Our writing group recently held its annual retreat here. It was not just a retreat; it was a real treat for the mind, body, soul and spirit. It is a home that entices any artist's eye. A clean, calm, quiet atmosphere punctuated with whimsey here and elegance there. This is true both inside and out on this isolated oasis. Once you've been here you'll look forward to returning again and again.

In the truest sense of the word retreat; "to renew, replenish the soul and inspire creative endeavours", this exquisite haven fulfills it's purpose. The owners have infused the interior and exterior of this sanctuary with resplendent gardens, arbors and evocative pieces of art. Adults and children alike will be delighted by the fanciful ceramic sentinels perched atop gate posts giving a whimsical ambience to this magical getaway. Here art and function combine in one of a kind furniture, ceramics and architecture. It is almost impossible to stay in ones head worries while soaking in breath taking views of Anderson Valley, munching on freash salads from the garden and watching bees hum in the purple thistle blossoms of artichoke plants. To linger in the morning light as it illumnates grape leaves trailing down arbor pillars is guaranteed to nourish the heart and soul. Give yourself a treat and visit this "True Getaway".

The drive leading to the property is beautiful and as you turn in, you’ll notice a row of aspen trees with leaves shimmering in the light breeze. Whimsical tops along the fence posts hint that you’ve arrived at a very special place. Walking to the entrance, I felt welcomed by the patterns combed in the gravel beneath the olive trees – reminiscent of a Zen garden. We were a group of five writing women, coming together for a retreat and this home suited us perfectly. Inside, we immediately knew we were in the home of someone who appreciates life. Art and “finds” are everywhere. Clutter is not. The comfortable layout allowed for us to be together or work separately as we chose. It was a delight to prepare meals in a kitchen designed for someone who truly enjoys cooking. The antique butcher block is amazing. No doubt, you’ll be as surprised by the dining table as we were. The grape arbor off the kitchen is stunning in its dappled sunlight. I felt completely at ease in this peaceful place. The lovingly tended landscape is a restful treat for the eyes. There are so many places to comfortably “be” outside where you can appreciate the beauty of these hills, meadows and wonderful variety of trees. This home defined the word “retreat” for me.

The five of us couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. As a writing group, we were inspired from the moment we walked in the front door and out into the fragrant gardens. You won't be the least bit disappointed here. Everything is perfect and welcoming. It was "bee hum quiet" (to quote my fellow writer Muriel) the entire time. As other reviewers have mentioned, the photos can't begin to capture the beauty here. We luxuriated in every minute and you will too.

WOW! We were delighted to find this gem to be all the pics and reviews said and then some. GORGEOUS views, peaceful and quiet get-away. We loved being within an hour of Redwoods at Hendy State Park as well as great wineries like Navarro Vineyards and the coast! The home was clean, full of fun art and very inviting. Truly a place to unwind, relax and get back in touch with yourself and nature. Owner was VERY helpful and cordial. The gardens were amazing - such a joy to eat fresh organic salads every night. Loved all the wildlife and hiking opps. And to sit with a nice glass of wine with the all the fresh lavender and rosemary surrounding the house to tickle your senses was pure heaven. Highly recommend this for anyone looking for a remote but accessible place to get away to. We LOVED it!

What a beautiful place! My husband, my two teenagers, and I spent our week reading in Adirondack chairs enjoying the amazing view. The house itself is decorated with incredible artwork and the kitchen is state of the art. The owner generously allowed us to sample what was growing in his garden--we still talk about the tomatoes! And every morning, we'd awake to the sight of deer right outside our window--just incredible! Finally, the outdoor covered patio was the perfect setting for meals made with fresh produce from the garden and high quality cheeses, meats and wine from Anderson Valley itself. We highly recommend this gorgeous and inviting home.

We just returned from a fabulous two weeks at this absolutely wonderful home. The inside of this house is beautiful, but the amazing outdoor areas surrounding the home, not to mention the beautiful views, are really the icing on the cake. A tough decision every day - should I sit under the olive tree arbor out front and look at the view of the Yorkville Highlands or should I sit under the enchanting grape arbor in back and wander through the lovely gardens. Tough call. We enjoyed every inch of space indoor and outdoor at this totally relaxing retreat. Would highly recommend this rental to anyone!

Friends and I just came back from a near perfect week at this home outside of Yorkville. The on-line pictures only hint at the beauty and serenity of this home inside and out. The owner's taste is exquisite -- there is always something new to pick up visually. The bedrooms are all quite comfortable, but the master is truly grand and joy to wake up in. For cooks, I have rarely visited a friend's home with a kitchen so well-stocked with implements, serving dishes, flatware...it truly is a home that is a vacation in and of itself. (In fact we barely left during our week there with the exception of walks along the road or hiking the property...) This one's no-brainer.

This is one of those gems for which pictures (even though they're good!) don't do the place justice. The setting is spectacular. The home is beautifully designed and appointed. The flow and layout are perfect for a group of five. The furnishings and art are tasteful and delightful. The house, particularly the kitchen, is equipped with everything you need for a luxurious visit, with all the modern conveniences you have at home (except for wifi). The relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces is sublime, with many spots to explore, relax and entertain. The general surroundings are rustic, private and downright gorgeous. Shopping is a short and beautiful drive to nearby towns. The renter is extremely collaborative and accommodating. You simply can't go wrong with this rental.
