Why the Owner Chose Donner Lake
Access to wonderful Donner Lake. Quick on and off route 80 from San Francisco and Reno areas. Donner Lake is less crowded than Lake Tahoe. Proximity to north shore ski areas and shopping
The Unique Benefits of this House
Donner Lake North Shore Ski area's. Purchased property as a ski cabin but found that the summers up at Donner Lake were even more fun with so many activities within close proximity. Plenty of shopping, bike riding, kayaking, canoeing, water skiing, free music concerts in the parks,white water rafting. There is even a CURVES workout franchise in Truckee. Don't miss the Hospice Thrift Shop in Truckee, Mountain Hardware and all the good restaurants. Sugarbowl, Royal Gorge and Donner Ski Ranch are just up old Route 40 from the west end of the lake. Tahoe Donner, Squaw Valley, Northstar, Alpine, Tahoe Cross Country and Homewood are within 20-30 minutes. Diamond Peak and Mount Rose, a little further. Kayaking at Sand Harbor and touring the Thunderbird Lodge are quite spectacular.

Affordable stay with a gourmet updated kitchen. Good place for a group stay for 2 families with young kids. Rooms were little tight but did not bother us too much. Good size living room and kitchen. Patio was nice but did not get to unitize due to cold weather. Summer months should be nice with BBQ and outdoor dinning. Great Lake view from living room and patio. Enjoyed every monmnet of my morning coffee with a great view of the lake.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children.

We had a such a wonderful time at the cabin. We had three children (9,7 and 18 months), four adults and the amenities were perfect for us. There was a portable play yard and mattress that worked perfectly for our 18 month old son, the bathroom adjacent to the master bedroom was big enough for our son to sleep in and still allow us access to use the facilities without waking him. The older kids loved having a bunk bed near their parents room downstairs. The entire cabin was cozy and warm, the fireplace was particularly nice with a large durable screen that didn't heat up and was no danger to our toddler. The kitchen is new and fresh, with beautiful appliances and soft close drawers. The owner is wonderful and a pleasure to talk to. Her attention to detail is fabulous, she even decorated for Christmas. One other great thing was the assortment of spices she had in the kitchen, I love to cook. The view to the lake is even more breathtaking with the winter snow. The picture shown does not do the view justice. Our only drawback was that our stay was too short and we should have found a way to book a third night. Next time, we are definitely coming back.

We had a great time staying at this cabin. The description and photos were accurate and the owner is very nice. It's clean and comfortable. The kitchen is gourmet. The space is open. The deck has a nice view. It's in a great location on the lake. The beach is a couple minutes away on foot. It's very close to great hiking trails and ski resorts.

Our stay at your place was absolutely wonderful! Just a brief walk to the private homeowner's beach at Donner Lake, it was the perfect summer vacation for our family. The weather was so perfect too! And the beach and lake were the perfect temperature! We brought our rafts and floated in the water all day! Your cabin is comfortable and cozy with all the modern amenities you need/want. Love the great room where we could all hang out together and your deck is so refreshing with the lake right in front! Love the swing on the deck!!! Beautiful kitchen!!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us!!! It is truly a slice of heaven!!! I highly recommend your property!
Owner response:Finally finished replacing the rest of the windows and new siding. Have plans in the permit department to wrap the deck around the lake side of the house. Will need to rent it regularly to afford to keep up the improvements I'd like to make. Next important improvement will be a tankless/on demand water heater. So glad you enjoyed your stay. Love the part about floating on the lake in your rafts. I was just up and shoveled four feet of snow off the deck. :-) Please come back again to play in the snow this time. Gail

We just returned from 3 nights at this beautiful place, and had an awesome time! It is light and spacious, but also warm and cozy. The kitchen is amazing - everything a gourmet cook could want (better stocked than my kitchen at home!) Plenty of space to relax and enjoy the views. The deck is great, just off the kitchen, and has a wonderful bench swing where I enjoyed coffee in the morning and wine in the evening - gorgeous view. Plus we barbequed and had smores. Great place, can't wait to go back!
