We have watched as changes have occurred throughout the years here in Bryson City. One of the most remarkable changes that has occurred in the down town area of Bryson City has been the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad. Thousands come each year to enjoy riding the train year-round, plus special events and dinner trains throughout the year. To mention a few, the multiple daily train excursions to Nantahala George, Mystery Theater Dinner Train, A Day Out with Thomas the Train, Peanuts the Great Pumpkin Express, Train & Raft Combo Trips and the Polar Express.

The Choo-Choo House location makes it an ideal choice for visitors who want to park in our parking spaces at the house and walk to ride the train and see the sights. You are within a two minute walk of the train depot and The Great Smoky Mountain Lionel Model Train Layout and, Museum, restraints, shops, Laundromat, and grocery stores or other points of interest in downtown Bryson City. You can also walk across the downtown bridge and rent a raft and ride the beautiful Tuckaseege River that flows right through town or go fishing. Everything is so close to the Choo-Choo House!!

We have enjoyed seeing the increasing number of visitors coming to Bryson City, from all over the United States and the world. They come to share the natural beauty of our beautiful little town nestled between the majestic mountain range of The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The park line is within five minutes from the Choo-Choo House . Owner's Map of Bryson City

My husband and I are the owners of the Choo-Choo House and also personally handle all of the rentals. We are local residents, and have lived here in Bryson City all of our lives. We attended local schools, church and have raised our families here. Fortunately we have never had to leave our beloved little town and mountains that are so dear to our hearts. I acquired this house through an Aunt when she passed away in 2006. Her late husband died shortly after completing the house in 1955. The couple was unable to have children and had planned to adopt children when the house was completed. After the death of her husband, her dreams of a family were lost, she lived and worked here and remained in the house for over fifty years, alone. She always spoke of the children she wanted so much and never had. The Choo-Choo House became a reality when we were deciding what to do with this wonderful gift. I feel that we have provided a way to fill the house with children and their families and fulfill her dreams of hearing the laughter of children in the house. We cater to families and family get togethers, reunions, and small groups. We began to update this charming house in 2007, and did not finish remodeling until September of 2008. We updated it with modern conveniences without loosing some of the fifties flavor. You will find throughout the house a sprinkle of antique pieces of furniture, and dishes. We did a lot of the work on the house ourselves, only hiring contractors for major upgrades, such as electrical, plumbing, and heating, etc. When they got into the process of replacing wiring and plumbing in the house , they found that the walls were very thick and were reinforced with steel guarders throughout. Special concrete saws had to be brought in to make the cuts - a tougher job than we had anticipated! My Uncle was an engineer so he built the house to last. We hope that you will enjoy this charming house as much as we enjoy sharing it with you.
