Shanagolden Ranch Retreat and Vacation Rental
Shanagolden is named after a little town in Limerick, Ireland that is said to be a place of great peace and tranquility.
Our lovely, rustic two story home is situated off Highway 46 West, in the heart of California's Central Coast Wine Country, on 100 private acres of oak tree covered canyons. Like its namesake, it is a magical place of serenity and peace. The spacious front courtyard and sun deck provides a spectacular view of soaring hawks above the surrounding hills and canyon.
The house is a charming combination of antique and modern furnishings and sleeps eight comfortably with two queen size beds, four twin beds and an additional queen size futon in the upstairs sitting room. All linens and blankets are provided. Our kitchen is equipped with plates, utensils and cookware.
Our self-catering kitchen is equipped with plates, utensils and cookware. Eggs, bacon, bread and cereal are provided for you to cook and enjoy at your leisure.
The downstairs living room downstairs has a cozy wood stove and our upstairs sitting room has a record player and a nostalgic collection of old LP’s from Jazz to Rock and Roll, Folk and Classical. There is a DVD and Video player with a selection of old movies. There is no TV and no internet service.

"Kristin was very helpful and very accommodating to our large group. The house is very nice and in a very relaxing area off of the 46. It is very close to the wineries and we had no problem getting to them for tasting. Thanks for everything, I definitely recommend staying here!"

Our adult daughters and baby granddaughter gathered with us for a few days of relaxation. Kristin was so very accommodating of our schedule, and we thoroughly enjoyed the privacy and coziness of this rental house. The proximity to wineries for tastings and also Cambria for art galleries and dinner made it ideal for us.

My family and I had a wedding to go to in Paso Robles and I was looking for a place to rent. So many rentals and hotels and motels. I came across to this site and it looked so nice and price too good to be true. I sent an email thinking no way this can be true. Immediately I got a response and confirmation that the price was correct. I called my sister and had her check. Finally we went there and I could not believe the view, the rooms so nicely decorated and cookies baked especially for us. I talked to my sister and we are going to plan to go back at lease couple times a year if not more. The owner is such a nice kind person and I couldn't ask for more. I have traveled a lot to Europe and United State and I can say this is was one of the best places I stayed in. Maryam
Owner response:Thank you Maryam! We enjoyed having you stay with us and look forward to seeing you and your family again. Kristin

My Husband and I LOVED staying here! We hadn't had a vaction at all since we got married, almost 5 years ago, and our weekend here was more perfect than I can explain in words. The property is away from a lot of business, and gives you the feeling like your away in the mountains. Yet, there is some amazing beaches just 10-15 minutes away! Since both of us are beach bunnies, we couldn't have imagined a better location for us. We look forward to coming back here and either meeting up with family or bringing friends here too, since the house is so cozy and can fit a good amount of people.

Shanagolden lived up to the description here and exceeded my expectations. I spent a lovely week enjoying the tranquility, garden, nature walks, watching hawks soaring overhead and hearing all the bird and animal life. The hospitality (and scones!) was wonderful. Walking the nearby beaches with the dog every morning, spending afternoons at vineyards and counting stars at night on the patio made for a relaxing retreat.

I just spent the weekend at Shannagolden and it was a refreshment to the Soul. I, my S.O. and another couple stayed there and we spent most of our time just sitting on the patio, listening to the sounds of nature, bird calls and utter tranquility. Saturday we did indulge to wine tasting just a few miles away, but the call of our retreat made us return early. I cannot emphasize enough the sheer refreshing pools of nature this place offers. We will return soon to our retreat in the green hills of earth that Shanagolden represents.

We absolutely loved staying at Shanagolden. Kristin was so warm and welcoming; she made our stay very enjoyable. The fridge was stocked with ham, bacon, eggs, milk, cheese; everything we would need to make a great breakfast. Plus wonderful coffee! Early the first morning we were enjoying breakfast on the deck and saw several deer ambling through the property; and, a pair of birds (we still can't figure out what kind) showed up every morning on the patio to greet us. It was absolute tranquility! The property is breathtakingly beautiful and the house is well approtioned and extremely comfortable. It can easily sleep several groups of people; or it's great for just two. One night was chilly, so we made a fire in the wood burning stove and grilled steaks on the patio while enjoying a fantastic bottle of Paso wine. Heaven! The property is surrounded by a beautiful forest; you feel like you're miles away from the hustle and bustle of everday life, yet you're only a few minutes from the wineries of Paso. After visiting Shanagolden, we decied we're never staying anywhere else in the Paso area. In fact, we've already booked our next trip. Thank you Kristin!

Just spent a lovely weekend at Shanagolden Retreat. The house is comfortable, with a beautiful patio, yard and outdoor deck for dining. The privacy and serenity of the wooded property was perfect for our girl's reunion. We were close to Paso Robles as well as the beach for day trips. In the evenings we were treated to a fabulous display of the night sky. If you are looking for an affordable weekend retreat, in a beautiful, peaceful setting, then this is the place.
