Come to the mountains and enjoy a relaxing, renewing, rejuvenating time in our home. Black Bear Resort is a homeowner owned resort that is managed by employees that become family. There are over 60 pedestal homes on the resort available for rental. The homes are great for couples, families, family reunions, weddings, and retreats.
I like the fact that you can have your friends with you but renting their own house close by, instead of renting one house with everyone on top of each other! Our house is spacious with a loft open to the living area below. It is well decorated with comfort in mind. It is well stocked. All you need to bring is food and clothes! (With the awesome restaurants close by, you could forget the food!) Since we come here often, I have the house ready for all comforts.

I love to come here and refresh when life gets complicated or crazy. It is a healing place.

Great Black Angus Steak. All food is made fresh. Has their own brand of Merlot wine. Neat place.
She has the best baked goods, cakes, pies and donuts! She also sells lunch meat, hot lunches, coffee, and even made to order birthday and wedding cakes.
She named it "Flying Pigs" because that is when she said she would open a restaurant! Open for breakfast and lunch. The food is very good and also all made fresh, no frozen food there!
The lake is always 74 degrees year round. Lots of people scuba dive there.
Kid friendly with games. Earn tickets for prizes. Good homemade food and pizza.

My husband and I went to Black Bear Resort for our first anniversary and loved it so much that we bought the home we stayed in. Our kids love the skiing, white water rafting, mountain biking, and hiking. I love the deck, the pool, and the scenery around the resort. You cannot find a better place for reading or playing cards than on the deck. My husband loves riding around the area and talking to the farm owners and the residents of the little town of Davis. My favorite season is Summer. There is no humidity and always a breeze.

Thank you for sharing your home with our family. We had a beautiful family weekend. Snowstorm blew in late Saturday afternoon and we lost power for a few hours. My husband built a fire and we all stayed very cozy. The kids enjoyed skiing and our dog loved playing in the snow. We ate at our 2 favorite places-Sirannis pizza and Hellbenders burritos. We will definitely be back!

Lovely well furnished home. Home being the key word, so comfortable with everything you could possibly need, it felt like being home but better with none of the responsibility or demands! So refreshing not to be bombarded with instructions and rules. Nice to be treated as intelligent adults with common sense. Plenty of room for all four of us. The home suited it's setting perfectly, like it just grew up out of the earth! We would definetely go back. Thanks for the opportunity to enjoy the serenity of Black Bear Resort in a very comfortable fashion.

My husband and I stayed at this cabin near Canaan State Park and found it the perfect week-end retreat. We love the state of West Virginia and especially this area. It was a rainy and overcast week-end that we stayed, but we still found plenty to do. The cabin is artfully crafted with bear memorabilia giving it a "flavorful mountain touch." I think this place would be beautiful in all four seasons. We enjoyed running around and visiting what seems to be a "village" of people healthfully chosing to live in harmony with others and nature. Both Davis and Thomas are delightful, quaint towns with plenty of great food, entertainment, arts, and crafts. We even enjoyed a local microbrewery replete with one of the best burgers we have ever eaten. We also hiked at Black Water Falls and tried to ride the ski lift at Canaan State Park (but it was closed due to the weather). We loved being at the cabin also as we had every amenity that we needed. If you are interested in a reasonably priced cabin that offers much opportunity for adventure or peace and quiet....this is the place for you.

We loved this place. Very attractive and well-furnished cottage with spacious deck overlooking woods. Resort property adjoins wildlife refuge, has great mountain views and amenities. If you want a lovely place for 2-4 in the heart of Canaan Valley, this is it!

The unit was beautiful. It was perfect for our weekend getaway. The roomy bathroom and Jacuzzi bath tub was my favorite. The little bears placed around the unit gave it a homey touch. It was so peaceful that I almost couldn?t bear to leave it behind. The unit exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend this unit for couples; it?s the perfect romantic place to lose yourself in the beauty of Canaan Valley. We enjoyed about 4 feet of snow and the resort did an amazing job keeping the roads clear and was extremely helpful. We give it two thumbs up!
