  My family had a wonderful time at Island Royale. The house is decorated so nicely, no detail is overlooked. The beds are very comforable and all the spaces are large and inviting. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need in order to make any meal you can think of. The open concept of the kitchen and living area allows whoever is working in the kitchen to be involved with family activities as well. The pool is wonderful! I think we spent most of our time in it. It is larger than most private pools and has a salt filtering system which is much easier on skin and hair. It is also very private. You don't have another house on top of you so people can see down into the pool area. We also took advantage of the theatre room to catch up on some movies on the one rainy day we had. Both kids and adults loved this feature. We will definately be staying in this wonderful home again! Can't wait!

  Owner response: Leah – the pool is special, but it’s not actually a “saltwater” system. My pool vendor ( who we think is the best on Hatteras Island) uses the lowest acceptable amounts of chlorine, and balances it out with salt substitutes to keep the water much softer, and much more pleasant than the average chlorinated pool. They also treat the hot tub water the same way . . . we've received many compliments about the pool size, the water quality, chaise lounges/floats, and privacy . . so glad you enjoyed that !!

  My family which exsisted of myself, my husband, my two kids, my sister-in-law, brother-in-law their 3 boys and two of my sons very good friends from Maine all spent a wonderful week at Island Royale in Avon NC. We decided on going after my daughter spent a week in Avon with friends there last year. The house she stayed in was across the street from this one and was just off the beach. They had the ability to just walk to the beach and back for lunch and such but the house was not up to the scale of this one so I decided to go with higher quality beds and housing since once you are in Avon everything is so close that not being on the beach in this quiet little village is really no issue. The best thing is that this house is part of an Ocean side pool club so it only took us minutes to ride over to the club, park to the pool and drop our things on the beach and have the ability to go back and forth between the refreshing pool and bathhouse, grab a soda and head back to our beachfront chairs.....absolutely the best! Once we were back at the house we were all in the pool, some nights the hottub and every morning we enjoyed coffee and breakfast on the shaded top deck since the sun came up on the front of the house. We sat in the beautiful morning breeze and watched as birds...a striking cardinal who visited us almost every morning, flew around us as we sat amongst the tree tops and marveled at the view. When it got hot in the late afternoon, we found the comfortable furniture on the middle deck to be a great spot to pick up a cross breeze from oceanside to channel side as my sister-in-law and I enjoyed reading and relaxing. The only draw back was getting the kids out of the basement. They loved the movie room and pool table and played so many games at the poker table I had all I could do to get them to leave the house. There is a nice side lawn that many of the homes do not have that allowed my kids to play wiffle ball and bocce for us so that was great. My daughter pointed out that she and her friends had to pull a lot of prickers out of there feet from the house they stayed in for a lot of the houses do not have nice lawns and have this native weed that is filled with there nasty prickers, no prickers on this lawn and the maint people are always running around making you feel very secure and watched over should you need help. Extremely safe and quiet local. We were busy but did use the gym several times...fabulous.

  We had a wonderful time here. Island Royale had everything we needed. Ten people (a couple kids) in the house, movie nights,pool tournaments in the game room. A very nice house with plenty of things to do. We spent alot of time in the swimming pool (after a small problem was resolved). Also everyone associated with maintainance & services did an excellent job- two thumbs up for Shawn & Shana !.We all loved the property & had a great vacation. We played football in the yard, and also walked the foot paths & trails in the area. All of the stores are close(walk or bike distance) and everyone was nice. As far as referring it to others, not so sure. I may need to keep this house in my own private stash! Thanks again, John

  WOW! This place is amazing. Beuatifully decorated and furnished. From the moment we got there to the moment we left, we had a great time. Everything was perfect. We didn't need anything accept groceries and our clothes. This place has everything and more. It had everything you could want to make your stay comfortable, the beds especially! Plenty of pots & pans, enough dishes and utensils to serve a small army :-). I've rented before and we usually needed to go out and buy little things like measuring cups or sppons, etc., but they thought of everything. We had 6 couples and still had plenty of room. The theatre room got a good use, along with the pool and game room. Never a dull moment. We noticed a few things when we got there, reported them and they were immediately taken care of! You won't be dissappointed! We'll be back next year.

  Outstanding property, bueatifully decorated with everything needed for the entire family. The theatre room was a great place to finish a busy day with a good movie. The swimming pool is very large for a home. Everything works exactly as is should.
