The House of the Rising Sun is better than advertised. The house itself is very clean, comfortable and tastefully appointed. The oceanfront setting is just wonderful. The warm, caring hospitality of the hosts, Troy and Janice, is exceptional. The area is not a tourist trap - we felt as though we had stumbled through a time-warp to a less hurried and more genuine Hawaii. We have been to Hawaii several times in many different places, and we found this to be a special treat. Thank you very much. We'll be back.

We have been surrounded by beauty for our stay in your beautiful beach house. Beautiful waves, wind, rain, clouds, moon & stars, sunrises, flowers, green mountains, birds & beautiful smiling people. I wanted to meet you the moment I read your email and every correspondence was so informative. Extra special to give my dad a card. Wow you really planned ahead for us. We liked the ocean breeze and sound of the surf, your binder full of resources. Wow you are so thoughful and think of everything. The binoculars, great touch. Don't change a thing. Everything is perfect! Thanks for leaving the sunscreen and providing shampoo. Both of those came in handy. Your welcoming spirit stays with the house, even when you are in Kailua. Also the place is so clean and well maintained.

Thank you so much for the warm and informative communication up to and on the day we arrived. The sunrises, full moon, and the sounds of nature were "awesome." Troy & Janice you have a gem here! We enjoyed the house and the surroundings. I can't begin to tell you what a wonderful time I had. After a long day of play, coming back to the house felt like home. Bests...John Great price for oceanside location. This part of the coast is our favorite: lots of local flavor! Clean and just the right size. Troy and Janice, thanks for opening your home to us in this wonderful paradise you have here. Few words could fully portray the experience of coming home-literally and figuratively-to Oahu, where my heart and soul will remain until my body can come back and rejoin. Mahalo nui! Barbara

Troy and Janice welcomed us warmly and graciously upon our late night arrival. Their gift baskets and advice were wonderful. Troy kindly taught the kids where to fish right off the house. The house is beautiful, very clean and bright. The kitchen, family room, bathroom and master bedroom are excellent. The second bedroom is small, but ok for a couple of kids. The area is definitely the most beautiful on the island, very green and lush. The beach in front of the house was rocky and too rough for swimming when we were there (June), but our kids (ages 13 & 9) loved fishing and walking among the rocks right in front of the house. We loved Pounders Beach, just up the street from the house, which is good for boogie boarding and snorkeling. We also enjoyed the nearby Turtle Bay Resort beach and restaurants. The best snorkeling is very close by in North Beach: Three Tables and Shark’s Cove.

The house if lovely. We enjoyed the sunrises...sounds of the waves...snorkeling at Shark's Cove & Three Tables...jellyfish sting!...Ted's Pie...surfing at Waikiki...the yellow shrimp truck...fishing in front of the house...kayaking at kailua...swimming at Waimea Falls...sunset catamaran cruise...swimming with the sea turtles at Turtle Bay...Sunday Brunch at Turtle Bay...Pearl Harbor & the Mighty Mo. What a magnificent location! After a warm welcome and a delicious surprise from our wonderful hosts, we spent our first few days resting and beachcombing right where we stayed. It was so hard to leave! Few of the sights could even compete with the peace and beauty we found in the "House of the Rising Sun." Janice and Troy provided us with a wealth of information and a clean, airy house filled with caring details. All of their suggested restaurants were great and most we never would have seen had they not told us. The kitchen was well appointed and living space was clean, bright and equally well equipped. We will definitely be back! Remember to take off your shoes! Aloha!

Your home is a true retreat. We felt safe here and welcomed by the neighbors. We loved it so much we want our family & friends to come. Your aloha spirit was felt from the first email and confirmed the moment we met you! What a magnificant location! The sea view from the living room and lanai was mesmerizing. The weather didn't always cooperate, but we were perfectly happy relaxing and enjoying your beautiful home. Thank you for your generous spirit and deep level of care. The house is even better than what the pictures show. It's clean and well maintained. It is also conveniently located to many places you would want to visit (Polynesian Cultural Center, Haleiva, and Turtle Bay). Grocery store and several local restaurants are also just walking distance away. I would definitely recommend this house to those who want to get away from their busy life and just relax.

We love the house. If we had more time, we would probably just stay in and enjoy the place. Thank you so much for the warm welcome. The kids learned to love the ocean and Niko learned to ride the wave on his boogie board. Aija just didn't want to leave. This was such a great vacation for us. Niko summed it up when he said " I love Spring Break!" We look forward to coming back (WE LOVE the house)!

