A coworker and myself enjoyed this house in Millersburg while on the road for the job. Separate bedrooms were good and a nice living area and kitchen to use. It is in a very scenic area which was a pleasure driving through! Its right on the main road and easy to access.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We really enjoyed staying at this property. It was very comfortable and easy access to sightseeing in the Lexington, Louisville area. We really like to stay in small towns and enjoy the people. Very good value. And, yes, why stay in a hotel when you can rent all this space? It even has a washer and dryer.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband & I spent four nights here on a Kentucky golf excursion & visit to Churchill Downs Kentucky Oaks. COL Land greeted us on our arrival to help us get acquainted with the apartment. He is passionate about local history & obviously loves this quaint town of Millersburg. We appreciated his suggestions to local sights, towns, history, restaurants and shopping. The apartment’s two bedrooms are decorated with beautiful antique furniture. The kitchen is well supplied for any cooking needs. The bathroom is simple, but was adequate for our needs. Our requests for a few extras were met the next morning. A comfortable, quiet & convenient spot for us to experience beautiful Kentucky! Thank COL Land for your hospitality.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

My sister and I enjoyed our stay in Millersburg. It was the perfect spot to explore this sleepy little town, as well as a short ride to Paris. We went to dinner at Clays and took photos at the Bourbon County Court House. The unit has nice furnishings, comfy bed and couch, TV with cable and internet. It's quiet and the owner was very helpful and a nice host. Since we were just "passing through" we only stayed one night, but it was a good night.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We wanted to experience life in small town America and we were thrilled to find this cottage on Main St, Millersburg. We loved that we could sit upstairs and watch through the picture window as the town went about it's daily business. We found Millersburg to be a great base for day trips on our Harley. We enjoyed some great rides and it is impossible to describe the picture perfect beauty of the surrounding countyside. Our stay in July, 2011 coincided with some extemely hot and humid weather and it was a pleasure to arrive back to a comfortable airconditioned home. We always knew that Col Joe was available to help if there was an issue that needed to be dealt with (there wasn't) and it was comforting to know that he was nearby but not intrusive. Col Joe is very proud of his accommodation and Millersburg, KY and rightly so. We are happy to encourage others to take some time out from their busy lives and experience life in small town America at Col Joe's. We found this little place to have the creature comforts of home which allowed us to enjoy our vacation on a budget. It was so much nicer then staying in a hotel...It felt more like college. If we needed anything the owner was right there; no matter how big or small the request was. Its location has fairly easy access to all the stores and especially our event which was at the Kentucky Horse Park. We liked it so much we plan on staying here for future events...The listing was very accurate. A++++++Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: It was a pleasure to host you last weekend! I look forward to hosting you again next year during the Rolex Games.

Colonel Land is the perfect host! He is friendly, knowledgeable accommodating and really went out of his way to make us feel welcome and comfortable in his home. In addition to greeting us at 11:30 at night (which we really were happy with), he gave us information on the local sites (including Claiborne Farms, final resting site of Secretariat) and the Kentucky Horse Park. As a military family, we were very interested in the Army Cadet Corps training base. Colonel Land gave us the "VIP tour," including the historic house and a peek at the barracks, mess hall and more. We are really impressed with the Army Cadet program and know that they are an important presence in Millersburg. I wish I was young enough to be a cadet! The trip from Lexington to Millersburg is gorgeous! I loved seeing the horses and cows, along with the beautiful and traditional homes. A walk to the local restaurant felt like a trip back in time. Folks actually greeted us, smiled and welcomed us to town! Being from Atlanta, this was a real change of pace! Wow! Thanks for a great trip, Colonel...we'll be back next year!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hooah! I look forward to having you return to Millersburg!

