Our stay at Tranquility was as advertised- clean roomy condo with beautiful nature views from the balcony and gulf view also. Great sunrises and sunsets from the balcony. Cedar Key is a natural delight- so historical and interesting. Every restaurant we walked to had awesome cuisine. Just take note the condo is a 3 story walk up- no elevator, but the view was great . Take the boat tour around the keys and learn about this special historical gem of a town.

Thanksgiving week

We just spent Thanksgiving week in total Tranquility. The condo lived up to our high expectations and then some. Really got to know the little village well -- especially Tony's clam chowder. The kitchen is, indeed, well equipped; the only thing missing was a mallet for cracking the fresh stone crabs, but we managed. In fact, all I can say is -- book us for same time next year. Thanks for allowing us to use your home away from home to make our Thanksgiving week so special!!

Wonderful Stay

We have stayed at Old Fenimore Mill in Cedar Key many times over the years, and 'Tranquility', by far, is the nicest. The owners anticipated, and exceeded, all our needs, and provided us with all the comforts of a home. I realize a rental property can begin to look ‘tired’ over the years, but this is a well-maintained property. We did very little cooking while we were there, but the kitchen has everything you would need to get the job done. Most rentals have secondhand or cast-off cooking utensils, dinnerware, small appliances, etc., but not at 'Tranquility', and to me, that says a lot. The beds were very comfortable with luxury sheets and the bathrooms very clean. We enjoyed sitting on the porch during the afternoons (with a ceiling fan that actually worked!) and watched Roseate Spoonbills feeding in the marsh, as well as a mother dolphin with her calf playing in the water. The wildlife is indeed incredible, and the owners even thought to supply binoculars! There is a pool and hot tub on the grounds, and they have since updated the area with landscaping and a pergola for some shade. There is ample room to park a vehicle and boat trailer, and there is an area to clean your boat as well, which was nice. We highly recommend ‘Tranquility’ for your stay—we will definitely return!

Sorry to take so long to write. Hectic days since we got home. The condo was all we hoped for and more. Incredible how well stocked and supplied it is. I didn't do any cooking but sure could have, but you know that. We were all very happy with our stay at Tranquility. The balcony got a lot of use and we really enjoyed the views and birding. Three roseate spoonbills entertained us every AM at low tide, and having ibis pick around in the grass is a first. Exceptional bed in the main - most comfortable I can remember. But toooo big. We sleep on a double at home and kings are always a surprise.I think the high point of our stay was the wonderful dinner we had at the Island Hotel Dining Room. Scott and I also ate at the Island Room on the water, and it was good, but the old hotel was really a very special experience. Tony's clam chowder was as billed - very tasty. And the salads we got there were nice and very large! We did takeout as the cafe ambiance wasn't as good as our balcony. We enjoyed both local museums.Wish you weren't so far away! We've just returned to Iowa after spending a very relaxing week at Tranquility in Cedar Key. The condo and its environs were all that the website promised. Even though the March weather was a bit unpredictable and cool, we had enough sunshine days to enjoy bird-watching from the deck, a cruise with Capt. Doug, and manatee viewing at the Springs. Thanks for sharing with us - and our dog Flurry. The experience was worth 1,300 miles in the van to get there!

We have rented vacation rentals by owner for years and found no better place than Tranquility! Seldom does a place exceed our expectations, but Tranquility certainly did. The interior decor is as peaceful as the scenery that surrounds this ideally located condo. The weather did not cooperate with us - raining or windy or both - for most of our stay, but we found much to enjoy anyway. Delightful shops, great restaurants, interesting history, Capt. Doug's tour, the Shell Mound and Manatee State Park were we saw several manatees and lots of buzzards!And, of coures, the incredible bird watching to be enjoyed right outside our windows at Tranquility! Simply amazing. Our hope is to return in the not too distant future.