It was a great house! The best was the view and the cool breezes. The house was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed, even beach chairs! We'd refer it, especially if they wanted a place far from the hustle and bustle. Your home is delightful, the view great and the wind cool! We had everthing we needed. Thank you!

What we like best -quiet, proximity to the ocean, -watching the mahina (moon) rising (it was full a couple nights ago). We had a wonderful time. We are very reluctant to leave such a beautiful place. The house was beautifully appointed. Thank you for having beach towels/chairs/mats. The lounge chair is great. Everything is well organized. Awesome house. We really liked it. We had a few rain showers, but it didn't really affect anything. I loved the tag reef off the shore. I found a huge piece of coral. Good weather & awesome house = great vacation. Very relaxing, enjoyable time. Your guest book is a great resource. Thank you!

To sit on the deck in the sun, listening to the sea was so relaxing. Fantastic. You have a lovely beach front home. What we liked best was the view from the sitting room and the sound of the sea.

Dear Troy & Janice - Thank you for being the most gracious hosts' inspite of our late, late arrival. Hypnotic rhythms of the ocean, lush green valleys, warm sun, deep blue waters, relaxed pace & pulse of life - Oahu is truly a perfect paradise on earth!!! For the first time in our lives, we felt and experienced "La Dolce Vita" (wish we could say it in Hawaiian!). High light of our trip was staying at Ka Hale O Kalahiki. It was with great reluctance we pulled ourselves away from home, only to be lured back to witness and listen to the symphony of the ocean! We hope to come back sooner than we can dream. Mahalo for our warm welcome. We hated to leave each day to enjoy the sites! We'll never forget your beach house. It had everything we needed and more. What a great treat to wake up each morning to the sound of the waves breaking the shoreline and to sit with our drinks looking out at the ocean. We got to see the sea turtles, an awesome experience. We enjoyed your house very much. The small (toy) car was was very popular with Philippe!!! Good weather, very nice house, and great vacation!!! Everything went well and we enjoyed having a ready to start home with all the basic things included (salt, pepper, napkins, etc). Mahalo for your beautiful house and the welcome. We want to thank you for the use of your beach home. It made a perfect base from which to explore the island. What made it especially nice was the quietness, just the sound of the waves and the tradwinds. It was very relaxing. You are the perfect hosts, from the wonderful warm welcome to the beautiful send-off. We enjoyed exploring the places that you suggested and eating at your "favorite" restaurants in the area. Troy and Janice, A wonderful house with a great view of the ocean! The sunrise in the morning and the cool breeze off the ocean were fantastic to wake up to every morning. "The House of the Rising Sun" was one of the first songs I learned to play on the guitar many, many years ago but this time the house was not in New Orleans but on Oahu. In spite of a slight misadventure we had a great time in your lovely beach house. Thanks for your warm welcome and great asistance when it was really needed! We sure hope to come back!

We enjoyed the warm welcome and great beach house. Very clean and well kept. We loved sitting out by the ocean. Binder is a good idea. Had a great time snorkeling at Shark's Cove and exploring the area's beaches. Friendliness all around. Mahalo.

My husband and I wanted to say "thank-you" for making our tenth wedding anniversary so wonderful. Your rental was everything it said in the VRBO listing and more. We have suggested your house to many of our friends back here and I'm quite sure you'll be booking a few of our friends in the future. Thanks for letting us use your lovely cottage for our honeymoon. We did not expect all the great things we have found here. The view is great and it was so peaceful and relaxing. You are close to so many great beaches and places. Your recommendation binder helped us out a lot too. This place made us feel at home. We will highly recommend this place to others who are looking for a nice, relaxing vacation here in Oahu. Pictures on the web site do not do justice for this place. Your beach house was just perfect for our Christmas vacation with our 3 kids! Plenty of room, and so very quiet and private! We especially appreciate how new and well kept your house is. The highlight of the trip was waking up Christmas morning and watching a pod of whales playing out beyond the surf. We could see them breaching the surface, it was a great thrill! You have a very beautiful property here on the island of Oahu and we have enjoyed staying in your house. The house has been everything we expected and more. We will never forget the view of the Pacific from the deck. The house is perfect in so many ways that it is hard to be critical of anything.
