Loved it

Guest: Sveta (Palo Alto, California)
Date of Stay: 08/12/11 Review Submitted: 10/18/11

Our 4 days on Santorini were really unforgettable, in big part due to our stay at the villa. The views are even better than the pictures, location is convenient, food markets and restaurants are nearby. Aris, the property manager, was great – arranged our transfer from the ferry and car rental, gave us some helpful advice on sightseeing and other recommendations and was always available when needed. The villa is clean and well maintained. The second bedroom is close by but detached which gives everybody more privacy. Our teenager wished Wi-Fi was more reliably available, but not all of us agree. Sitting outside in the morning for breakfasts and at sunsets, drinking wine (Greek wine shop is nearby as well), while watching the caldera and cruise ships below are some of our best memories of this vacation.

Family of 5

Guest: Wendy, David and family (Sydney, Australia)
Date of Stay: 06/30/11 Review Submitted: 09/01/11

We were there 30/6/11 to 5/7/11. What an idyllic location! Uninterrupted views of the sea on the Caldera side. We looked forward to our morning and evening walks due to the beauty of our location. No need to go too far, although Aris (property manager) advised on the best things to do and see so we did explore a lot of the island. Aris had great restaurant recommendations such as La Maison, 1 minute walk from the villa. He also helped with car hire, booking a boat trip to the volcano, shopping and answering our questions at any time of the day. He was like a tour organiser and did far more than i have ever expected from a VRBO site. The accommodation was great for our family of five. What you see is what you get. The photos tell all. Aris took great pride in the properties he manages and was particular about us caring for the property, like it was his own. We loved the slightly quieter location but a 20min walk to Fira was OK. A separate cottage for us gave up privacy from our teenagers who also loved the accommodation and didn't mind the walk into Fira for some night time action. The bathroom is small but didn't bother us and everything was clean. Sitting outside around the table for food, drinks and sunsets was superb, as was relaxing on the deck chairs with a good book and a camera. We would have like a pool (too expensive for 5 of us) too but instead Aris sent us to some great beaches, with beach chairs, umbrellas, tavernas and music all loved by the teenagers. We would recommend this property to other families (not small children) and for couples we would recommend the studio apartments that have access to a pool in the best location. We stayed in one for 2 nights at the beginning as there were only 3 of us. The studios were in a great location with uninterrupted views, clean, cheerful and so Greek. There were a lot of stairs when carrying luggage, made easy by the athletic Aris who carried big bags. We want to go back again and again. Thanks Aris! Wendy and family.

Absolutely Gorgeous

Our experience at the villa was great. The views are spectacular. The owner was very helpful and pleasant and we had a very relaxing time. The villa is in a beautiful area, with good restaurants and supermarkets, in which you can just walk around and appreciate what Santorini has to offer. The villas location offers convenient access by car to both Thira and Oia but is away from the more touristy areas which we liked. If you are after a stay in a traditional santorini house this is a fabulous option.

"We stayed at Villa Marily back in Sept. 2010 for a week (me, my husband, and his parents). The view of the caldera from Villa Marily is spectacular!!! Probably one of the best spots for viewing the caldera/ocean/volcano. The area is nice with shops and restaurants nearby. The house itself is simple, clean, and comfortable and the terrace is spacious and inviting. Aris (contact for rental) was very nice, helpful, and hospitable."

Every cliché we read and hear about the Greek Islands is an understatement after staying at this villa. Once you meet the owner, Ari, you will understand why your stay was so perfect. The level of hospitality, the spotless accommodations and the most breathtaking views were excellent and merit a plus 5 star rating.. Thank you for making our stay memorable, we are definitely are coming back!

Home away from home during the holidays!

