"Que sara pas counten, vague a Lorgo" If you are not happy, go to Lorgues...an old regional saying...So WE DID and never looked back...
Lorgues is a picturesque medieval village situated in the heart of the wine and olive region of the Maures hillside. Its origin can be traced to Roman time and the Middle Ages with remains of walls, gates, alleyways and old chapels (XVc Chapel Benva - "good journey" being one of the finest examples. The name Lorgues itself is alleged to date back to 1478.
The imposing 300 year old St Martin Collegiale (church) as well as the large plane trees lined avenues and fountains are the setting for a thriving typical provencal market every Tuesday morning.
The lively village with cafes, renowned restaurants (one of them enjoys a Michelin star)shops and banks to meet all your daily needs is only an hour from Nice, Hyeres airports, Marseille airport being just a bit further; therefore you can enjoy the glamorous Cote d'Azur and its famous beaches, the Sarasin hilltop villages, the Verdon Canyon and all the typical Provencal sites in nearby villages and towns.
Situated a stone's throw from the Collegiale and the heart of the village this charming house with its own drive and wrought iron gate to La Bourgade square is set in the grounds (1 acre) of the owners main residence. It offers privacy, calm and, if desired, shares all year round a landscaped garden with mature trees and shrubs; in season (may till September)you can enjoy a tantalizing tiled "infinity" pool and pool deck.
Your own private sunny courtyard secluded by the tall rectory stone wall is there for you to relax with a glass of wine (or two...) It offers views of the Collegiale bell tower that can be admired especially at night.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2003
After 37 years spent living and working in Surrey we retired in the beautiful and picturesque village of Lorgues in 2003. We arrived in 1967 in Weybidge lured by the then “new” oil industry and after 30 years spent in selling pipes, fittings and valves we started an Art gallery in 1997 realizing a life long ambition. We exhibited French oil paintings at most venues (Olympia, Earls Court, Chester, Ascot,. The NEC Birmingham, Harrogate, Gleneagles, Claridges in London, Glasgow Exhibition Centre etc...) and became members of both LAPADA and BADA. The family, three children and four grandchildren, currently live in the UK. For years we owned a summer country cottage in La Motte (25km from Lorgues) that we rented on a regular basis to British friends family and guests. (many references and testimonies are available) Although located in the centre of the village “La Petite Bourgade” is a quiet and secluded house and every effort will be made to make your stay a pleasant and enjoyable one. We are looking forward to welcoming you at “La Petite Bourgade” in the very near future....