We made a nature and birdwatching trip in S. Florida. Cedar Keywas a wa nice place to end we thought. But Tranquility is not only a good place for birdwatching, it is a paradise, an American fairytale. What a great place! This is our third trip to Cedar Key, but the first time renting your lovely home. My eight year old son asked if we could live here. :) This is our longest stay, yet 5 days, and I love it. Truly time to relax. We are just finishing our vacation in Cedar Key. Wow!! Great place with dolphin sightings every day and so much bird life. The view from the balcony is sensational. We would specifically like to give praise to Captain Doug and his tours. The marshes trip with the birds (and accompanying dolphins!) was the best wildlife trip we have done in our many travels. Just got back home from a wonderful week in Cedar Key. Tranquility was PERFECT ! The most incredibly relaxing sights and smells of the coast ! Spent a week in Cedar Key and loved every single day. Would definitely recommend Tony's and The Island Hotel as evening restaurants. Raw oysters for lunch at the Raw Bar on Dock Street and Coconuts - both were excellent. Also try the crab omelet at the Depot Cafe for breakfast - out of this world. Excellent day fishing (caught enough trout and redfish for dinner for four which we prepared in the well appointed kitchen) This is the third time we've taken Captain Doug's tour (Tidewater Tours) and each time it's informative and different ! Side trips included Manatee Springs and Homosassa Wildlife Park. Will we come back ? To quote an Alaskan politician - "You betcha !"

Your condo was perfect - easy walk to great restaurants, and to explore Cedar Key. Short drive to the lower Suwanee nature reserve and Manatee Springs State Park. The view of the mangroves and birds is just incredible, and we really appreciated the binoculars and bird books. It was too cold to go on a boat tour - we're waving that for the next trip! We agree - try the crab cakes at the Island Room - they're fantastic!

Thanks for sharing your condo. We fell in love with Cedar Key, and the condo was the best part of it. The view of the marshes, with the constantly changing flocks of birds, was very relaxing, and we had fun looking up the various kinds of birds that we watched with your binoculars in the books that you thoughtfully provided. We spent a whole day walking the trails through the wildlife reserve, and the park at Manatee Springs, but the best birdwatching was from the living room and deck of the condo. The restaurants were excellent, especially the crab cakes at the Island Room - the best we've ever had. We will definitely come back again if our travels take us to FL - I can't imagine any place as wonderful as this!

Your condo is one of the nicest places we've rented. Everything we needed plus a gorgeous view. We could not get over how quiet it was. I could have stayed on the porch forever. Your suggestion of Frog's Landing was wonderful. We highly recommend taking an Island Hopper Tour with Bryan. The kids loved it and Bryan was knowledgeable on everything from Cedar Key history to the fine art of clam farming. We can't wait to come back and bring Daddy.

This was a surprise vacation for JO. We are birders and nature lovers from NC. ... So I stuck my finger on the map of FL and hit CK. A moments' research revealed nature birds, off the "plastic-fantastic" FL path, a charming web page, and an instant Ah Ha! What a perfect vacation!! CK stands out... from the coast, from the rat-race culture, from time, from worry. We typically go to Bald Head Island where there is a similar atmosphere, where there are no cars and lots of birds. We saw more birds in our first day from the porch of Tranquility than we had in 20 years of birding at BHI. ...We are having a hard time leaving this morning. We are on the porch (65 o) takin ga last look at our new piece of nature. Our eyes hurt from looking. Thank you John and Cindy.

What a wonderful place to stay! While we were only here for a weekend, we'd truly liked to have stayed much longer. We celebrated our best friend's birthday (a little much) and staying here made it perfect. If you get the chance, go listen to the Dock St. band, eat some of Tony's clam chowder and have breakfast at Annie's Cafe. A great slice of Cedar Key.

This comment is written with knowledge of us having to check out in 1 hour and 25 minutes. A sad time it is for all of us right now. Tranquility is the most relaxing and peaceful place we have ever stayed. All the amenities were as promised and we were surprised how quiet the surroundings are. Lots of time was spent on the balcony watching the wildlife and the kayaks. There was even a small festival happening this weekend to top it all off. I will make sure to tell all my friends and family about your home and we will definitely be back.