I stayed at Col. Joes apartment in Millersburg for 3 months. It had everything I needed as a business person. Internet, cable TV and a very comfortable bed along with a fully furnished kitchen. Most importantly it got me away from the city and into a very quiet community where the people were nice and freindly. The apartment had everything that was listed. On the day I checked out I felt like I was leaving home. If there were any issues Joe was there to help.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I couldn't be happier with my stay in Millersburg! Colonel Land did everything we could ask for to make us feel welcome. As Canadians, I found him to be a great Ambassador for Kentucky and the United States. It didn't take much to sweet-talk "Colonel Joe" to let us bring our Sheltie. It was great to walk her in the park. Visiting Millersburg is like going to "Mayberry." Everyone waved and smiled, just happy to see us. There's a great little restaurant - I think it just opened - less than two blocks from the home which is open for lunch. Yet another, just another block further away, which serves breakfast and dinner. It was great to slow down a bit and simply enjoy the neighborhood. The house is cozy, well-equipped and just a block away from the cutest little park! I really enjoyed my stay in Millersburg!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a great get-away! The quant town of Millersburg is like taking a step back in town. From the local diner to the friendly people walking on the street, we had a great stay! The apartment is well-appointed, with very comfortable beds and a great couch. The kitchen is just the right size for our family of five, with all of the necessities of home (coffee maker, blender, pots, pans, etc.). COL Land really went out of his way to make us feel comfortable, giving us an overview of the local area. We really enjoyed visited Blue Licks State Park, the restaurants in Paris, KY, and trekking over to the Kentucky Horse Park, which is a beautiful and scenic 30-minute trip. Thank you for making us feel welcome in the "Commonwealth of Kentucky." We look forward to returning soon!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I called Joe on a Tuesday, asking if my wife and I could use his place on Wednesday night. I had suddenly found myself with five vacation days that I had to use or lose, and I needed a nice place on short notice. Several other homeowners simply told me that they couldn't be available on short-notice. One took me to task for even asking for her place the night before we were to arrive. Then I received a call from Joe of Millersburg. He said "no problem...I'll get the house ready for you." I later found that he worked past 1 am to clean-up the house, as his housekeeper couldn't respond quickly and another guest had just checked out. I later found out that "Colonel" Joe is a military man who simply makes things happen! We met the next morning and was pleased to find the home to be comfortable and inviting. Others wanted to gouge us for calling at the last minute, but Joe gave us a fair price, responded quickly, put himself out to cater to our needs and did so with a warm smile! We will be back! :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed here during the WEG.. and after a hectic day (several days)... with way too many people.. and all of the traffic going right... we had a effortless.. wonderful drive towards the left.. we got to see how real Kentucky is... and there was a great convenience and a sense of community/belonging that we experienced while staying w/ Colonel Lamb. He is a very accommodating host... full of suggestions and information about the area... We were able to easily reach, access and enjoy all things Kentucky...within minutes. We have a small schooling barn in North Mississippi.. and as our students advance...we will find ourselves coming to Lexington a couple of times a year.... and guess what...we've found our home away from home! I've told so many people about Col. Lamb and his array of properties... Sigh, we miss our "Old Kentucky Home."Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I stayed here the summer of 2010. The owner entered house when we were not there. Actually signs of him having cooked in the microwave were evident I actually had to clean when we arrived so I new. Left us with a very invasive feeling. Went to do laundry and his dirty clothes were in the washer. Would not recommend to a friend. Disappointed to say the least.Owner response: I have been back and forth with VRBO about this review. Unfortunately, VRBO will allow anyone to post anything without validation. Therefore, they will not remove this invalid review. The guest says she stayed with me last summer, yet posts in February. If it is the person I think, she was not happy with the distance from Millersburg to downtown Lexington, and made an "issue" out of that fact. No one, under any circumstances, was cooking in the home while a guest was not there. The facts are: (a) my maintenance man performed routine maintenance on an item within the home, which she became very upset about, and (b) a previous guest left a single sock in the dryer. (c) she wasn't happy with the distance from Lexington (we're about 30 minutes from exit 113 off of I 75) and left in a huff. The drive is beautiful through rolling horse country. I'm as clear as can be that we are on the outskirts of Lexington. (d) I had my maintenance man and housekeeper thoroughly inspect the home after she left and found that it was clean and in good repair. I won't tolerate anything less. I learned a long time ago that I cannot make everyone happy. However, my commitment to ANY guest is to respond to any concern PROMPTLY and COURTEOUSLY. Ninety-nine times out of 100, folks are thrilled. Unfortunately, there's always someone who is not. I will do whatever I need to in order to ensure your comfort while staying as my guest. That's my promise.

What a great place! Tucked away in a quaint corner of the Blue Grass Region, this adorable rental was a perfect get-away! The home is well decorated, comfortably equipped and very reasonably priced. Most impressive is the comfort of the beds and couch, as well as the 52" plasma TV! The bathroom/laundry is conveniently situated off the main living area, providing easy access to all the amenities. The owner will do anything possible to ensure your comfort, including accommodating my last-minute request for a playpen for my toddler. I was especially impressed with the gift basket upon our arrival. The town of Millersburg is like visiting a Norman Rockwell scene. I highly recommend this location, especially for families and visiting professionals needing a long-term location. Enjoy!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

Travelers who enjoy quiet, early-1900's ambiance coupled with a cosy living area and modern conveniences would find this a pleasant place to stay. The beds are remarkably comfortable, and the living-dining area newly furnished and tastefully arranged. The kitchen is adequate for a short stay. The bath, though functional, is a work in progress. Stair-challenged travelers are cautioned that the living quarters and one of the bedrooms are up a steep flight of stairs. All in all, a pleasant place to stay on the edge of the beautiful blue-grass horse country, convenient to Lexington and the Kentucky Horse Park.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: It was pleasure to host this senior couple in our Millersburg vacation home for the Rolex Three Day Event weekend. We are very proud of the recent refurbishment of this nearly 100-year-old house and have intentionally designed the layout to make maximum use of the available space, without feeling cramped. New amenities and cosmetic items are added regularly, which has included new queen pillowtop mattresses, what we're told is "...the most comfortable couch in Kentucky..." We have also modified the bathroom to include a newly-installed shower configuration along with the laundry facilities giving our guests all the comforts of home. Thank you for staying with us, and we look forward to hosting you and others in the near future! Joe and Shannon

We very much enjoyed our stay at your home in Millersburg, KY. You have done a beautiful job decorating this property and we enjoyed our stay. Thank you for taking time to provide us with a gift basket of goodies, the kids enjoyed being able to sit down by the big TV and find treats as we finished unpacking the car. You were very accomodating to our short notice reservation, need for a portable crib and late night arrival, which made our trip so much easier! We loved the convenience of the washer and dryer and enjoyed all of the travel information you left for us about the surrounding area and local sites. We recommend your beautiful suite to any traveler wishing to get a taste of small town Kentucky living while in the area. Be sure to visit the covered bridge!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I spent a long weekend at this location, and it is very comfortable and nicely equipped. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking, warming, serving - whatever you like (including a dishwasher for easy cleaning). The living area is most comfortable with a very large tv with great cable for lots of relaxing and movie watching. The unit has two very nice bedrooms, all with plenty of room and comfort in mind. There is one bathroom with an antique style tub and shower, including a washer and dryer. This is a very nice place. FYI - the living area and #1 bedroom is all upstairs.Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
