Do you need a large, elegant 3 or 4 bedroom /3 bathroom home for your Borrego Springs vacation? Consider reserving the private main residence of our newly renovated estate on 3+ acres of Colorado desert landscape, for the cost of an ordinary-sized property! Our ~4000 sq.ft. resort-like hacienda sleeps 3-10 guests, with plenty of room for everyone to stretch out. Note: When you reserve the main residence alone, the casita remains vacant and is never rented to another party. (For larger groups with up to 12 guests, the ~500 sq. ft. 2 bedroom /2 bathroom casita may also be reserved; see VRBO listing #265545).
Our main residence has extensive vaulted ceilings, 3 bedrooms with king beds (optional 4th bedroom with king bed) and 3 full bathrooms. It has a fully equipped kitchen with large center island and counter wet bar, adjoining den with an audio/video entertainment system, a formal dining room seating 8-12 guests, a grand living room with a fireplace, audio/video entertainment system and billiard area, and a large laundry room. The vast ~1,100 sq. ft. garage accommodates 4 vehicles!
You enter under a deep veranda to begin your dream vacation. This home is a grand hacienda with a Spanish tile roof, peach stucco walls, wrought iron sconces, soaring beamed ceilings, an enormous cantera stone fireplace in the living room and tile floors throughout. The home is decorated with quality furnishings, offering a range of styles that will please any taste. Artwork includes dramatic human images by Mexican cubist Diego Rivera, southwestern metal sculpture by Christopher Crooks, and original works of Latin-American folk art.
The home offers a relaxing and comfortable vacation and has many quality amenities, including broadband Wi-Fi internet, two big screen LCD HDTV's, two surround sound systems with Blu-ray DVD/CD players and iPod docks, a desert "B movie" DVD library, eclectic music CD library, wine captain, 8-foot pool table, board games and reference book library focused on local culture and nature.
Step outside to the 12-foot deep shaded veranda running the length of the hacienda. Look out to a sun washed, walled and private courtyard bordered by citrus trees, palm trees and colorful desert plants. The courtyard centerpiece is the sparkling pool and heated spa. You’ll enjoy amazing 360 degree views of the San Ysidro, Santa Rosa and Vallecito Mountain ranges that frame the Borrego Valley.
Consider a unique getaway! Close your eyes. Dream of a perfect desert vacation. On calm mornings you'll enjoy vivid sunrises over Fonts Point and the cooing of mourning doves. On brilliant afternoons you'll glimpse darting roadrunners as you toss horseshoes in the shade of mature mesquite trees. In the evening you can grill dinner on the north patio while taking in a glorious sunset over Indian Head Mountain. On crystal clear nights you can toast skewered marshmallows over mesquite coals in the large fire pit and soothe your body and soul in the swirling spa under a dark celestial sky. Finally, drift off to sleep while listening to the muffled hooting of an owl and communal cries of distant coyotes.
Dream on. Total indulgence; just laughing, swimming, or walking in a field of desert wildflowers; and talking with family and friends. Dream of floating in your grand pool on summer nights under brilliant stars (you really must bring your binoculars or spotting scope). Dream of hiking through a nearby Palm Canyon to an oasis of native California fan palms and sparkling waterfalls! Dream of actually seeing native Big Horn Sheep high above on steep mountain peaks along the way!
Hacienda La Verbena is the most grand and comfortable home available in Borrego, yet it is available for the price of an ordinary-sized property. It's the perfect residence for a private family gathering, or getaway spot for friends. Follow the desert rainbow to your Borrego Springs dream vacation at Hacienda La Verbena! There is nothing comparable in all of Borrego Valley.

Hacienda La Verbena. Main Residence of a Private Estate.
The Unique Benefits at this Estate
Our home's soft interior elegance welcomes you. The courtyard's south-facing orientation to sunlight and moonlight provides an incomparable connection to every minute of the desert's brilliant days and starry nights. You're surrounded by a serene desert ambiance that must be experienced to be understood. It works so well in part because Borrego Springs has few people, no congestion, hustle and bustle, or traffic lights. The quiet solitude of the surrounding unspoiled Colorado desert wilderness is a balm for the urban craziness that is escaped in coming here. It's a place to unplug. We are confident that you and your guests will also be touched by this magical place.
Our home is just a 4 minute drive (1.7 miles) from the center of town with a supermarket, shops and restaurants. Borrego Springs is a peaceful rural community with very light traffic and no traffic lights.
Borrego Springs is completely surrounded by Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, the largest state park in the U.S. (>650,000 acres)! Natural history tours are a MUST DO at the Visitor Center, just 1 mile south at 200 Palm Canyon Dr.
The Palm Canyon trail head is just 1.2 mile west of our home. It's a fantastic 1.5 mile walk/hike on a sand- and boulder-filled, mostly dry creek bed to waterfalls in a native California Fan Palm grove. Watch for Big Horn sheep along the way!