We enjoyed a very relaxing and low key vacation here in Cedar Key. Our activities included paddling around in kayaks, putting around in a pontoon, a visit to Manatee Springs and a winde supply re-stock at Dakotah Winery. My husband's brother spent lots of time at the pool while I read novels to my hearts content. The condo here is by far the best rental we have stayed in. It is decorated beautifully and outfitted with many amenities that would definitely be "extra" elsewhere. All in all a lovely place that we hope to return to.

What a wonderful place to stay! OUr family had an enjoyable stay here in Cedar Key. My husband and I have always enjoyed our visits to Cedar Key and now have added, once again, another memorable visit. We pontoon boated around, not getting too lost. Went shopping at the Canvas Shop and made some purchases. We truly enjoyed the view on the balcony, including the working boats running in and out of the channel. Caught a small catfish, exciting for me! We will definitely return, hopefully sooner than before!

Did not ever imagine your internet pics would match the real thing. What fantastic surprise my wife and I received when we arrived here at Cedar Key! It has been an astounding stay and then some. This trip has given my wife and I a great new start as newlyweds. Although we have been married for only a year, we were married in May 07 and I was then deployed to Iraq on June 07, 2007. We certainly have made up for lost time with the many activities that surround the condo - it was very neat, dlean, and offered us a big dose of the small town charm we both are accustomed to. Tranquility is a place that you visit and fall in love with the town of Cedar Key. Every need is met before you even arrive thanks to Cindy. We have been to several beach vacations but have never been sad to have to wait to go back. The peace and quite of the town. The excellent shark and red snapper fishing and the wonderful pelicans and egrets. We can barely wait to come back.

Dear Cindy, The condo was wonderfull, really enjoyed it better than the other one we rented the last three years. yours has many more updated features in it. Only downer was your computer system wasnt't working properly, was nice of the Massing's to bring their lap top so we could read our messages daily. Oh by the way your twinkle lights also didnt work on the tree in the corner. Ok the important info, we had a GREAT TIME IN CEDAR KEY AS ALWAYS!!! Fishing was Good plus we caught sharks this year! The Dining out at Tony's,Island Hotel was Great! Also the pizza shop was Great! Coconuts, The Raw Bar and Sea Breeze nightlfe was real interesting and amusing as usual. We all can't wait to come back in 2009!

Cindy, Sorry it has taken me so long to let you know how wonderful a time we had in Cedar Key. Your home is amazing. I've been taking my wife to Florida (my home) for more than 15 years. From the Pinellas Suncoaast to Key West... never has she said the phrase, "I don't want to leave," until the day before we were to leave Cedar Key. From the town, its people, the great food, to the wonderful place we stayed... It's worth the effort to find your way to Tranquility in Cedar Key. We envy you having a place to call home there! Dear John & Cindy, I can't believe that our week in Cedar Key is almost over. It seems we just arrived! OK, the weather wasn't perfect everyday but who cares when you can hang at Tranquility and enjoy all of the amenities - fabulous kitchen, great music, a computer (if you must), and every comfort of home. We just loved it! The office staff here was just the best too. We tried to come up with a suggestion to improve Tranquility but couldn't think of a thing. Every possible angle has been covered to provide the most comfortable and enjoyable vacation imaginable. Thank you so much. We travel a lot and have never stayed anywhere like it! John & Cindy, we love your place! We can tell that you have been here often and worked hard to make this place really comfortable. We have stayed at other condo's before, and we can tell the difference!! Who wants to stay at a hotel after this experience? Except for a turtle crossing the grassy area and a great blue heron and a bunch of pelican and seagulls, we haven't had the chance to really look at the birds yet. But we sit at the balcony a lot, unfortunately usually it is at night, when it is pitch dark, then we just listen to the sounds and watch the stars and the planes. The weather was just perfect for being in December. We ate at the Frog's landing the first night, and decided that eating in, with your complete kitchen is the way to go! And we will take home some mullet dips for our traditional bagels and lox christmas breakfast. We brought a crate of bottled water, and we will leave the unopened bottles in the fridge for your next guests. Thank you for having a place with not a lot of "don'ts".

