Furnishings were chosen to impart a feeling of peace and tranquility to complement the breathtaking panoramic views of Florida's Nature Coast.

Tranquility is equipped for your comfort and convenience. Professionally and luxuriously decorated, relax and enjoy our laid back environment. Experience the best Cedar Key has to offer. You can view a floorplan of our condo and many more photos on our website.

Our northeast-facing balcony offers a stunning view of small mangrove islands, Wacassassa Bay and the Gulf. Enjoy sunrises year 'round. Watch incredible summer sunsets. Pull-down bamboo shades and a ceiling fan are provided for comfort. Breakfast on the balcony offers amazing views of birds, fishing boats, kayaks, and the ever-changing sky and sea in Cedar Key. At high tide, we're often visited by dolphins in the small bay below the balcony.

LIVING AREA
Our living room offers a vaulted ceiling, a comfortable queen sleeper sofa, a love seat and wicker chair for relaxing in front of the (cable) 27 inch TV/DVD and a 3 disk CD stereo. A small, eclectic library of videos/dvds pleases most tastes. We also have a library of CDs, books, magazines, puzzles, and a game closet to delight adult and child tastes.

TECH AREA
Our Tech Area offers WiFi and hard-wired DSL - bring your laptop! Or use our PC - if a computer is critical - be sure to bring your own! A desk with telephone, dual phone jacks, 17 inch monitor, keyboard, and a fax/printer/scanner complete the office amenities.

DINING/KITCHEN
Tranquility's dining room seats six (in chairs!) comfortably. Table service for eight plus, along with plenty of glassware (water, wine, margarita, and martinis!) and serving dishes are provided to serve up your feast in style!

Our self-catering kitchen is furnished for the gourmet cook. We love to cook and eat-in often. Local, fresh Cedar Key Florida seafood inspires even the least motivated chef!

There are plenty of good quality pots and pans, baking pans, and even a pizza pan along with utensils, gadgets, and measuring tools. We've stocked a set of spices and a very basic pantry for guest use. Some favorite recipes are included in our guest binder and a few basic cookbooks are available. A coffeemaker, bean grinder, blender, bagel toaster, George Foreman grill, slow cooker, and over the stove microwave complete the kitchen. And yes, we have a tea kettle.

BEDROOMS
The master bedroom suite offers a king-size bed (brand new plush mattress as of 7/2009) with two nightstands, lamps, dresser and walk-in closet. The master bath is spacious with an over-sized counter, tub and shower. The guest bedroom has a queen size bed, two nightstands, lamps, dresser, and closet. The guest bedroom has a full bath off the hallway.

OTHER CONVENIENCES
Full linens are provided - at least two sets of sheets for each bed, comforters, and many extra pillows and blankets. Luxury bath towels for six guests are provided. Pool towels and kitchen linens are also ready and waiting!

The laundry room has a stacked condo-sized washer and dryer and basic cleaning tools. A secure fishing pole storage rack is on the balcony along with beach toys and a couple of beach chairs in the storage box. Tranquility has both central heat and air-conditioning and ceiling fans in every room.

Our Cedar Key condo complex is very resort-like - there are only 6 units per building. A private fishing dock with freshwater fish cleaning station is available for our guests' use. A swimming pool and jacuzzi are terrific for relaxing. Boat and trailer parking are available on a "first come first serve" basis. The recently renovated town beach and park are less than 1 block walk with plenty of swings and other playground equipment. Our location lets you park your car in our covered parking and walk to dining, shops, the marina, and even the grocery if you like.

CEDAR KEY AREA
Surrounded by the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico in Florida, the Cedar Keys consist of dozens of islands or keys. About twelve of these islands are reserved as a part of the Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge and several are designated as "wilderness areas". The refuge boasts some of the largest numbers of nesting birds in Florida. You will see a variety of birds year round - if you'd like to see a list of common birds, visit our website listed below.

Cedar Key is old Florida at its best. There are no chain stores and most "traffic" is on foot, golf carts, or boats being launched at the marina. The marina (1.5 blocks) features boat and kayak rentals and there are plenty of knowledgeable tour operators happy to take you on a wildlife or sunset cruise. Bicycle and golf cart rentals are also available.

Fishing is a favorite with redfish, sea trout, grouper, spanish mackerel and whiting being the primary catch. Inshore and offshore fishing are popular - bring your boat or rent one at the marina. Kayaking is a favorite past time - be sure to bring your camera!

Cedar Key is part of Florida's Nature Coast--the feathered wildlife is abundant, the spring break party crowd is NOT. If you are looking for sugar-sand beaches, wild nightclubs, or singles bars don't come to Cedar Key--you won't find nightlife or long walking beaches here.

Be sure to check out our website linked below - there are many more photos, a floorplan, a full list of amenities, and lots of information to help you quickly get into the island life. And we're happy to help you plan your stay with us including restaurant and tour recommendations/arrangements and advice on coupons or other special deals. Just drop us an email!

Tranquility, Cedar Key Best Waterfront & Birdwatching + Wifi!

Year Purchased: 2002

Why the Owner Chose Cedar Key

We started visiting Cedar Key in 1997. An obscure reference to Cedar Key while doing a web search for "wild Florida" piqued our curiosity and we headed down for a long weekend and fell in love.