Cyclying Team Training Camp

You couldn't design a house, town or terrain more perfect for cycling training in the winter. There are empty, pancake flat roads around town, and beautiful, epic climbs (also on mostly empty roads) within 2 miles of the house. We did 500 miles in 8 days with about 30k feet of climbing. The house was an excellent place to relax and recover (around the pool, in the hot tub, on the huge couches, in the large kitchen) while not riding, and the large garage was perfect and convenient for storing all of our bikes. The owner also helped out with some excellent ride recommendations. Overall it was a great experience and we hope to be back.

I have been renting facilities for the past eight years for small corporate retreats. This is as good as it gets. The owners pay meticulous attention to every detail-- every detail! Whatever our needs-- extra beds, recommendations for hikes, weather details, or accommodating our time schedule-- they have provided outstanding service. And when it comes to comfort, luxury, and cleanliness, this home gets highest marks. I just finished my fourth retreat at this home, and am already looking forward to returning again. The fact that it is in a spectacular desert setting makes it the complete deal.

Our family of 5 just got back from a week in Borrego Springs, Ca. The home we rented was fabulous. We were pleased with the location and the amenities. The beds were great and the house was comfortably (and elegantly) furnished. The acoustics were great for guitar playing and the house was big enough for me to set up my piano keyboard as well. The gourmet kitchen gave us all the tools to cook great meals and we even made homemade ice cream for the first time. It was a great location for day trips to Fonts Point, Salton Sea, Palm Springs and biking around the Anza Borrego Park. Bring your bicycles! There's plenty of secure storage space in the garage and Borrego is the perfect place for biking and hiking. For dining I would highly recommend Assiaggo at the airport, or The Arches. It was a vacation we will all fondly remember.

This is a beautiful property in a beautiful setting. Our week there was delightful. The pool is a perfect size, and the summer sun kept the water temperature perfect. The house is inviting and easy to be in. Two large screen TV's, a great kitchen, and beautifully furnished bedrooms with lots of space were a pleasure. The listing described the property perfectly. The property and house are maintained in excellent condition. The owner was most helpful in answering questions as well as the local caretaker who was very responsive. This is a great property and we hope to return soon.

This spacious, beautiful, clean home is a wonderful, restful vacation place. The sparkling pool and spa are enclosed within a private courtyard with amazing desert landscape. Sitting under the Mesquite tree, shaded by its blossoms, we were lulled to sleep by the humming of the bees. You too may be entertained by a majestic sunset and two lizard hunting Roadrunners on your evening walk. Visit Hacienda La Verbena when all you want is to be surrounded by luxury, peace, and quiet. We recommend it to all ages.

Our family stayed during spring break for 3 nights. It was a beautiful! The gracious home was well-appointed for everything we needed! We barbecued every night and enjoyed the sunset changing the colors of the mountain. The house itself was immaculate and there was something to do for every one of our age groups. Our kids had fun with the pool and hot tub and we all had fun exploring the local shops and art galleries-every person we encountered was friendly and helpful. The art galleries and shops have a lot of fun and affordable gifts and collectibles. We also did a day trip to Ocotillo Wells to ride our dirt bikes (only 20 min. away)! The only problem with the house is that the photos don't do it justice! It is even more gorgeous inside and out. We plan on returning and I would highly recommend a stay here to anyone!

This is a fabulous house. It is exactly as described, including photos. The house is immaculate and the owner was very helpful in every way. I recommend this property with no reservations. My only advice is make sure you know where you are going. This is not Palm Springs. If you want a quieter setting and enjoy nature this is for you.

My family of 14ppl was very comfortble in this gorgeous house in the desert. We only wish it wasn't as far away as it is. Took us about 3hrs to get there since we took it slow thru the curving mountain. The house is EXACTLY like the pictures, and VERY clean/maintained upon ur arrival. Owner was great to answering my questions prior to arrival. One of my in-laws was already planning a trip here for next yr. : )
Owner response:We recommend flying into San Diego International Airport, because the beautiful mountain drive to Borrego Springs is approx. 1 hour 45 minutes, compared with the longer drive from Los Angeles International Airport.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, families with teenagers.
