- Minimum stay:N/A

The Salt Creek Retreat is a 2006 built home on .62 acres with 231 feet of creekfront. It's only 3 blocks to downtown Amity, elevation 162' in the heart of the Yamhill Valley. Coelho winery is downtown and Amity Vineyards and Kristin Hill Winery are nice 1 mile walks North of the home. Downtown Amity has restaurants, a bar, antiques, market and Chevron. The location is bullseye in the middle of Oregon Wine Country with wineries North, South, East and West. McMinnville(Mac) is 5 minutes North, Salem is 17 miles and you can drive 45 minutes to Portland, Cascade Mountains or Coast. The home is in town but private since it's the last house on a dead end street and adjacent to an Oak Forest. There are ALL YOU CAN EAT BLACKBERRIES July-September.
The home has great West facing views of Salt Creek which is below the house and there are farms, countryside and the Coast Range off in the distance on the other side of the creek. The master bedroom has a nice view of the Amity Hills to the East. Western Sunsets are spectacular when weather cooperates. There is great wildlife viewing with many song birds, hawks and a pair of Blue Herons that live on the creek. There's also fish, ducks and beavers that live in the Salt Creek riparian area.
This modern home is furnished with comfort and convenience in mind. It's great for relaxing and enjoying the countryside and creek views from the back deck or living room and kitchen windows. It's also set up for working for those on business trips with Wi-Fi, and a desk in the master bedroom with printer/fax machine. This vacation home will work for many different vacation scenarios.
The home has 3 bedrooms upstairs with walk in closets. The 2 smaller bedrooms have West facing windows with great views of Salt Creek and share a large bathroom with a tub. One of the creek view bedrooms has a pine dresser and queen log bed with comfy mattress right next to the window. The 2nd creek view bedroom has a pine dresser and bunkbed with full on bottom and twin on top. The master bedroom faces East with Amity Hills views and has a pine dresser and queen log bed, futon couch that folds down to a queen bed, desk and private bathroom with tub. Downstairs has a 1/2 bath, kitchen and living area with windows looking at Salt Creek below. The dining area and living space is small. The kitchen door opens up to the wrap-around deck with bbq, table and chairs overlooking the creek.
The Salt Creek Retreat home is the perfect centrally located home for relaxing in wine country or exploring the Willamette Valley, Oregon Coast, Portland or Cascade Mountains.

Christmas 2012. We had a cozy, peaceful Christmas in your home. We gathered family from California, and from North and South in Oregon. This was a perfect midway spot. We had a very nice time!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

House was as described. Clean, nice, and plenty of room for our group (5 people), nice view out back and nice deck to relax on. Surrounding neighborhood is a bit unsightly, but the house itself is nice and you feel quite separated from everything with the farm out back across the stream. Overall, this was a great location for a home-base in wine country.Recommended for: Sightseeing.

Indeed, 18 months later I returned and had another fantastic time at both Amity, Oregon and California. This house - and Amity - are small gems in a big world. And I'm still not done yet. Best WishesDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: I run a mail order business in Sherwood and Amity is a quick 35 minute escape to the countryside and nature. I wanted to start a vacation rental business where travelers can stay and relax in a spectacular natural setting within walking distance of a downtown and wineries. I found this perfect home on Salt Creek in Amity to start my endeavor. We clean the home with non-toxic cleaners and stock it with recycled paper products.
Why the Owner Chose Amity:
The home has a million dollar view of Salt Creek and countryside and it feels like country since it's on Salt Creek and on the other side of the creek is a farm that frames sunsets when weather cooperates. We can canoe Salt Creek in either direction. It is in a perfect central location in Oregon Wine Country as there are wineries North, South, East and West and 3 within walking distance. You can walk to quaint downtown Amity with groceries, restaurants and antique shops. Amity is an unspoiled small town, neighbors are real friendly. The drive is 50 miles to Portland airport and 72 miles to Eugene Airport. McMinnville is 5 miles North and has a historic downtown, the Evergreen Air Museum and waterslides and all the shopping you need. Only 45 minute drive to the Coast without Portland's traffic
The Unique Benefits at this House:
ALL YOU CAN EAT BLACKBERRIES late July-Sept. Relax to beautiful views and wildlife. Walk or bike and only use a vehicle to make big shopping trips to McMinnville. Being able to relax on back deck drinking coffee mornings watching and listening to song birds or evenings drinking local wine or microbrews while enjoying sunsets.
