Location: Hancock, Sugarbush, Mad River Glen, Vermont, USA (Just South of Warren and slightly north of Rochester)
Accommodations: Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths (Sleeps 5-6)
Keywords: Cabin, retreat, ski chalet
Located in the heart of the Green Mountains on ten acres. Mountain views and remote feel, but only 20 minutes from Warren/Waitsfield area. Ski or snowshoe out the back door or cozy up and watch movies on home theater with over 100 movies. Brand new, with all the modern amenities, but done in classic cabin style. Enjoy walking/sledding on site or hiking the nearby Long Trail, then a relaxing hot tub under the stars. 15 mins to Middlebury Snow Bowl, 25 mins to Sugarbush or 45 to Killington. Great swimming, kayaking, etc. Perfect any season!
Size limitations
The cabin is 850 sq ft. so not designed for large groups. It is one large space downstairs and two separate bedrooms above. It has a much larger feel than it's size indicates however, due to a two story loft above. There is also a generously sized mud room/entry with a heated floor to dry out ski boots and stow gear. It is therefore best suited for couples or small families who are looking for a well designed and appointed quality cabin. Anyone looking for a traditional Vermont experience will certainly enjoy the areas offerings and the warmth and intimacy provided in the cabin.
It is recommended that you have a 4wd car or truck in the winter.

Dear Jeff, Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your cabin. It was an amazing spot to spend Thanksgiving. The cabin was amazing, the personal touches and craftsmanship were top notch. Also, your movie, book and game collection was a nice touch. The surrounding communities were so quaint and picturesque and we spent a lot of time exploring them. There is nothing better than waking up and getting in the hot tub every morning while staring out at the mountains and nature, followed by doing the same prior to going to bed. Having a nightly fire while watching a great movie on the big screen was beyond relaxing. You were correct about American Flatbread, it was awesome! Nice tip about the crowds too, as went right at five and sat right down. By seven when we left, there were easily 100 people waiting! Thanks, Mike and Sarah

Hi Jeff. We can't thank you enough for providing us with lodging that is so comfortable and with such nice amenities. After playing tourist during our stay last summer, we stuck a bit closer to home this time. Highlights were finding the swimming holes at Warren Falls and across from Newtons, Sunset Hike and local farmer's markets. Everything we ventured out to do was great fun! Also, it was wonderful to have our dog, Ginger along. Thinking we are hearty Southerners, who have endured a terrifically hot summer thus far, we did not believe we would need the A/C in Vermont, but I must confess that we broke down and used it one evening. We were so thankful for it! We really appreciate everything!

We stayed at this cabin for a long ski weekend the first weekend of March 2010, and it was just what we had hoped for. Everything was exactly as described, and the owner Jeff met us when we arrived to make sure we knew how everything worked. He was even available by cell phone when we got snowed in one morning, but the sand truck came by almost right away, just as he said it would, and we made it to the mountain just fine. The hot tub was even nicer than we expected (new, colored lights, cushioned head rests) especially after a long day of skiing. The wood stove made the cabin feel very authentic and was really useful, even though everything else is modern. The cabin is fully stocked with DVDs, pots and pans, towels, everything you could need. We definitely recommend this cabin to other couples or small families, and would stay here again ourselves.
Owner response:Thank you so much. We appreciate all the positive feedback. We aspire to provide a well equipped, warm and inviting retreat, so it is nice to hear how well it is enjoyed!

We spent 9 days at this little oasis last Winter and it was everthing we could have asked for and more. The location is superb! If you like to hike or ski, this is the perfect place. Several of Vermont's best hikes are within a short drive, as well as Sugarbush ski area and Mad River Glen. After a day on the trail or on the slopes, coming back to this little place and soaking in the hot tub while taking in stunning views of the Green Mountains is something to savor. The Cabin itself is gorgeous. It is extremely well maintained and Clean. It has a nice big kitchen. We cooked dinner there every night. Then we enjoyed watching movies on the huge home Theater screen. Imagine having a movie theater to yourself while listening to a crackling fire and watching the snow fall outside. It's as good as it gets for a winter getaway. Jeff, the owner couldn't have been more helpful. He left detailed instructions for everything you could imagine about the cabin in a large 3-ring binder, as well as several guide books, maps, local restaurant info, you name it. We are already planning a return trip next winter. If you want to experience a quintessential Vermont retreat, this place will not disappoint!

This cabin offers the perfect combination of relaxation and activity with all of the amenities that one could ever need or want -- from the movie theater, to the hot tub, to its close proximity to spectacular hikes and views -- it's a gem in beautiful rural Vermont. Our dog, Daisy, particularly enjoyed the cabin with its pet-friendly environment and access to plenty of wide open fields for running. We thank the gracious owners of the cabin for facilitating such a pleasant, yet invigorating visit.

Wow! What a beautiful property! This charming, comfortable cabin is well appointed. It met all of our needs and exceeded our expectations Our dealings with the owner made us feel like old friends rather than unknown guests. Every email exchange leading up to our stay was timely and friendly. A personal handwritten note with recommended activities, sites and restaurants greeted us, as well as area maps and brochures. The kitchen is outfitted for a cook. Sharp knives are always appreciated. The living area is cozy with picture windows, which allowed the wonderful views in. The description is accurate in that it feels remote, yet it is convenient to quaint towns and excellent hiking. This allowed us to play tourist on fun day trips to Lake Champlain, Stowe and Woodstock and still get back in time to relax on the porch and patio, read books, and watch the sunset each late afternoon. It was a perfect get-away.

We stayed at this amazing cabin July 18-22. Jeff the owner is incredible...he has wonderful communication and is so helpful!! I told him I was interested in hiking and he left books for us with marked hikes. The cabin itself is a piece of heaven... totally secluded and peaceful..hottub right off the deck..didnt hear a leaf blower or lawn mower for 5 days!! The cabin is so lovely.....their property is wonderful and the view is breathtaking. The cabin is also very close to many restaurants and amazing hikes and beautiful little towns. You can drive for hours and see one beautiful thing after the next. If you like hiking this is also the place to visit...we hiked daily and didnt begin to get all the hikes in that I wanted. Vermont is my new favorite place and this cabin in the woods was by far the most peaceful vacation that I have ever had....and I did not want to leave!! Thanks Jeff for sharing your home.

Cabin is newly constructed with vintage elements like wide plank hardwood floors. Everything is top quality, with more technology than you'd expect to find. The theater system was impressive, and it just hides away when you dont want to use it. Didn't have time to use the luge run or the snowshoes with everything else going on in the valley. Owner was very helpful from the beginning to the end, even helping mail back a set of keys forgotten at the cabin. Would definitely recommend for a couples weekend looking to escape to Vermont.
