'Reel Retreat' on the White River

Great for a couple's getaway, fishing weekend or music festival!
This cozy, 1,100 square foot cabin overlooks the White River, just outside of Mountain View. It is located in a small neighborhood, right across the river between Jack's Resort and Angler's Resort! The cabin is less than 1/2 mile away from two boat ramps, 10 minutes from downtown Mountain View, 15 minutes from Blanchard Caverns and right in the middle of hiking, mountain biking, hunting, fishing and the music of Mountain View! It's certainly a 'Reel Retreat!'
Walk straight out the back door to the spacious NEW deck which overlooks the White River. There is an ample yard that has over 150 feet of river frontage. Perfect for roasting s'mores over the fire pit, playing frisbee in the yard, enjoying nature or dropping a line in the River right from the bank. There is a protected shoreline in front of the cabin and the level of the River can vary greatly. There is a table on the deck for enjoying your catch!
The cabin features one bedroom with a queen size bed and a separate bunk area for three people. There are two full size bathrooms and a full kitchen. Enjoy some hot chocolate or other drinks at the cedar bar or next to a cozy, warm fire in the wood burning stove. At the end of the day, watch the big game on one of the two televisions.

This is the second time I have stayed here. The first time I came by myself with my puppy in September and it was perfect. I cooked. I napped. I spent the rest of my time on the deck reading and enjoying the gorgeous view of the river. This time I came with two friends. It was wonderful. The decor and the furnishings are so comfortable. We lounged around the house. We cooked and played board games. It was the perfect weekend. There are bunk beds as well as a twin bed in the living room. You could also sleep on the couch. There are two bathrooms. One has a bathtub and the other has a shower. It's perfect. It is close to JoJo's where you can get more food than you will ever need for a great price. It's only ten minutes or so from downtown. Blanchard Springs is also pretty close. It is the perfect location. I tell everyone to stay here.Recommended for: People with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.

I traveled to mountain view not knowing what I was in for... The trip could not have been more perfect! Upon arrival we were greeted with the most breath taking view of the bluffs and the white river. We were able to meet the neighbors on our trip and they are some of the most kind, generous, happy people(Just like the owners). We went out on the river (on a boat from Jack's less than 2 minutes away) and were greeted by a mature bald eagle just down the river. The scenery was amazing!!! Then we traveled to Baxter County just a short trip away and saw a HUGE black bear crossing the road!!! What an experience! The next day we had the pleasure of stumbling upon mirror lake inside Blanchard caverns national park. If you enjoy fishing, caving, or hiking this is the most astonishing place ever and only 9 miles from the cabin!!!! The fishing there was great, caught around 20 fish in only 2 hours. The cabin itself was excellent. From the comfort of the beds, the cleanliness, the temperature the DECK, the view, the AWESOME decor, to neighbors who all were so welcoming this is a true gem in Mountain view not to miss. The owners were very helpful and understanding as well. I loved being able to bring my dog! Thank you both for allowing my brother and I to have the fishing trip of a lifetime!!! You have earned lifelong customers!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.

After staying at the Reel Retreat, my only regret is not taking a longer vacation. The word "cozy" easily describes the cabin, with its comfortable furnishing and wonderful decor. Square footage is small, but the layout is such that we never felt cramped. The size would be perfect for couples or small families. In our case, we had our two dogs in lieu of children and they had a blast chasing each other around the expansive backyard when they weren't sacked out by the wood burning stove. It should be noted that the neighbors are very close by. We had a bit of trepidation about this at first, but the neighbors we met were very friendly, and others seemed to not be around (perhaps vacation rentals as well?). I get the feeling that had we stayed longer, we would have hardly noticed the close quarters in the end. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the Reel Retreat and would definitely return if in the area.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners.

this cabin was pretty ideal. perfectly decorated to make you feel warm and cozy, plus 2 indoor fireplaces which were fantastic, especially loved using the one in the kitchen. the view from the back door is amazing, and my favorite part is that they allowed pets so i was able to bring my 2 dogs along. my boyfriend and i are already talking about going back for the summer. *2 thumbs up*Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.

Plenty of room in this cabin for us and our three kids. Nice having two TVs so the kids could watch their shows in the living area and we could have football on in the kitchen. The views from the deck were great whether looking at the cliff across the river or an eagle flying along the river. Caught some trout and it was a quick drive to Blanchard Springs. Convenient to the city for amenities which was nice. A great Thanksgiving for our family.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.

Another simply delightful stay! A wonderful compliment to a fun filled vacation. Oh...and the new deck facing the river and overlying bluff wasn't bad either. Highly recommend both the cabin and owners. We rented this cabin in mid-October and had a great stay. Great waterfront location (White River) with stunning bluffs immediately on the other side. The cabin was very clean and comfortable, with plenty of room for 4-5 people. Spacious kitchen and living room. Nice bar in the living room for hanging out. Friendly neighbors. Fantastic deck out back. Very dog friendly, especially the expansive backyard that leads down to the river. We didn't fish, but if you're into mountain biking, there's world class trails on the other side of the river (Syllamo Trails)...about 40 miles or so. We'll definitely be returning in the spring...Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, pet owners.

This is now my "new favorite" place to stay in the Mtn. View area. Being a Geologist I love the proximity to water, trails, and caves. Also convenient to music, restaurants, and shopping. Extremely "owner friendly". A great place to relax and focus on some of the true basics of life. You can bet I'll be back!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+.
