrated a birthday while we were there and the birthday girl said that she had such a special weekend with the family in such a beautiful place. The home seems secluded but is close to town. The stars at night on the patio are nothing short of amazing. Although it seemed like we had a big group everyone had their own space and were very comfortable. We can't wait to come up with a reason to return to Cairn Hill for another family trip. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home.

August 1-8, 2010 Janece - We found the perfect spot for a restful, fun and joyful vacation place for our family to gather in the summer. The dogs couldn't believe their noses when we first arrived and bounded in glee, free to move about - not like in the city. It was good to get familiar with Flagstaff again as a '73 grad and to show my family the Lowell, campus, but mostly just the beautiful climate, forest and your house. We even enjoyed the rain, thunder and lightening as a welcome change to Phoenix. We hope to return again. We will see what the new year brings in blessings and opportunities to vacation again!!! Our entire family, from age 2.5 to 68, thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at Cairn Hill. It is beautifully located, spaciously laid out, very well equipped and owned by wonderful people. Their love for this home really shows, to the benefit of those who stay there. Everyone found lots to do, inside and out, and we enjoyed visiting the magnificent attractions of northern Arizona. July 6 We enjoyed your house - the setting, the spacious rooms, the patio, the grounds - lots of room to play and to eat and to visit. Granny enjoyed the squirrels and the birds and kept them well fed. The younger ones enjoyed space for volleyball games, while the older ones played horseshoes and still others worked puzzles or just watched everyone else. The bookshelves were also enjoyed - It seemed everyone found time for some good reading as well. The kids enjoyed the horses nearby and a “stray” dog. Your location was perfect for nearby exploring, hiking, day trips, shopping, etc. Hot tub and wi-fi were a bonus. The owners, Janece and Tom are easy to work, quick to respond and helped to make our vacation comfortable. In all, a wonderful Cairn / gathering place. Dear Janece, Thanks so much for having a lovely house that we could rent out and all enjoy. The house is wonderful and loved how it is decorated. We loved sitting outside on the incredible large porch at night just talking and enjoying the quietness. I greatly appreciated all the brochures and information you had on all things to do in Flagstaff and the surrounding areas. We enjoyed the Grand Canyon, Sedona and much more. We really appreciated the generous supply of towels you provided us.(most houses only have a small amount and it seems I am doing laundry my whole vacation) Once again, thank you very much for all the extra's. The reason we chose Cairn Hill is because my daughter wished to get married withiut a lot of fuss on the rim of the Grand Canyon with just the family and a few close friends present.I couldent have made a better choice the wedding went perfect,the weather was wonderfull and after the ceremony we returned to Cairn Hill for a barbecue on the patio which proved ideal a great end to a memorable day.Our biggest regret is that we didn't arrange our vacation to enable us to staymore than the 3 short days we have had. The house and facilities are wonderful and Arizona is so varied.We have promised ourselves that one day we will return for a lot langer. Thank you. Staying at Cairn hill lodge was a growing experience for my family. We spent time sledding on the hill and then warmed up by the fire. The kids even made Smores for the first time! We will be returning next year to enjoy the snow :) I recommend it to anyone who is escaping from the city for some country winter fun!
