Our condo is a 4th floor penthouse suite in the secure Primavera II project. (Truly, all of Cotacachi is secure. It's a safe and welcoming small town where everyone knows everyone.) Total indoor living space is about 775 square feet with about 300 square feet of open-air terrace.
The condo itself is one big open room, with kitchen, living room and sleeping area equipped with a queen-size bed. Curtains can be pulled to close the sleeping area off from the rest of the living space. The kitchen is fully equipped (although we don’t have a microwave). We buy fresh produce in the market and have few leftovers.
There is a fireplace in the living room with gas-powered ceramic logs—no fuss, no muss. We also have an enclosed sunroom with another fireplace. There is a foldout couch here that can comfortably sleep one adult or child. This is the perfect place to relax and unwind – it’s like an eagles’ nest with gorgeous views of Volcan Imbabura.
The ample bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub, shower and washer/dryer. On the terrace is a gas BBQ grill for your use.
Note: we're on the top, 4th floor and this building does not have an elevator. Climbing the stairs keeps you healthy! We don't have a television, but have a flat-panel screen and DVD player with movies for your enjoyment. And we have spectacular views!! (And great fun-loving neighbors.) If you bring your laptop, we also have WIFI internet access.

Why the Owner Chose Cotacachi
Cotacachi is healthy and peaceful and the setting in the Andes mountains is beautiful. This is a very clean and welcoming town (the people couldn't be nicer) and the cost of living here is amazingly low.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
This is stylish, carefree living. While we love the outdoors, apartment living means we have no year to tend. But the gardens in this complex are GORGEOUS, and the view of them and nearby Mt. Imbabura from our terrace is breathtaking. We're in the heart of the village yet overlooking pasture and creekland...perfectly located but private.

We're Suzan Haskins and Dan Prescher. We're originally from Omaha, NE, but left there in 2001 for life as vagabond travel writers and editors for International Living magazine. In that time we've lived in Ecuador (Quito), Mexico (Lake Chapala, San Miguel del Allende, and Merida), Panama (P City), Nicaragua (San Juan del Sur). Now we've returned to Ecuador...this time to the small town of Cotacachi.
