Our condo is a 4th floor penthouse suite in the secure Primavera II project. (Truthfully, all of Cotacachi is secure. It’s a very safe and welcoming small town where everyone knows everyone.) Total indoor living space is about 775 square feet with about 300 square feet of open-air terrace.
The condo itself is one big open room, with kitchen, living room and sleeping area equipped with a queen-size bed. Curtains can be pulled to close the sleeping area off from the rest of the living space. The kitchen is fully equipped (although we don’t have a microwave as we don’t seem to need one here. We eat out a lot and never buy pre-prepared reheatable food – it’s just not done here.)
There is a fireplace in the living room with gas-powered ceramic logs—no fuss, no muss. We also have an enclosed sunroom with another fireplace. (We’re still waiting on the ceramic logs for this one.) There is a foldout couch here that can comfortably sleep one adult or child. This is the perfect place to relax and unwind – it’s like an eagles’ nest with gorgeous views of Volcan Imbabura.
The ample bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub, shower and washer/dryer. On the terrace is a gas BBQ grill for your use.
Note: we're on the top, 4th floor and this building does not have an elevator. Climbing the stairs keeps you healthy! We don't have a television, we prefer to read or listen to music. But we have spectacular views!! (And great fun-loving neighbors.) We have a thumb-drive modem for Internet access.

Why the Owner Chose Cotacachi
We've been visiting Cotacachi since 2002, an we fell in love with it almost immediately... the small-town atmosphere, the magnificent setting, the clean air, the lack of stress, the friendliness of the people all appealed to us. When we got the opportunity to own a place in this magic little town, we couldn't pass it up. We actually feel healthier, mentally and physically, the more time we spend here.
The Unique Benefits at this Condominium
Our condo is located in the Primavera II project in the heart of Cotacachi. You’re only blocks from everything you might need and want: restaurants, grocery shops, parks, churches, the farmer’s market and charming ‘Leather Street’ where you can shop for any and all items handmade from gorgeous Ecuadorian leather. The farmer’s market, also known as the mercado, is open 7 days a week but Sunday is the major market day when indigenous farmers come from miles around with fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, cheese, meat, flowers and more. In the mercado you can also buy delicious homemade meals in a tidy ‘food court.’ Most will be more than you can eat and set you back about $2.50, including beverage. This is also where you can catch the bus 20 minutes to Otavalo (25 cents), the largest open-air indigenous market in South America, famous for textiles and more, and a truly wonderful experience. Or take the bus to Ibarra (40 cents, 40 minutes) to the Mega Supermarket and mall, if you’re looking for a U.S.-style shopping experience. Nearby San Antonio de Ibarra is where you’ll find Ecuador’s famous woodcarvers, who craft anything from small candlesticks to large pieces of furniture and life-sized replicas of Catholic saints. There are many artisan villages near Cotacachi that you’ll enjoy visiting—from Peguche where traditional Andean instruments are made to Illuman, home to many shamans and spiritual healers. Or just take a hike into the mountains near Cotacachi…the views are gorgeous and the people in the little communities are very friendly. Lake Cuicocha, a beautiful crater lake in a verdant forest setting is just a few miles away.
