Chestnut Street Cottage
The owner does not provide internet, cable TV or phone as the description states. The house is located on a beautiful street in a wonderful town but the exterior is badly in need of paint, the trees and bushes are overgrown and the flowerbeds are full of 3 foot high weeds. The bedrooms and back deck are very nice. The master bathtub/shower is a "Rube Goldberg" setup, probably not suited for seniors.

Owner response: We were a bit disappointed in this guest review, but not surprised. When we arrived to inspect the house after the end of his stay, we were disgusted at the condition that the house was left in. The house was absolutely filthy inside. It took a full nine hours of cleaning to prepare the house for guests that were arriving later in the week; not to mention the time and effort to have the rugs professionally cleaned. After addressing our concern with him, we were told that the house would be given a negative review. All this after spending two months at the house with nothing but positive feedback. Let me address the complaints listed in this review. The house is fully wired for cable, internet, and telephone. This guest had these services during his stay through Time Warner, so I am not sure what the issue was here. The property is serviced once a week by a professional landscape company. If we had known or been informed that there were some weeds in the flower beds we would have had them pulled. I apologize for this and will make sure that the weeds are pulled in my absence. The three bedrooms and the full bathroom are located upstairs. I can see how this would be an issue if someone had a problem with stairs, but this man knew where they were located and never told me that this was an issue. I agree tht the exterior paint is a bit tired and could eventually use a paint job. Most guests spend their time outdoors on the wonderful cedar deck or down in the back yard. It is our goal to treat people as we would like to be treated in return. There is nothing more important than honesty in a relationship between an owner and guest. You will find that the description and pictures listed on the VRBO site are accurate and the house is well represented. We have had a great experience renting our home to many nice people over the years, and many of them have returned to stay with us again. Sincerely, Jen and Chris

About the owner: We are a family of four who have enjoyed spending our summers and vacations in beautiful Camden for many years. We live and work in Massachusetts and love getting away to our Camden retreat as often as we can.
Why the Owner Chose Camden:
We love the Camden region because of its many recreational opportunities and amazing scenery. From sailing on Penobscot Bay and hiking the trails of Camden Hills State Park, to enjoying the many restaurants and shops of downtown. We chose our home on Chestnut Street for its charm and close proximity to downtown Camden. The cottage is located on a beautiful tree-lined street surrounded by other period homes. You can enjoy swimming, kayaking, sailing or fine dining and shopping, all just a short walk away.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The cottage is sunny and bright with beautiful hardwood floors throughout. Downstairs offers a comfortable living room and a formal dining room. The kitchen is large and bright with a breakfast nook with built in glass cabinets. From the kitchen, step out onto our large second story deck, our favorite feature of the house. Enjoy your morning coffee as the sun comes up over the bay, and return to relax on the deck after a day of activities around town. The deck offers casual seating and a table and grill for dining outside. Plenty of room for a group to gather and enjoy the beautiful Maine air. Upstairs there are three sunny bedrooms that each sleep two and a full bath with a claw foot tub with shower attachment. There's also an outdoor shower.