Guest: MMSnyder (Gothenburg, Sweden)
Date of Stay: 12/19/10 Review Submitted: 01/05/11

My husband and I spent approximately 7 days at Villa Marily in the beautiful village of Imerovigli over Christmas. If you have a chance to book this villa, don't hesitate. It is a gem! As another review stated, the views are spectacular from the patio overlooking the volcano and the caldera views of Ia and Fira. Traveling to Santorini in the winter also proved to be a fantastic choice for us. We experienced warm enough weather to enjoy sunbathing out on the patio area with adequate amount of privacy from neighbors as well as quiet ventures along the scenic and quick (less than 30 min) walk into Fira. The Villa was just as beautiful inside as out and came with all the amenities we needed to make ourselves feel at home for a week. It is as though they had truly thought of everything we might need during our stay; ie. umbrellas, hair dryers, candles, books, extra blankets, maps, etc, etc. We took full advantage of the well equipped kitchen facilities allowing us to cook full meals throughout our stay. All in all the villa was very comfortable. Aris, the property manager, truly was a magnificent host. When we arrived he had stocked the kitchen with plenty of local breakfast foods, fresh bread and wine and gave us a detailed run-down of recommended sights to see, places to dine, where to shop, and everything in between. There was also a cell phone that was provided to use during our stay. We called on Aris quite a bit for a variety of questions and he was always very polite and extremely responsive and helpful. Thank you Aris for helping to make our stay on the beautiful island of Santorini an unforgettable one! We look forward to coming to stay at Villa Marily again soon!!

A Dream Come True

The place is marvelous: outstanding view of the caldera, beautiful and cozy Mediterranean architecture, comfortable beds, best place in the island to take a sunset picture in September, quiet surroundings, and the best of all: the owner. Aris went far beyond the call of duty to satisfy all our traveling needs and made our visit to Greece a great experience never to be forgotten.

Just like living in a postcard

Guest: evelina (New York)
Date of Stay: 07/27/10 Review Submitted: 08/15/10

My friends and I stayed for a week in July/August 2010. This house is exactly as advertised, except that it’s even more beautiful in real life than in pictures (though we actually found a postcard that looked exactly like the house). There are lovely seating areas indoors and out, and the view is unbelievable. Linens, beach towels, Greek yogurt and other breakfast foods, and daily cleaning service were all provided, and Aris was incredibly welcoming. He answered all our questions and helped us rent a car (which is a MUST if you're staying on the island for a while). There are a few restaurants and grocery stores just upstairs… but you might just want to sit on the terrace all day and enjoy the view! It’s a dream vacation in the making!

Incredible Views

Guest: Tim & Anca (Huntsville, AL)
Date of Stay: 03/25/09 Review Submitted: 05/02/10

We stayed in this wonderfully traditional cave villa the end of March 2010. It is equipped with all of the necessary amenities for a care free stay. The small kitchen is equipped with all utensils required to prepare meals and local markets are a short 2 minute walk from the villa. The views from the veranda are undescribable with the deep blue of the Aegean Sea, islands of the caldera, and the volcano visible from every vantage point. Aris and Zak are wonderful hosts, ensuring we had answers to any question we had to include arranging for a local car for touring the island and site seeing. The island itself provided beaches, cuisine, friendly atmosphere and a unique charm - we loved it! The only draw back to our stay was the water pressure in the shower, but it was a small price to pay for the exception experience this wonderful location provides.

excellent views

Guest: Georgina R (Manchester)
Date of Stay: 03/06/10 Review Submitted: 04/12/10

I stayed at this villa with a friend at the beginning of March. We are both young professionals so we have high standards, which the villa met. The villa is a gem in the Aegean. The view is breathtaking. The veranda is cosy yet spacious. I had an afternoon nap on the comfortable built-in stone sofa the first day. I was covered with one of the white traditional blankets, warmed by the sun and cooled by the breeze, lazily opening my eyes to take another glimpse of the deep blue sea The cave-house is relaxing, traditional and very well equipped with its multimedia gadgets and internet facilities without being pretentious though. The beds are good and the house is overall clean. The kitchen is small but well equipped too, as we had all necessary utensils to prepare breakfast and snacks to go with the local white wine in the evenings. The staff is more than helpful. They helped us with timetables, recommended activities, restaurants and bars. They were eager to answer to any of our questions and they created a very warm welcome for us when we arrived. One drawback is that the villa is not accessible to everyone. There are quite a few steps to get to the accommodation. The location is ideal- only 5 minutes away from Fira. We hired a car, so sightseeing was easy. There's space to park two minutes from the villa and there are also 2 small super markets.
