You may also walk just down the street to many restaurants that are listed for you in our guest book in your suite. There is a sitting area in the Choo-Choo Caboose (on the lower level) with area rugs, couch, chairs, tables, and a futon. The dining area has a large size table to seat six with a side bar that will seat three more. The floors throughout the Choo-Choo Caboose are all ceramic tile with area rugs.
The upper level has a large kitchen with ceramic tile floor, a large kitchen stove with drawers and storage for pans etc., original cabinets and hardware, and the original kitchen counter tops from the fifties era. The living room has original hardwood floors and a fireplace with electric flame logs for chilly evenings, leather couch and love seat, wide screen TV and a wooden train table with tracks and trains for the little ones.
The dining room also has original hardwood floors and has the original dining room furniture from the fifties. The carpeted bedrooms have a large ceramic tile bathroom between them. In keeping with the fifties era your bathroom fixtures are pink! The house has central heat and air conditioning and there are ceiling fans throughout the house, in each room. We have also provided a few games, magazines and books for you to enjoy in case of a rainy day, in both suites of the house. The suites can also be rented separately.
We have watched as changes have occurred throughout the years here in Bryson City. One of the most remarkable changes that has occurred in the down town area of Bryson City has been the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad. Thousands come each year to enjoy riding the train year-round, plus special events and dinner trains throughout the year. To mention a few, the multiple daily train excursions to Nantahala George, Mystery Theater Dinner Train, A Day Out with Thomas the Train, Peanuts the Great Pumpkin Express, Train & Raft Combo Trips and the Polar Express.
The Choo-Choo House location makes it an ideal choice for visitors who want to park in our parking spaces at the house and walk to ride the train and see the sights. You are within a two minute walk of the train depot and The Great Smoky Mountain Lionel Model Train Layout and, Museum, restraints, shops, Laundromat, and grocery stores or other points of interest in downtown Bryson City. You can also walk across the downtown bridge and rent a raft and ride the beautiful Tuckaseege River that flows right through town or go fishing. Everything is so close to the Choo-Choo House!!
We have enjoyed seeing the increasing number of visitors coming to Bryson City, from all over the United States and the world. They come to share the natural beauty of our beautiful little town nestled between the majestic mountain range of The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The park line is within five minutes from the Choo-Choo House . While there you can catch mountain trout , picnic, hike , go tubing down Deep Creek or just enjoy the wonderful relaxing sounds of the waterfalls cascading down the mountains into the beautiful crystal clear mountain stream below.
There are also many other attractions within a ten to 20 minute drive, white water rafting, at Nantahala Outdoor Center, fishing, swimming, tubing, the Cherokee Indian Reservation and Casino, Unto These Hills a Cherokee Indian Drama, Santa’s Land and many more attractions for your enjoyment. You will find literature and maps in your guest book to these locations and more!
Our goal is to provide a beautiful, clean and comfortable “home” for you to enjoy on your vacation. We have provided a guest register book for your comments. Please provide us with feedback on your stay at the Choo-Choo House and any improvements that we could make for a more enjoyable stay. We hope you will want to come back and tell your friends about us too!
