Summer Haven at the Lakeshore is a 3 bedroom 2 bath log home, easily accessible to M-89 and I-196. Its log cabin architecture has been updated for modern living in a peaceful, private setting. The home is well off the road, with a large fenced on both sides yard, a beautiful bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, and 45 stairs to a personal beach. There is outdoor furniture on the beach and bluff, and also on the deck around the house, perfect for eating outside.
The cottage is cozy, on two levels, the main floor has the kitchen and living, the queen bedroom and a full bath, and downstairs in the walkout garden level are the king and twin bedrooms, a full bath and the laundry room. The location on the west coast of Michigan is near the harbor villages of Saugatuck and Douglas, an area known for relaxed living, a lively arts scene, shops, galleries, fruit and vegetable growing and u-picks, and beautiful beaches. There is fun to be had relaxing, or heading out to the many good eateries, brew pubs, wineries, and other interesting coastal towns.

There is a make it yourself art barn, a family run fruit farm with a pie cafe, u-pick farms, great hiking in wooded dunes at the State Park, charter sailing and fishing and dune schooner rides.

Year Purchased: 1976
We live on the property, and have a sailing charter business in the summer in Saugatuck. We can help you with all the local information! We have rented out Summer Haven for about 10 years for weeks in the summer time. We have mostly repeat clients who call Summer Haven their beach house for a week or two each summer. This is the first time we are opening up our home for more weeks, and extending into the fall.

We have lived and worked in this area for many years. There is no better place than West Michigan in the summer and fall. The beach is always changing and interesting. We love the starry nights, and the long beach for walking anytime.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin Home
Within a 5-10 minute drive to the center of Saugatuck and Douglas, but out here on the Lake it is nature and beauty that surrounds you. If you drive one and a half hours to Michigan City, Indiana, you can park for free and take the electric commuter train right into downtown Chicago, a 90 Minute ride. You can easily enjoy museums and Millenium Park and dining in downtown Chicago for the day and return by train to your car and drive home in the evening. Very easy and fun.
