Lovely family home in great area of New Hampshire
Lovely family home in great area of New Hampshire
We just returned from a long weekend at this lovely home. It is at the end of a dead end street, private without being isolated and close to all that the Sunapee area has to offer. The house is all one needs--two bedrooms on the main level, one with a queen and one with a double bed plus an open loft with three twin beds. Well equipped kitchen and comfy living room furniture. Dining is at the counter but there is a table with 4 chairs in the semi-finished basement that would likely be best for the kids and dining furniture on the deck. TV without cable, excellent cell reception so no house phone needed. This is clearly a family home and not just a rental property. The owners have personal property there but in no way does it impact the comfort of guests. We really felt like we were using our friends' home while they were away. This does mean that you shouldn't expect a detailed manual at the house with menus of surrounding restaurants and booklets on all the area has to offer. The area is small so do a bit of research before you go and you will be all set. We brought our two dogs with us and were pleasantly surprised at how pet-friendly the area is! Wherever we went, the pets were well-received and there are lots of places to take them hiking and swimming off leash. They had a blast! The Sunapee area is filled with great things to do for a weekend or longer--the lake is huge and clean, there are farmers markets, local fairs, gardens, hiking and free concerts all within a 15-20 minute drive around the lake. The Fells--a preserved "summer estate" with lovely gardens and hiking along the lake--is very close to the house and worth a visit.

About the owner: We are a military family and bought the home as a central place to gather as we travel throughout the country.
Why the Owner Chose Newbury:
We have been around the world, and the Lake Sunapee area is a favorite of ours. We take advantage of all the seasons, snow skiing, sk,ating, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, swimming, sailing, fishing, and boating. Often, a nap in the hammock under the birch trees, with a cool breeze, and a good book is all the excitement we are looking for. It`s our piece of paradise, and we would be honored to share it with you.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The Lake Sunapee Region boasts festivals, band concerts, fall foliage, apple and blueberry picking, farmers markets, antiquing, dinner cruises on Lake Sunapee, and every so often we are able to "spy" Steven Tyler from Aerosmith. Mr. Tyler has lived on Lake Sunapee for years, and is thought of as one of the locals.
