Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2004
I am a retired cattle rancher, born and raised in Colorado. I relocated to Wyoming to enjoy the small town feel that my home in Colorado once held for me. I enjoy being the host of many different people from different parts of the world in my home.
Why the Owner Chose Wapiti
I chose Wyoming because of the vast outdoors. Fishing, hunting, skiing, hiking, horseback riding, motorcycle riding through Yellowstone Park, etc.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The Shoshone River is 1/4 mile away for fishing. Yellowstone Park is 25 minutes. It is a short trip to Cody for dining or a movie. Sleeping Giant Ski Resort is 20 minutes away. The mountains are right out the window 24/7. Wildlife is close and spectacular. It's like living in a post card.

We stayed at the Hamilton Lodge Oct. 1-3, 2011 and wish we had booked more time! John, his new bride Verna and Chico were wonderful hosts! We felt right at home with the roomy, comfortable accomodations. It was wonderful to have a comfortable bed to sleep in after an exciting day adventuring. John picked the perfect place to live on the ridge overlooking the valley! The views were spectacular and they extended their porch swing (made by John) for us to enjoy! There was a covered patio with stocked wood stove, recliner, bar, table and chairs and even a microwave so you could warm up your coffee without walking back to the house! John thought of everything! I would stay there again and again! I hope John is doing well after his eye surgery and that Verna's hand is doing well too. We have already recommended their place to others and wnt to come again. This is a perfect location for Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Beartooth Pass, Cody and more! Remember the views from his home too! Who could ask for more except to have more time! Thanks! It was perfect!

07/31/11 - 08/06/11 --- GUEST COMMENT BOOK --- John, we came to Wyoming with anticipation of seeing Yellowstone - we have experienced so much more and a much richer journey of this place because of you and your generous nature. The lodge has been absolutely perfect - a warm, homey place and so accommodating. We couldn't have asked for more. The views are majestic and the drive each & everyday have given us a better appreciation for this part of the country. Just to mention some of the things we did - Yellowstone tour of Northern range & circle of fire (awesome bus tours out of Lake Lodge especially for older folks) car ride to Grand Tetons with picnic @ Colter (awesome again), horseback trail ride, 1 hr hike with John, Cody Rodeo. All that we did was/ were incredible. But John & Chico & their time spent with us solidified this outstanding vacation. John - hearing your journeys was so fascinating& we loved every minute of it. Thank you for the corn chips, moose burger, cinnamon rolls, ice box rolls, zucchini and more importantly - your time. The hike yesterday capped off a wonderful time. We feel so blessed to have met you - you are an amazing person! We came to Wyoming with anticipation of seeing Yellowstone - we are leaving now a friend who has made our anticipation so much richer. Many blessings John as you continue your journey. We will not forget you or this place! Warm Regards... B&F Fraundorfer,Ockton, VA

07/25/11 - 07/28/11 --- GUEST COMMENT BOOK --- John, the home you have here and the surrounding area is just breathe taking. We will return here when we visit the park area again and inform our friends and family of your home and generosity. This is our first trip to the park so we tried to squeeze in as many sites in the park as we could. Unfortunately we didn't get to visit with John and visit the beautiful sites around here as much as we would have liked. Thank you John for making arrangements for horseback riding. That's all we heard from our son most of the trip. You made his day! We wish you the best and hope to see you again! - B&C&M&J Leakey, Independence, MO

06/28/11 - 06/29/11 --- GUEST COMMENT BOOK --- Out guest out west was to provide a life experience education for our ten year old granddaughter, Gillian Anne. Today's generation knows very little of the trials and tribulations that our courageous American pioneers endured to conquer this vast part of our great country. Our family feels divinely led to have found John. It wasn't just a place to lay our heads - it was visiting a family member. The tales he spun with the twinkle in his eyes is worth far more than any school books Gillian could ever gain knowledge from. But foremost, the peace and tranquility we felt here was the part of our stay like none other. Staying with John became the epitome of our trip. We've gained a friend and have memories of a little piece of God's heaven. God Bless You!- S&G Spurlock

06/18/11 - 06/24/11 --- GUEST COMMENT BOOK --- Great Location! Thanks for your guidance and advice. The grand kids loved your story about the pheasant chasing you on your tractor. They will remember this trip forever as will we. The area is so nice this time of year. We got to enjoy Yellowstone, the rodeo, the river rafting and the Aquatic Center saved us on the one day it rained. Best Wishes to you and yours and may God Bless you all the days of your life.