Our time at tranquility has been so special. We celebrated Thankgiving with our family here and have had the most memorable time. We love the town of Cedar Key and never tire of what it offers. You might think that a small town like this would be boring....well, we never have enough time to do everything that we want to do. Of course, the most enjoyable time is just sitting on the balcony of Tranquility and enjoying the views and birds. Tranquility is wonderful and we can't wait to return to this paradise.

Tried to add comment in your guest book and apparently failed - but did want you to know how much we enjoyed your place on Cedar Key October 14-17 '07. We enjoyed the deck in all happy hours and after dinner - sunrises, sunsets, birds galore, occasional passing fishing boats, tides going up and down -- all boasting a view so much more interesting than one straight out into the Gulf. The condo is well-furnished, maybe the best we have ever seen. Baked for breakfast and did up a mean fresh grouper from Robinson's up on #24 - your suggestion. We also had a great anniversary dinner at the Island Room across the street. Surprised there were no more people just a few days before the Seafood Festival. Had a 2-hour jaunt with Capt. Doug that was interesting, especially just to get out in the water. Strolled & biked through downtown and drove out to the airport and the Museum. Thought the St Clair house to be terrific. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 days at your place and were thankful, despite the steps, we were on the third floor where the views were so incredible. Aaaaaah, Leaving tomorrow, Did not know how much we needed this place. Loved the birds from the balcony, especially during the easterly winds at the first of the week which kept the tides really low, but fishing and boating not so good. Went canoing on the Rainbow River, absolutely beautiful, an oasis in the middle of nowhere. Thanks for sharing your getaway, the condo was very well equipped, people were all so nice. Cpt. Doug's tour was excellent, got to go into the lighthouse, and see a manatee, porpoises, frigates and much more. Hope to be back!!!!!

Wow! This is paradise! We had thought about traveling up and down the coast using this as a base, but were enchanted by the view from the balcony and spent much of our time there! Tranquility - what a proper name for this place. The trees, the water, the birds and even the wind on the porch all speak - TRANQUILITY. I have loved my stay here and even visited some of the nearby places but my greatest joy has been sitting, reading and listening to your beautiful music right here in the condo and of course... on the porch. This trip was a planned birthday celebration for my dear friend Dee; however I have felt celebrated as well. What a great place! Our first time here won't be our last. The back deck aviary is impressive. Great place for walking. the condo and the town are just as you described. Thanks for sharing your place... it's restored my faith that Florida is more than cars, strip malls, and crowds. We'll be back!

Our first time to Cedar Key and Tranquility, but it truly felt like where we wanted and needed to be. wonderful warm and sunny for kayaking, boating, biking and of course birding! We adopted a lone roseate spoonbill who kept roosting at about 10:00 looking out from your great vista porch. Sunrises and sunsets - what more could we want or ask for? Just a very nice peaceful place to be for a week - to be able to stretch out and relax and get a feel for laid back and friendly Cedar Key. Yes, indeed, we will return to this heavenly spot!

Thank you so very much for sharing Tranquility with us. It was the perfect retreat from busy lives. This view is spectacular at all times of the day, and dining on the porch was a treat! We kayaked and did the tourist thing during the day, and having such a well stocked kitchen made dining in better than going out. We look forward to returning for another tranquil getaway.

Tranquility is the place to stay if you're in Cedar Key! This is a well-equipped condo with a great location overlooking the marsh (more appealing to us than a gulf or ocean view). The first day we went into town (an easy walk) and had a drink on the deck at Frog's. Later we returned to the condo and decided that our balcony was the best place for late afternoon happy hour. One day we rented a golf cart and explored the island and discovered that there are a lot of pretty views in Cedar Key. The other thing we liked about Tranquility was that the website was so complete and detailed (floorplan, amenities, pictures, etc.) that we were confident about what we would encounter when we arrived and we weren't disappointed. We are already talking about returning to Cedar Key and Tranquility. Thanks, Cindy!

Tranquility is the perfect name for this condo. Thank you very much for sharing this beautiful, peaceful place with us.We will certianly be returning.It has been the best vacation we've had in years.We also very much enjoyed Cedar Key and ate at several of the restraunts and enjoyed them all, but the Island Room was our favorite.Thanks again and we hope to see this wonderful place again next year.