When I lived in Massachusetts, I'd spent my off season escapes on the Cape or on the Maine coast. After moving to GA, I couldn't find anything that had the old New England funky seaside town feel - where it didn't matter if you dressed for dinner, where there weren't any silly requirements for what shade of blue you could paint on a sign, and where birdwatching was just something you did as a matter of course, not just with a scorecard.

Cedar Key met all those requirements and more. No chain stores, lots of "gone fishing" signs in windows of businesses, restaurants with fresh seafood and not just overpriced "weird of the week". We looked for a place to love, found our spot and waited five years for our first condo to be built so we'd have an excellent view.

Now 12 years later, Cedar Key is still our favorite place to escape. We still spend most of our Cedar Key time hanging out on our balcony or the fishing dock watching the world go by to de-stress. And we love renting the condos out to folks and sharing our passion - Cedar Key, Florida.

The Unique Benefits at this Condominium

Renting directly from the owner provides vacationers with the opportunity to ask direct questions like - do you have a hairdryer? Can I hook up my computer to your WiFi? And of course, we love to help our guests plan their trips to Cedar Key from the quick weekend escape to a long stay for snowbirds. Let us help you enjoy Cedar Key!

A
Town Boat Launch and City Marina

Easy to walk to the launch and marina

B
Town Beach and Playground

Rent Kayaks, golf carts, play on the new playground (it's spectacular!)

C
City Fishing Dock

Brand new - opened in 2008! Fish from the dock and watch the boats head in and out. Excellent location to choose which restaurant to dine in that evening.

D
Serenity, our second condo in Cedar Key

2 stories of glass looking out on the Gulf and Wacassassa Bay

Owner's Map of Cedar Key

Cindy and John are "50 something" and new media designers living in middle Georgia where they enjoy birdwatching and a fabulous lake. Working vacations are a requirement for us and you can't beat working with a view like Tranquility's view...

What a great place! This is our third trip to Cedar Key, but the first time renting your lovely home. My eight year old son asked if we could live here. :) This is our longest stay, yet 5 days, and I love it. Truly time to relax. We are enjoying everything Cedar Key has to offer and loving coming "home" every night after dinner. Thank you for opening your home and we certainly will be back.

    • Everything at Tranquility was wonderful. From the very beginning, we received a treasure trove of information pertinent to our stay. The condo itself had all the creature comforts of home. It was a wonderful retreat and we loved it! Thanks so much for sharing it with us!!!

    • What a wonderful site! Beautiful, peaceful, and educational. So much better than "going to the beach." The Suwanee River tour produced a lifetime of memories. We appreciated the efforts John and Cindy have made to provide amenities and information to make our stay fun and eliminate stress.

    • We are just finishing our vacation in Cedar Key. Wow!! Great place with dolphin sightings every day and so much bird life. The view from the balcony is sensational. We would specifically like to give praise to Captain Doug and his tours. The marshes trip with the birds (and accompanying dolphins!) was the best wildlife trip we have done in our many travels. Real laid back delight. Hope to visit again some time David and Maralyn Ings - UK

    • Just got back home from a wonderful week in Cedar Key. Tranquility was PERFECT ! The most incredibly relaxing sights and smells of the coast ! Spent a week in Cedar Key and loved every single day. Would definitely recommend Tony's and The Island Hotel as evening restaurants. Raw oysters for lunch at the Raw Bar on Dock Street and Coconuts - both were excellent. Also try the crab omelet at the Depot Cafe for breakfast - out of this world. Excellent day fishing (caught enough trout and redfish for dinner for four which we prepared in the well appointed kitchen) This is the third time we've taken Captain Doug's tour (Tidewater Tours) and each time it's informative and different ! Side trips included Manatee Springs and Homosassa Wildlife Park. Will we come back ? To quote an Alaskan politician - "You betcha !"

Your condo was perfect - easy walk to great restaurants, and to explore Cedar Key. Short drive to the lower Suwanee nature reserve and Manatee Springs State Park. The view of the mangroves and birds is just incredible, and we really appreciated the binoculars and bird books. It was too cold to go on a boat tour - we're waving that for the next trip! We agree - try the crab cakes at the Island Room - they're fantastic!

    • Thanks for sharing your condo. We fell in love with Cedar Key, and the condo was the best part of it. The view of the marshes, with the constantly changing flocks of birds, was very relaxing, and we had fun looking up the various kinds of birds that we watched with your binoculars in the books that you thoughtfully provided. We spent a whole day walking the trails through the wildlife reserve, and the park at Manatee Springs, but the best birdwatching was from the living room and deck of the condo. The restaurants were excellent, especially the crab cakes at the Island Room - the best we've ever had. We will definitely come back again if our travels take us to FL - I can't imagine any place as wonderful as this!

Your condo is one of the nicest places we've rented. Everything we needed plus a gorgeous view. We could not get over how quiet it was. I could have stayed on the porch forever. Your suggestion of Frog's Landing was wonderful. We highly recommend taking an Island Hopper Tour with Bryan. The kids loved it and Bryan was knowledgeable on everything from Cedar Key history to the fine art of clam farming. We can't wait to come back and bring Daddy.
