The cabin was everything the description promised it would be. It was comfortable, roomy, well-decorated, and situated in a beautiful, tranquil setting. It's just a few minutes from La Grange, but truly feels like a getaway. We especially enjoyed the outdoor pavilion and relaxing on the front porch. Our family of two adults and two children had plenty of room. The beds were all very comfortable - a must for an enjoyable vacation. We made great use of the well-appointed kitchen, with only one trip into town for lunch. (We would recommend Bistro 108 - very attentive service, good quality food, and generous portions.)Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners.

My college daughter and two of my lifelong friends found "Homeward Bound" to be a great place to relax after a day of antiquing. I was just sorry that we got there too late to really take in all of the outside beauty but we awoke to find ourselves in what could be a little Appalachian hide-away in Texas. I appreciate that you worked with me on just a one night stay. It was a little hard to find coming in at night. It even fooled our GPS, but was well worth it when we finally stumbled upon it. I would definetely stay again but longer and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys going back in time!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

Three moms and six kids made for a great end of the summer get-a-way. It was such a peaceful and relaxing time. Our kids ranged in ages from 9 to 14 and they all loved that they got to explore outdoors, walk in the brook, roast hot dogs and make smores at the camp fire while telling spooky ghost stories, go swimming at the lake and enjoy some down time playing board games. The moms enjoyed catching up with each other, reading that book that we can never seem to get to, lounging in the hammock, and catching some deer drinking from the pond. We also got to check out some of the adorable local shops. The cabin was very cozy and there was plenty of room for all of us. Some of the kids even pitched a tent outside. We've been to this cabin a few times as a family or bringing along friends and it is always amazing! Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin in the woods with us. We will be back!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

What an adorable "story book" cabin! It was so unique and the property looks like a movie set for a rustic country getaway! The outdoor patio/grill area is perfect for a party, BBQ, or just grilling and hanging out. The babbling brook and pond made the setting perfect. This 2-story cabin has the perfect mix of being relatively new, but having the feel of a rustic antique. Being only about 2 minutes outside of town from the nearest HEB, it is in the country with all the luxuries of town close at hand. This was a perfect location for our relaxing, get-away-from-it-all weekend. Will DEFINITELY make it a regular visit!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This little place IS cozy and comfy, my family and I were there a last weekend and we had a great, relaxing time. Only left to go to fishing and to the store. The cabin was fully stocked and comfortable to live in. The pond and water fall were great additions to a lovely outdoor experience. Because the weather was cool we had no issues with bugs or mosquito's, the open outdoor space also was great for kids to play and explore the outdoors. Will use again and can't wait to go back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

What an amazing time! This cabin makes you feel like you step back in time. It's magical. My husband and I truly needed a getaway weekend and this place was way beyond our hopes for the weekend. So close to both, La Grange and Round Top, we didn't get to do half of what we wanted to. We'll be back!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6

My group of close friends, whom I call my sisters, get together once a month. We decided it would be fun to do a murder mystery weekend so we began to look for 'THE perfect place' and found Homeward Bound. It WAS PERFECT! We had the most amazing weekend together to enjoy the beautiful crisp air, the peaceful surroundings, and the wonderful time away together. We also had so much FUN! There is something special about this place. It has such a wonderful energy. And for being in the middle of no where :) there was so much to do! We had time around the camp fire, enjoyed sitting by the pond and laying in the hammock. Inside we stayed up all night talking and laughing in front of the fire place. It was a magical time. One that we plan on doing annually. In addition to our sister gathering many of us plan to return with our families and other friends to have a home away from home. Thank you for offering this little corner of the world to us. We were touched.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

About the owner: I am a singer/songwriter who moved to Houston from Los Angeles about 2 years ago to work with a producer based out of Houston. I am also a youth and young adult pastor in Houston and when I saw this property I knew it would be the perfect place for weekend retreats. After living in Houston for 2 years and deciding to stay a while, I decided to search for a get-a-way place in the Hill Country where I could escape the busy-ness of life and have a retreat for the soul. I also learned about Festival Hill and immediately became excited about all of the artists, poets and musicians featured on a yearly basis. I knew having a place nearby would be a big plus! I searched high and low, and when I saw this property, I just knew! The cabin is a get-a-way where you feel like you escape into a peaceful private National Park of your very own. It's called "Homeward Bound" because one of the only other places I'd rather be is where I'm one day headed, heaven itself! I want to share it with you!
Why the Owner Chose Round Top:
This cabin sits between La Grange, TX and Round Top, TX.
La Grange is nestled along the Colorado river and central to area towns Round Top, Warrenton, Fayetteville, Smithville and Schulenburg.
Round Top is the home of "Festival Hill", a musical institute with live events featuring artists, poets and musicians from around the world.
The area is popular for antiques, music, history and a great outdoors surrounded by oak, pecan and pine trees. You can expect a relaxed way of life.
From boutique shopping the beautiful town square, exploring German and Czech heritage, to enjoying a canoe/kayak trip down the Colorado or biking one of the scenic country bike routes, La Grange and Round Top are both truly a unique experience.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Peace. Rest. Joy. Reflection. This cabin is a perfect retreat for any single person or family! There is as much to do as you want, or as little to do as you want.
