A quintessential ski house. This place has everything one could want: a great location-smack in between the mountain and the town, a new hot tub, lots of bedrooms (6) so everyone has their own room and no one is on pullouts, a huge great room that can accomodate your whole group, a 2nd family room with a computer, video games, pool table, ipod ready stereo, DVD player.... if the younger generation needs their space but most importantly- an overall warm, cozy yet spacious feeling.
We keep improving the house and this year we've added a new 50 jet 6 person hot tub, a giant leather comfy sectional that will swallow you up after a tiring day of skiing and a new master bedroom set with a king sized tempurpedic type mattress.
Our house is located about half way between the Mt. Mansfield and the town. Just 5 minutes from the first slopes and 8 to the main mountain. It is below most of the commercial activity on Mt. road but a walk to our favorite pub, Gracies. You can also walk (or glide most of the way) to Stowes award winning rec path. Last season the town groomed it for X-country and you can take it all the way to town. In warmer weather it is a great walking or running path. We have a 3 mile loop using the path for our morning jogs.
Our 3250 square foot Deck House features post and beam construction, exposed Douglas fir beams, wooded tongue and groove cathedral ceilings and expansive glass panels created to frame views and invite the outdoors in. This midcentury modernist chalet takes advantage of the natural hillside by merging it into the existing land contours for minimal disruption of the sites natural beauty. Its architect was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright incorporating his design concepts by blending its spaces together creating a great feeling of openness while at the same time feeling warm and intimate. There is a preservationist movement afoot recognizing this brand of architecture.
The house features expansive upper and lower family living areas each with a fireplace. Two bedrooms are big enough to be considered master bedrooms. One has its own bathroom. An additional bedroom has a queen bed, two bedrooms each have a pair of twins and there is one single. The pool room also has a day bed.
The windows are situated to connect to the natural environment to make people feel they are living in the outdoors. Interior spaces flow freely, accented by a rich combination of natural wood. A fully equipped galley kitchen compliments a dining area suitable for 12. Its two car garage keeps snow off your car and there is plenty of additional parking. A mud room is just off the parking area to reboot and store skis indoors. It is has wonderful gathering spaces and can comfortably accommodate a fun loving crowd with its pool room and piano.
The upper living room has a huge screened fireplace, HD TV, surround sound home theater system with cd/dvd, ipod dock and cable. It comes equipped with high speed wireless connection and a computer. It is located in a private wooded setting on an acre of land half way between the mountain and the town- convenient to everything. The shuttle stops at the end of the road and is a 5 minute walk should one want to come home from skiing early. Feel the warmth this wonderful home has to offer.

Why the Owner Chose Stowe
Foremost, Stowe has the best skiing and is best New England mountain town, bar none, in the east. The house is set on about an acre of land into a hillside just off Mountain Road less than 4 miles away from Mt. Mansfield. If a group need to split up (someone want to stop skiing early or go shopping) the town's shuttle service can drop you off at the end of our street and it's a short walk to the house. The house is located in the one of America's first ski communities built when the golden age of skiing dawned in the sixties. It is a "deck house" design and the are several others in Stowe of the same vintage. There are several retro features that have luckily been preserved. A "deck house" is an architectural design where the roof and ceiling system is wholly supported by the exterior walls. The upper level ceiling is natural wood and exposed structural wood beams give it a warm and open feeling. The house also has 2 similar sized family rooms. The upper level is off the eating area and the lower level is just underneath it adjacent to the pool/game room. Fire wood is provided. If part of your brood is exuberant and late nighters the expansiveness of the house lets everyone do their thing without disturbing someone who wants a more peaceful experience. It is very close to the mountain, under a 10 minute drive. We insist that our neighbors privacy and tranquility be respected for this house is in mixed residential neighborhood but is quite private.

Our 2 families had a lovely stay at this house. Plenty of room but still quite cozy, with a good working fireplace and plenty of wood. The kitchen was fully equipped, with many more pots, pans and utensils than most vacation houses. Great location between the slopes and town with some cute shops and decent dining nearby. Owner's info packet was very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Another stellar visit to this ski house. Walking distance to trout stream, brand new hot tub, easy driving to great restaurants, ski shops and shopping in general. Thanksgiving was a winter wonderland, 12 inches new snow. Kept both fireplaces going, one in living room for bigger kids and downstairs for younger group. Kids had a great time with the pool table and rocked the house on the stereo in the billiard/piano room. Parents be advised the pool room is directly below master bedroom so be prepared to be lulled to sleep by Led Zepplin and the subtle click of pool balls settling into pockets. Very complete kitchen that the most demanding cook would enjoy. This is my 3rd trip and I plan to utilize this fantastic home again in the near future. I highly recommend this house on a 4 season basis.

I have stayed at this home on several occasions. Always clean, comfortable and close to all that Stowe has to offer. Mud room for skis, boots etc. Rumpus room with pool table and piano for the kids plus kids tv/entertainment room. Laundry facilities , gas grill, large drive way to swallow cars of friends and family. Big kitchen with large dining table, wood burning fireplace in large living room with very Frank Lloyd Wright feel. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and lots of room for sleeping bags. Minutes to the slopes and town. Owners are lovely gracious family with a zeal for all that winter has to offer. I recommend this home completely and without reservation. Worth the trip.

The house is in the perfect place within minutes of the mountain and all the restaurants and shops in Stowe. The house is very clean and is extremely well stocked for cooking everything you could want on your vacation. Highly recommended for large groups as we had 12 people and there was plenty of room for everyone.

This house is situated right in the heart of Stowe. Skiing, shopping and plenty of restaurants are all within a few miles. There is plenty to do even if you are not a skiier. There is plenty of room for a large family get together with room enough for everyone to have their own space or a cozy retreat for two. This home is very warm & welcoming. It boasts a fully stocked kitchen, games, pool table, a washer/dryer, linens, etc. We didn't want for a thing. The house was meticulously clean and very comfortable. My sister, being from North Carolina was in awe of the majestic beauty of Stowe Mountain and the simple beauty of the town itself. The view from most any window in the house will surely take your breath away. The photos of the house simply do not do it justice. If your vacation destination is New England, Stowe Vermont is not to be missed. This property has everything anyone could ever want or need. It exceeded all of our expectations and was exactly what we were looking for. You will not be disappointed. One tip: Please call early if interested as it seems this property is quite popular.

We were a group of 12 or so people in Stowe for a wedding. Staying at this house was perfect for us, as it was cheaper than a hotel and was less than a mile from our destination. There was ample space for hanging out, eating, and sleeping comfortably, and it was really nice to have a place where we could all relax together. Thanks for the great experience. I highly recommend this house - I can only imagine how nice it is in the dead of winter (we were there in June 2010).

The pictures shown are very modest in comparison to how amazing the house really is. I have stayed at various places in Vermont but this house really makes you feel at home. Not only does it have everything you need but it's conveniently located a short distance away from the slopes, and there are eateries very close to home. It was very clean and had all of the amenities to accommodate our needs. The owner is extremely friendly and supplied us with a packet of information that gave us ideas of things to do. We had an amazing time and would definitely love to stay there again.
