Quiet, Secluded, Spacious Home 10 Minutes to Ski Area
Year Purchased: 2011
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Ski Ranches
We visited Telluride several years back and fell in love with this beautiful area. We thought we had purchased it mainly for skiing but after visiting in the summer realized we had so much more. The beautiful mountains, water-falls, and cool temperatures are quite up lifting coming from the hot humid climate in Houston.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Quiet, secluded, yet very close to all the charm and fun of Telluride, Mountain Village, and outdoor activities.
Free parking for gondola to Telluride ski area. Market and liquor store. Less than 10 minutes from property.

We call Houston, Texas our home. We have two sons and the four of us love to ski, hike, bike, and even white water raft. We love the outdoors!

The owner of this home used to run an Inn in Telluride -- he knows what he is doing! And he's a great guy! Beautiful home, terrific location, a wonderful and relaxing experience. We will definitely go back. I am thankful to know of opportunities like this where we can stay at a nice home at a fair price. We are very grateful for the experience.
Owner response:Hey David & Jen, Thanks for staying with me. Taking the gondola from Telluride with your bikes sure saves a ton of up hill peddle ! Thanks, Bill

My family and I had a four night stay at this property just this last weekend. The photos don't do the property justice. It really is a gorgeous home! One of the photos shows an office, however, that room has since been turned in to another bedroom, so there are actually four bedrooms in total. Our family had six adults, one two year old and a six month old. The set up really worked out well for us as the master bedroom has a large walk in closet that actually worked well to put the port-a-crib in for the six month old. The owner (Bill) is wondeful to work with and was always very quick to respond to questions that we had. I wasn't familiar at all with Telluride, so I wasn't sure what to expect with the home's location. I was under the impression that it might be a bit further out. The home is actually much more close to town than I thought it would be. Telluride is made up of the actual town and then the mountain village. Mountain village is about a ten minute drive up the hill from town but there is also a free gondola that connects the two areas (with gorgeous views on the ride). This home is in a neighborhood that is actually just one stop up the road from the turn off for mountain village, so it is very close to all the action. My family and I live in Denver and had never been to southwestern Colorado. I would say that hands down Telluride is the most beautiful mountain community I have seen anywhere, so it is WELL worth the visit. As for activities, we had drinks one night at the top of the gondola at a restaurant called Allreds, I highly recommend it... the view is OUTSTANDING! My boyfriend and I are avid mountain bikers and had quite the ball on all of the downhill runs on the mountain (and downhill riding at Telluride mountain is free!) as well as some of the other trails around town. One day we rode bikes along the flat trail that runs by the river through town. That was a lot of fun! They have a little pond at the end of downtown (with a park nearby) that is just for kids 12 and under to fish in. Very cute! All in all, this home is gorgeous, very well kept, beds are comfortable, the kitchen is a joy to cook in and the location is excellent. I would recommend a visit to Telluride to anyone and if in Telluride, this home is a great choice for your stay! Sara
Owner response:Hi Sara, Thanks for the great review. I try to understate the property so folks feel they have received more than they expected ! My dog, Sakari, is wondering what happened to your sister's two year old - she was always good for a pet and a hug ! Bill

We have rented via vrbo on two continents several times. This is our best one yet. Bill, thanks so much for being a fabulous host. Your house is beautiful and comfortable, and you have made every effort to help us whenever we needed anything, including excellent recommendations for hikes.
Owner response:Thanks Mike, You guys took some very nice hikes. Xinyuan must have set a record for the number of wildflower photographs she took! Bill

The home was everything we expected and more! It was exceptionally clean and well maintained with a modern and well-stocked kitchen. The patio deck is the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee while listening to the birds and fluttering aspens inder the crystal blue sky or to have your dinner "al fresco". The laundry room was a huge plus as we were able to store the bicycles, rafts, and extra suitcases with room to spare! The fireplace was perfect for taking the chil out of the morning air (even though we were there in July). There is a fantastic trail right outside the door which leads through the woods to the ski run and by the time you return home, the run is about three miles total-perfect for this altitude!! Of course, many of the trails are much longer, if you prefer. You will never run out of new places to run or hike and will continue to be awe-inspired by the views. It is about a six- minute drive to the Mountain Village core where you can park and hop onto the free gondola into Telluride. The Cosmopolitan restaurant is right at the base of the gondola in Telluride and is not to be missed! Also not to be missed is the happy-hour at Allreds at the top of the gondola. You can eat and drink like a king in the bar and not feel the pinch in your wallet!!! Bill was a most gracious host and immediately helpful with every question we had and when my son pushed ALL the buttons on the TV remote, and we couldn't get the TV to work, he came in and had it working within minutes. BTW, the TV has ALL the channels we were looking for-even "VERSUS" so we could watch the Tour De France!!! I would definitely recommend this property. It is not in the Mountain Village or direct town of Telluride, but for the peace and tranquility you get in return, the trade-off is definitely worth it!
Owner response:Thanks Jennifer, I am here when people need me, although you give me to much credit for fixing the TV implosion. I did call support ! I understand guests wish privacy so am out of sight, out of mind when my guests do not need assistance. BTW the Angus hot dogs you left in the fridge were great !! Thanks, Bill

This is house is both great for couples and a family. Four of us (two couples) stayed over memorial day weekend. The house has 3 levels; three rooms and 2 full bathrooms on first level and a master suite on the third level. (so 4 bedrooms total). Gives great privacy and the master has awesome views from the bed. You can take a 1/2 mile walk to mountain village neigborhood. Great locatoin to get into back country as well, we did a lot of four wheeling during the day and cooked on the grill each night. Great patio. We have already planned our return trip. You will not be dissapointed with anything about your stay here. Bill lives on the property; however, we never saw him unless we needed something.
Owner response:Thanks for the great review Whit. You guys certainly seemed to be having a fine time. I do have an apartment on the property. It allows me to be able to personally greet my guests and insure they know the details of the home. No lock box and wandering around in a strange home looking for the kitchen! No calling some answering machine in LA if there is a problem. As a 22 year Telluride local I can be very helpful. It is my intention that my guests have a great time and if I can give them some local knowledge that is great. Bottom line if people wish to speak with me I am here. If not they will never see me. Happy guests are my objective ! Bill

We enjoyed our stay at this house. The owner was very helpful in answering our questions about the area and the house. It was in a very pretty location with a fabulous view. The house was very comfortable and well stocked. It easily housed all 6 of us for our ski vacation with ample room. We rented a car and this was a very convient location to town and the ski slope. It was a great week!
