This Salt Creek Retreat is a 2006 built home on .62 acres with 230 feet of Salt Creek frontage and within walking distance of downtown Amity and 3 wineries so you don't really have to drive anywhere if you don't want to. Downtown Amity has wine tasting, restaurants, a food market, gas station, and Antique stores. The location is very central as it's right in the middle of Oregon's Wine Country with wineries North, South, East and West. McMinnville is a five minute drive, Salem is 30 minutes and you can drive one hour to either Portland, the Coast or Cascade Mountains. The home is in town but is private since it's on acreage at the end of the road adjacent to Oak Forest.
The home has great West facing views of Salt Creek which is below the house and there are farms, countryside and the Coast Range off in the distance on the other side of the creek. The master bedroom has a nice view of the Amity Hills to the East. Western Sunsets are spectacular when weather cooperates. There is great wildlife viewing with many song birds, hawks and a pair of Blue Herons that live on the creek. There's also fish, ducks and beavers that live in the Salt Creek riparian area.
This modern home is furnished with comfort and convenience in mind. It's great for relaxing and enjoying the countryside and creek views from the back deck or living room and kitchen windows. It's also set up for working for those on business trips with the DSL, Wi-Fi (wireless internet connection), printer and fax machine. This vacation home will work for many different vacation scenarios.
The home has three bedrooms upstairs with walk in closets. The two smaller bedrooms have West facing windows with great views of Salt Creek and share a large bathroom with a tub. The master bedroom faces East with Amity Hills views and has a private bathroom with tub. Downstairs has a half bath, kitchen and living area with windows looking at Salt Creek below. The kitchen table is next to a window with views of Salt Creek.
The Salt Creek Retreat home is the perfect centrally located home for relaxing in wine country or exploring the Willamette Valley, Oregon Coast, Portland or Cascade Mountains.

My wife and I run a mail order business in Sheridan and have always wanted to rent a low impact home where travelers could enjoy their vacation in a natural setting but didn't have to travel far to enjoy sights. We found this perfect home on Salt Creek in Amity to start our endeavor. We clean the home with non-toxic cleaners and stock it with recycled tissue products. The best feature of the home is you can walk to Amity or bike to Wineries and McMinnville as an alternative to driving.
Why the Owner Chose Amity
The Amity vacation home is in a perfect location in the Oregon Wine Country. There are wineries North, South, East and West of Amity and there's also 3 wineries within walking distance. It's a short walk to quaint downtown Amity with restaurants and antique shops but feels like it's in the country since it has .62 acres on Salt Creek with Creek and countryside views to the West with great sunsets. It's 50 miles to Portland airport and 72 miles to Eugene Airport. It's 5 miles to McMinnville which has a historic downtown, all the shopping you need and the Evergreen Air Museum. It is also only 30 miles to the historic capital Salem and 45 minutes to the Coast.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The location has great convenience since it's a short walk to downtown Amity or 5 minute drive to McMinnville shopping and sights. Also, the home is only 8 miles to the spectacular Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum in McMinnville. There's 230 feet of creek frontage on the property and it's the last house on the street adjacent to open space. It's an hour drive to either the Coast, Portland or Cascade Mountains. We really like walking to Camino Real restaurant for authentic Mexican food. The best part of the home is sitting on the back deck drinking coffee in the morning watching and listening to birds or wine in the evenings enjoying sunset views of the creek and countryside.
